First shots 2025 TRX test mule

You'd trounce other Americans' rights because you're mildly inconvenienced? That's fucked up man.
I guess you missed my post about adding levity?

To play devils advocate though, voting was meant to be an earned right from the inception of this country. You get to vote who’s in power because they get to choose you to go to war involuntarily via draft. There was a reciprocal responsibility between voting and being willing to die for your country.

That being said there are some interesting biologically based mindsets between male and female that correlate to how to run a society. Studies have been done on this (wife is a psychologist so we talk about this stuff a lot but I can find the references again if you really want them) that show women prioritize the individuals well being over the whole of society. If you place 100 men and 100 women on a island without medicine and tell them all that one of them is sick, about 80% of the men will vote to quarantine or exile that person while about 80% of women will vote to try and treat them and comfort them. Now if that illness is deadly, 80% of the men would have saved the society while 80% of women would have led to the extinction of them all. Men have a natural role as protectors and women as nurturers…hence why they say men kill each other while women kill civilizations. This difference in mindset is arguably one of the biggest reasons that voting should not be equal for a society to prosper.

Take it one step further, studies have also been shown that men who are given testosterone treatments will trend toward more conservative ideals versus progressive. This was a super interesting study but showed about 25% of men given testosterone actually flipped political parties from Democrat to Republican here in the US. This is a direct correlation between hormones and ideology and shows that the more you feminize a man, the more likely they are to vote Democrat. Therefore, you are now able to link progressivism to feminism. I could dive into this topic for hours because the biology of all of it is fascinating but the point being that voting is a responsibility and like all responsibilities it is not for everyone.

So it's my wife's fault that we're losing the 6.2L Super Charged Hellcat in all platforms?

And to think, all this time I thought she was on my side...

I had a raptor gen 2

I didn’t get a gen 3 or a R because they look much like every other ford f150 EVERY raptor looks the same. The raptor 37 was 94k out the door and the R was over 130.

Bottom line, if I’m gonna spend that kind of hard earned money I want it to be somewhat unique and be fucking awesome.

What makes ny lunar fukin awesome?

- looks totally unique especially the lunar as there are only 1500 of them.
- sounds like a MF beast and I love every second of it including paying for the gas.
- power for DAYS. It’s amazing.
- nicer inside that the G3 raptor by a long shot

Im not saying the G3 or R aren’t nice vehicles. They are. So is the f-150 platinum. But they aren’t AS nice, are not unique at all and sound shitty.

This chat went from A to Z pretty quickly. How bout those bears!

LOL, I think you need to research prior to posting mis-information.

in 1975
What are CAFE Standards? First enacted by Congress in 1975, the purpose of CAFE is to reduce energy consumption by increasing the fuel economy of cars and light trucks.

Now if you meant CARB standards, you are wrong there too.
in 1990
CARB adopted the first Low-Emission Vehicle (LEV) regulations in 1990, requiring automobile manufacturers to introduce progressively cleaner light- and medium-duty vehicles with more durable emission controls from the 1994 through 2003 model years.

Maybe you should read up on what is happening. And tell me again what misinformation I am talking about.

Sorry,
My misinterpretation of what you were stating. It read to me as if Obama enacted the CAFE Standards. His administration only added the higher requirement to it. So yes, his administration raised the standards, but the CAFE has been around since the oil embargo days...

No problem
That little nugget is what started us down this rabbit hole.
And while Trump tried to make it better, Biden doubled down.

Which gets back to my point of, politics very much brought this on us.

But most people couldn't care less about a 700hp supercharged truck. In fact, they think people should drive hybrid Camrys and Corollas painted silver. Cars are another appliance and thats it.

Sure. Ultimately gas burning vehicles of all kinds will go away and per the science and data that will be better for the plant and therefore the people living on it. Until then, I got my TRX and am happy!

None of this is new. Just look at the slow refinement of many engines and devices toward efficiency. Its not at all political and frankly both parties would be headed in this direction one way or another because at the end of the day its economically smart for the country.

