Dram of the Day

Love it! :)

I'm sure others will have great suggestions, fwiw here's a few I would recommend that are worth your consideration, but these are my preferences and yours and others' might and will differ:

Around $25: Wild Turkey 101
Around $40ish: Eagle Rare, Wilderness Trail Straight Bourbon, Heaven Hill 7, Hirsch Horizon
McKenna 10 was originally here, now most stores sell it around $80, which is about right for what it is but not a great value any more.
Also Elijah Craig Toasted barrel has $50 msrp and is probably the best value of everything out there at that price but good luck finding it for that, if at all. Same with Rabbit Hole Boxergrail or many of the basic Weller releases.
Closer to $100: Knob Creek 15 is priced well below its quality and aging, as is Widow Jane 14 and 15. Bardstown releases are around that price point but the better ones are practically unobtanium at msrp. Rabbit Hole ,Willet 4yr Rye, and EH Taylor Rye are priced right around $100 give or take a ten spot.
Above $100 you start getting really specific about matching your personal preferences to the offerings, so I don't feel comfortable throwing random names out there as the higher the price gets the more one's expectations rise and the more the chance of disappointment if one isn't precise with their choices.

There's so much more out there that doesn't come to mind, I'll try to add to it as it comes to me.
I need to invite you to a bourbon event in Louisville when we are allowed to have them again. Typically smaller events, around 400 or so and every main bourbon maker brings some of their best. Fun evening and great swag.

Surprised Woodford double oaked not on your list, around here it’s considered affordable good quality. I find rabbit hole a bit rough but not tried Boxergrail. I like AE and their bottles but get made fun of since it’s considered “a ladies bourbon” by my friends.

Have you tried Horse Soldier? Great story, bourbon doesn’t suck either.

A Soulsea inspired halftime, Treehouse Julius with Hirsch. While I'm a pats fan, its good to see Brady, Gronk and the team working together. Unlike our team RAM View attachment 4184
Love Treehouse!!!! I try to make it out there a few times a year. I've been really enjoying the killer IPAS from SingleCut!

Between my son and my nephew who are about 20 min from Treehouse, I usually have a good supply. Need to look up single cut, I havent had those yet and IPA's are my go to.

Nice! I, too, am enjoying a nightcap. Since the wife broke into her Valentine’s Day truffles a bit early, I went with A de Fussigny “extra” cognac which is a great finisher.

Picked up a couple of new "bits" to try. The empty one on the right is one we purchased when we toured the Stetson Mansion in Deland, FL

Now that sounds like a fun event. They know how to throw a party in the South.

Kerry.... I think the camera lens is messing up or those bottles are too small. ;)

I’m getting drunk tonight fellas. The truck was supposed to be loaded and transported but I’m stuck in a Dallas train yard. The weather will be too nasty to fly to Abilene tomorrow so any last minute miracles won’t do me much good. I’ll live vicariously through those of you that have taken delivery and drink myself into oblivion.

Now for the big question.... where to begin the journey? 🥃

@soulsea I am headed to the store tonight to try and find spattering of your suggestions. Gonna have my own personal tasting party this weekend.

If you see anything by Wilderness Trail jump on it, especially if they have the 6yr ... but their regular bourbon is 9/10 as good and a better overall value. I just cracked open a bottle myself. :)

Haha. I love the Basil Hayden dark rye. And their Caribbean rum barrel aged one. In fact it is all I have been drinking. That is actually what led me to ask for suggestions. Time to mix it up now.

It’s probably my favorite too. Hence why I seem to always be out of it. Let me look at what I have for suggestions if you like that one.

Well after being inspired by the “leader of the band“ I have dangle my toes back into the waters.... And am thoroughly enjoying some Angle Envy... So I thank you Mr. Soulsea for the introduction. Cheers
