How do you get your money?

Some oil field guys do extremely well, but not so much this past year. 2021 is starting to look a lot better. Guessing you are much more steady at the refinery?
Yes. We haven't really been affected by the rona as far as staying working. Early on last year our in-house contractors were forced to leave for a while, but most have come back. Right now we are in a maintenance outage(aka...turnaround), so I'm on nights 7-12's. Gotta work long and hard to make the money to pay for the toys.

Held onto some. At one point I had over 1000. Hindsight but can’t really complain. It paid for my first exotic car.

and an island populated by prostitutes and questionable decisions
Thats awesome! Can I come visit your island?! 😅🤨😁

It took me about 8 trips to the local BMW dealership over the course of about a decade before I was really acknowledged or taken seriously. On that 8th visit I met a very knowledgeable young salesman that sold me my first BMW, an X7. I sold it after about 9 months but the overall ownership experience was pretty good.
Now that’s perseverance. I am pretty sure I would not have made it to the 4th visit. I am kinda following the 3 strikes rule. 8 visits, that legendary.

Jeffry? Is that you?

I believe he got it at a bargain from a previous owner who died under questionable conditions labeled as "suicide."
Oh damn, you beat me too it.

I pump gas... On and off a ship!
Milk run from a refinery up in Washington, down to Martinez and LA/Long Beach.
Corona has thrown us for a loop, hopefully things picking back up in the near future though.

Benz dealerships are even the worse.

Walked into the Bellevue, WA Benz dealer to look at an E63 AMG and I kid you not they wouldn't even let me sit in it (showroom car that wasn't sold).

Went to Lynwood dealership, bought it in cash, and I drove to the Bellevue dealership and told them they were a-holes and messed up so I bought elsewhere.

Still amazes me that car dealership salesman haven't learned that you should never judge a book by its cover.

I did that with a F250 I bought after GMC didn't pay me any mind pulling up in a new S4 to look at a 2500 Denali. Idiots.

All the exotic dealers where I used to live are in the same area so when I would go check out Lambo or Rolls or whatever I would go into Ferrari. It took at least 10-15 visits for at least 30 minutes each for someone to say a word to me.

it was the receptionist asking me if I would like coffee or water. I said “you know what, thank you, water would be great. Also thank you as I have been coming here for a year and nobody has said a word to me”

to be fair this would normally be when I am just cruising from a cars and coffee on a Saturday morning... typically wearing shorts, slippers and a t shirt with visible tattoos

Anacortes?
I have a cabin on Orcas Island. Made my heart hurt seeing Anacortes on here. Haven’t been able to get to the cabin in 1.5yrs. It’s my favorite place on earth. Damn COVID. Heading there in June for two months (in the TRX of course). Can’t wait

I have a place on San Juan, the TRX will live there. Why haven't you been there? Wife and I have the same feelings about our place. Islands got 14 inches of snow today.

Spent the last 11 years with long hair and beard and was treated very different than clean shaving and military hair cut. it always amazed me how quick people are to judge by that “cover”

The first time I walked into a BMW dealership, I got the cold shoulder and walked next door and bought an Audi, and ended up buying three Audi's in a row because of the one cold shoulder. The second time I went into the BMW dealership and got the same treatment, I ended up buying a Mercedes two doors down, and ended up having two GLs before trying something new. It all depends on the dealer on that specific day.

I agree with you, but the 8 different visits were over almost a decade. I was never one to beg someone to let me give them money. At the end of the day, I like cars and enjoy trying different ones. It was either drive a BMW from them or drive an extra 30 minutes to drive one.