If only battery powered cars were actually better for the environment.

They are, so that’s a simple problem solved. It’s been demonstrated time and time again by many different studies by many different sources to be the truth. We can make a ton of arguments for why EVs suck but that isn’t one.

Truth be told I used to think so too. But the caveats required for them to actually be better for the environment are unlikely to ever occur.

Lots of studies out there including ones done by auto manufacturers like Volvo (you can Google them all or I can link them) that show that EVs don’t break even on overall emissions until between 30k miles (at best for the smallest battery versions in countries with the highest % of renewable energy sources for electricity) to 90k miles ( for larger battery EVs with good range in countries with a more average distribution of electric energy sources). Most of those studies don’t take into account the emissions cost of battery disposal and none of them take into account the damage being done to the planet via strip mining for rare earth metals (200-600 tons of earth moved for one battery). The account for the emissions of the earth moving equipment but not the loss in green average helping to process CO2. The average lifespan of a car is 150k miles in the US but given the high cost of a battery replacement, it’s also likely that the average lifespan of EVs will be lower… something closer to their battery lifespan around 100k miles.

The case where EVs can provide a substantial benefit over ICE is short distance small vehicle small battery cars on grids that are 100% renewable energy. While this demonstrates a use case for EVs, it also demonstrates the limitations and areas where it is actually detrimental to the environment.

None of this is new information. I think there a TED talk out there from like 5 years ago showing that hybrids actually provide the best emissions balance for the environment thanks to the small battery size.

LIPSTICK ON A PIG

The situation reflects an ignored fact about EVs — they require enormous amounts of energy to produce.

A 15-pound lithium-ion battery holds about the same amount of energy as a pound of oil. To make that battery requires 7,000 pounds of rock and dirt to get the minerals that go into that battery. The average EV battery weighs around 1,000 pounds.

All of that mining and factory processing produces a lot more carbon dioxide emissions than a gas-powered car, so EVs have to be driven around 50,000 to 60,000 miles before there’s a net reduction in carbon dioxide emissions.

So, as more factories are built in the U.S. to supply EV manufacturers, there will be higher demands on the grid for power.

I know one vehicle that will be burning gas (and a lot of it) when all these new dewalt power drills with no sound or soul are driving around….mine and am sure many others on this forum. Electric vehicles have a place in society (commuters, high traffic areas etc…) but not for me. Better for the environment is questionable (as stated by other members above), I guess we (well probably not us, but our kids and grandkids+) will find out for sure. Until they can tow something of substance a long range without charging, count me out. The current offerings and range when towing is pathetic. To me driving is in experience and not an appliance (@Boris- I like that appliance wording) and have engrained that into my kids already. Long live the big supercharged v8.

That is the best description. The Rivian I owned was an extremely useful, fun and capable appliance. Totally lacking in soul but excellent at everything it did other than towing range. It made the TRX acceleration feel like a Camry but was just boringly quiet and efficient doing it.

After reading an article about Rivian owners seeing $40k bills for minor fender-benders (due to the way it's built), what little interest I had in them disappeared completely.

Unfortunately I think that’s the way most manufacturers are heading. It’s not that there’s anything special about the Rivian or the sheet metal, it’s just built for efficiency of production and aerodynamics so the entire side of the truck is one huge panel. There’s no easy way out to repair damage by just replacing a fender or quarter panel like on a traditionally built vehicle. Since manufacturers care about their production costs and bottom line and not how much you pay for repairs after an accident I foresee this huge repair bills becoming more common.

For what it’s worth though that $40k estimate was fixed for only a couple grand by a competent paintless dent repairman.

So, 3.3 to 3.5, 0 - 60 in the Rivian makes the TRX 4.0 to 3.7 0-60 seem like a Camery?
Interesting take.

Yep. The electric advantage, instant torque. The TRX takes a second to spin up the engine and hit that 650ft/lbs, the Rivian is 900ft/lbs from the moment you touch the pedal. The difference in the feel of the acceleration between the two is night and day.
