JL Audio Stealthbox - Same as the Ram 1500?

So I've actually already installed the JL Audio Stealthbox with 2 - 10" (Part # SB-D-5GRAMCCR/10TW3) in my TRX myself. I ordered the parts from Crutchfield and spent around $1900. List of parts I ordered below. I went with the JL Audio XD600/1 amp because you can purchase adapters to tap the speakers without the need for Line Output Converter since its basically built into the amp. Also, it uses the taps to signal the amp to turn on so no need to run an additional cable to fuse box or amp under the drivers seat.

For install be ready for some work, you have to remove the rear seats completely to mount the box. Running power cable through firewall by the neutral release pull and down the drivers side under the trim is fairly easy. I used a ground bolt in the middle rear area that was already there along with disconnecting the factor sub and using that as my speaker tap.

All in all I'm very happy and the bass is amazing but the ANC (Auto Noise Cancellation) mics do NOT play well with aftermarket subs. I get humming and some issues with the ANC system trying to filter in white noise to make the cabin quieter. There are companies out there that make bypasses for the ANC system that are plug in play like this one:

Which I'm currently waiting for mine to arrive and hopefully that will take away that problem and everything will be perfect!

*Note - you only need to use one if tapping the sub and use the Left channel on the amp or use a Y RCA splitter to plug into both for the amp. Comes straight from the JL Audio amp user guide.

Outside of the list above, just need a 4 ga wiring kit, RCA cable, RCA Y splitter cable and some time. Took about 6-8 hours.
Great info! The ANC issue is one of the reasons I'm hesitant to install a sub (or full system) in the TRX. I have full systems in pretty much every other truck I have, but since I did a system in my F450 I've had issues with hands free talking on the phone. My suspicion is that the ANC mics are not playing nice with the Mosconi 8 to 12 sound processor and it often cuts out people's words when they talk. Particularly the first syllable or two when they start talking. If they say simple things like "yes" or "no" those are often not heard at all. I'm not getting any of the buzz or feedback issues you are, but talking with other stereo installers it's not unheard of for those ANC mics to cause issues like that. I've not tried that ANC bypass, but might look into it. Thanks for posting your results!

Love this thread and appreciate all the info. I haven't gotten my TRX yet but in the planning stages for when I do. I take it that I wont be able to take my custom JL system I put in my F250 with me to the TRX? For those that have their vehicles, is there not enough space behind seats for system pictured? Thanks for info. Look forward to following this and what others have done.

Unfortunately there isn’t enough room behind the seats for any type of sub box. You need to go under the seat and can can more room by using a seat riser.

Figured that was going to be the case. That JL sub has been amazing. I hate to lose the under seat storage but...

I put a JL Stealthbox under my rear seat, never missed not being able to throw anything underneath there. I have seen boxes that house a single 10/12 sub and only take up half of the underseat storage.

Thanks, I agree. Doubt I would really miss it as well. Will probably go the full box route.

I'm not 100% sure you couldn't with the sub you have pictured there. That particular sub only needs 2.6" of mounting depth so with 3/4" HDF, you could be close to four inches and you don't even need one cubic foot. Is your box there four inches plus at the base? It actually might fit if you got the upgraded trim package that has reclining seats. My amps fit but even they were a tight squeeze.

Get some measurements and let's just see even though it seems improbable.

I do have the reclining seats! I will measure and see what I come up with. That would be great if I could get it to fit! Thanks for the input Jackson.

If you have a Level 2 with reclining seats - will the stealth box with the 2-12’s not fit or will you just lose the reclining functionality?

Bump from the dead. Aside trial and error myself and testing things, has anyone successfully identified which are the signal wires feeding the amp for the powered sub in the HK 19 setup?
