A line out converter like theL2CIHow do you tap into the signal for the JL?
From the factory sub input, I assume?A line out converter like theL2CI
Not at all, the line out takes a signal from the rear speakers. In return you can hook up your aftermarket amp to run your subs in your own enclosure. From the factory sub input, I assume?
Is it possible to take the signal from the factory sub input instead of the rear speaker input? I assume there's a lot of low notes that aren't sent to the rear speakers. Not at all, the line out takes a signal from the rear speakers. I don't think so, generally line out converters take the signal from both left and right rear speakers. Is it possible to take the signal from the factory sub input instead of the rear speaker input? I assume there's a lot of low notes that aren't sent to the rear speakers.
Nah you just gotta invest in a good line out converter, it works great with the factory alpine speakers.Gotcha, thanks. Just seems like we'll be missing some of the lower notes that way.
But there's no way the factory head unit is sending the lowest notes to the door speakers. I know it would still sound better than the factory sub anyway.Nah you just gotta invest in a good line out converter, it works great with the factory alpine speakers.
That is a very good point, which is why just replacing the factory sub and using that connections seems like the setup that will yield the best performanceBut there's no way the factory head unit is sending the lowest notes to the door speakers. Looks like you could yank this out and install something with some more oomph there : )Just incase anyone is interested in what the stock sub looks like in the HK system. I have an early 19 and they had an issue with the box vibrating on the back wall. Thats why you can see the little rubber cut out around the screws...

No that's not it at all, you still need a line out converter, wiring kit, and a amp.So just to be clear, I could swap out the factory sub for something aftermarket and there would be no additional equipment needed?
