First shots 2025 TRX test mule

Anybody else think this is getting out of hand. I mean it's nice to have somewhat a mean sounding truck that isn't annoying everyone else around you. But far as the sound coming from the tail pipe ranks lowest in my priority when buying a vehicle. I mostly bought this truck because I am a fan of the brand and I thought it was cool to have all the off-road goodies of a desert runner. All the horsepower was just a plus which comes at the cost of gas milage. I like the idea of a more efficient TRX for those who wants one and doesn't need the horsepower. Heck, one thing nobody mentions is that turbo engines have better torque down low and drive much better on the highway. It does suck they are taking away the hellcat option, but I am sure for a lot of us that the hellcat version is getting to the point nobody wants to spend that much for a daily driver. I am sure that all the people that buy these trucks to add to their garage full of race car will be mad no matter what unless Stellantis decides to reverse course.
For a lot of us we are witnessing an end to what we love. American Muscle.

Everything (not just cars & trucks) is being pussified and some of us don't like the direction its going.

It's kind of an analog to digital thing. Digital audio can be better than analog, but there's a visceral quality of the analog audio that the old timers miss. The 6.2L is analogous to analog, with all the pros/cons of an ICE V8, but definitely visceral. The I6 turbo is a step towards digital.

Bunch of limp dick soy boys ruining this country because they were voted into office by women and estrogen poisoned men. Need to dial back those voting rights.
This has nothing to do with politics. Ford has no problem keeping the v8 in the Raptor.

Politics actually drives the cafe requirements for emissions/ fuel economy which is the reason that manufacturers have to balance their lineup and partly the reason why Ford will limit numbers on the Raptor R. I’m sure we could all dive into the metrics and how it impacts different manufacturers but honestly I don’t care to turn this into a debate.

That said, my post was meant to add some levity to the conversation but I’m sure you’re fun at parties.

Out of curiosity, what you think Dodge's reason for getting rid of all their Hellcat engines is then? They think there's a huge demand for 6 cylinder engines and electric trucks/cars. I'm not looking to get into a time wasting political argument but just wondering what other incentive you think there is.

Well I have never... How dare you, sir. I am going to call my therapist now.

The mods are going to have their hands full in about a year when the first guy with a 2025 TRX shows up here. I can't wait. 🤣
Have been a long time Raptor owner. Once the Gen 2 came out, the Raptor forum completely changed. This forum reminds me of the OG days on the Raptor forum back when the Gen 1 was the only thing out. Lol V8 vs V6 heated debates are going to be alive and well again here once the neutered TRX hits the market.

I used to visit a dirt bike website on a daily basis. The website is set up for one specific brand. The battles between hard core 2 and 4 stroke, carb and FI, etc. forced the mods to make separate sections for every faction, but arguments still spill over. I stopped going to that site because the bitching back and forth got exhausting. I hope that doesn't happen here.

Lol let me guess, it is KTM related? ;)

That’s an easy debate to win- 6.2 SC all day. Haha.

I agree! I just remember when the Gen 2 Raptor came out: V8s are dead, V6 is better, it’s more efficient, this is the future… blah blah blah. Yea, the most important part you left out, they sound like trash! The TRX really has made me dislike the Ecoboost platform. No way I would buy a neutered TRX.

The entire reason anyone bought the TRX was due to the hellcat.

This is copium on a level that deserves intervention.
This 100%

I‘ve said it from the start, if you off road at speed the Raptor is probably the better vehicle. It’s lighter, the suspension system is probably better, and the EcoPoop gets better fuel economy which means more range off road. I however, don’t off road at speed. 90% of my trucks life is spent on pavement going back and forth to work. The other 10% is driving forrest service roads, towing the pontoon boat, or taking longer road trips. All things I did in my Raptor, and my Power Wagon before that. When I bought the Raptor back in 2020 I really liked it. When the Hellcat TRX was offered I found a way into a 2021. I didn’t buy the TRX because it was a better off road truck. I bought it because of the Hellcat.

Ford makes enough low-emissions vehicles to keep their fleet average down, so they can afford to have a few fun vehicles.
Ford isn't even in the car business anymore, just trucks and SUVs. RAM messed up with their strategy here, no more copium.

Actually it does.
CAFE mandates put in place under Obama.
Carbon credits from EV vehicles. Stellantis doesn't have anything except a couple of hybrids.
Ford has the F150 Lightning and Mustang Mach-E EVs plus a handful of hybrids.

Dodge was buying carbon credits while Ford is still pissing away billions chasing those EV goals. But the flip side to that strategy is that Dodge no longer has a Hemi/Hellcat but Ford gets to keep their V8s.

Ford is projecting a 9-11B profit for 2023.

in 1975
What are CAFE Standards? First enacted by Congress in 1975, the purpose of CAFE is to reduce energy consumption by increasing the fuel economy of cars and light trucks.

in 1990
CARB adopted the first Low-Emission Vehicle (LEV) regulations in 1990, requiring automobile manufacturers to introduce progressively cleaner light- and medium-duty vehicles with more durable emission controls from the 1994 through 2003 model years.

You'd trounce other Americans' rights because you're mildly inconvenienced? That's fucked up man.
