Compustar Pro T13

I have T13 but don’t use it for proximity unlock, I use it for passive locking with rfid. That way I know its locked when I walk away
Yes that would be good to have actually. And I had read proximity unlock can be disabled.

As much as there is back and forth about security on the forum there is so much good information to make the best decisions!

I’m the same. Turned that off on all my T13 equipped cars. Like a safety on a gun, I’m not letting someone else disarm it for me, for convenience. Had it on for the longest time with my hellcat, and got annoyed every time I opened the faraday box it would disarm and drain the battery, so that was my queue.

The best feature imo of these systems is the 2way comms, so I intend to use it.

Both options can be toggled on and off in the t13 remote, passive can in the drone app. Passive has to be toggled on in the compustar main unit though and rfid option is only available on the cmx

I had heard that Compustar will alert you if your car is being stolen, and that IGLA prevents it. I am having the T13 installed tomorrow and was told by someone there that although Compustar will not prevent the thief from cloning a key, it will prevent the car from starting (until the Compustar fob is pressed). If that truly is the case, is there any need to get IGLA too (other then to just add another security layer?). I had planned on getting IGLA installed in a few days, but now if what the installer told me is correct, I'm having second thoughts.

They are talking about the FTI-SPTS integrated security harness. They are 10% correct. It will until you unplug it, plug the factory push to start connector back in and they will start it if the did a relay/clone attack or start it because the deleted/made a new key fob. Compustar is a noise/light deterrent not an anti theft. IGLA prevents starting 100% and blocks key fobs from being deleted/made. Your installer is incorrect and thats why most pair the 2 systems together.

Got it. I knew there had to be a reason why so many people seem to use both.

Hey family,

I’ve got a security question. I think I asked on a different thread but I’ll ask here. So I see most TRX owners utilize an alarm aside from the kill switch (IGLA / Ravelco). I plan on doing the same once I get the IGLA installed. I see most use the CompuStar alarm but I already have a Viper alarm NIB at the same price point as the CompuStar. Can I just use the Viper alarm or is there something special about CompuStar that makes it better than the Viper alarm? Thanks 🙏

apple airtag (if you use an iphone) and that should complete your security solution.
Make sure you take out the speaker... (YouTube howto's on that process)

I believe @mistaHAN has it correct. Compustar has Drone that you can use for GPS tracking and many other features.

I will add that the alarm aspect, Compustar/Viper is made to add another layer of security as well as hopefully a less discreet. For example, if your truck is broken in to the Alarm aspect will be going off loud unless they have cut that horn which takes time for them to get to. I know my Compustar and the Drone starts making my phone and the FOB go off. Hopefully the alarm will deter some thieves to give up. If not this is 1 thing they need to remove first to stop drawing attention from the alarm. Now that they have defeated that the IGLA will still be there to immobilize.

IGLA alone will immobilize but it will not be all loud nor will it be setting off any of your FOBs or cell phone.

Compustar is the preferred setup because of dronemobile, gps tracking and the t13 proximity remote kit. They also have a live streaming dual channel drone xc dash cam coming out very soon. Viper has the ability to use your cellphone but no tracking. Both essentially will do the same minus tracking on the viper. Do not rely on an air tag, they only transmit when a compatible device is there to send it. Drone also has the option to upgrade to a battery backup x1 max model.

Air'd OUT SRT answers the question.

Viper Alarm + IGLA should be fine. the reason why Compustar is recommended is for integration with Drone Mobile.

I would recommend you get an apple airtag (if you use an iphone) and that should complete your security solution.
Awesome! Thank you for that insight. I’m not sure what Drone Mobile is but I don’t own or use a drone of any kind. I’d just like to utilize the new alarm I already have and it happens to be a Viper alarm. Wasn’t sure if CompuStar was “extra secure” or exactly what is great about them. Thank you again.

What @Air’d outSRT said. I used to install DEI alarms (viper), that was back when compustar wasn’t as popular. Drone is a stellar system, and even their more budget alarm packages allow drone which is a nice addition. Shows you where they spend their money, on R&D. The T13 remote and prox kit is fantastic.

Thank you for the input. My buddy used to install alarms and sound systems and he said that anything from Directed Electronics is good quality. He stated that is what Viper Alarm is. Like I said, I have a brand new Viper alarm in the box and I’d hate to order a CompuStar and spend more money when I already have something in hand that would be perfectly fine. Thanks again for input on my question. Very helpful 🙏

If you are getting IGLA installed then let me know so I can let you know the steps needed to do both together.

I will be getting an IGLA installed next week. I already have the Viper alarm in hand. I’m not sure if the guy doing the IGLA will install my alarm. What do you recommend if I have to have two separate people install each system. Is that an issue?

Not sure who is installing it, I think you said Chad, I don’t think he does alarm installs, if he did it would be compustar. I think we have one distributor that installs viper but he is NW Indiana. There are steps to take in order to program the alarm after IGLA and settings in IGLA to let remote start work. Let me know the IGLA installer and I will let him know the correct settings needed. Then when getting the viper installed it needs to be in service mode for programming. Easy peasy

I need to ask, and this is probably shows how naive/clueless I probably am. So I have IGLA/Compustar/Drone i my vehicle, but what I'm assuming is the Drone GPS antenna on my window, is unplugged then what good is Drone for tracking if it gets stolen or my kids decide to go have "fun" in it?

That is probably the antenna for your remotes. Post a pic

Also, Compustar has its own “sirens” so if someone disconnects the oem horn which i have heard is not difficult in many vehicles, you will still have the compustar alarm system sirens going off. Not sure what the Viper system has in the way of additional sirens.

Same thing if done right
