AlfaOBD Tips and Tricks

Not sure if this is the issue but you might want to go into settings, and uncheck the auto park brake. That may be your culprit?🇺🇲
That is correct I had the handbrake on Auto when I put the car into park.

It will be amazing to have a way to keep them always amber with the hand brake engaged, as well as at night with the headlights on.

If anybody tried it, kindly to let us know the steps.

Only way to accomplish this is with a Tazer DT

Never back to Tazer again,

Although it was very useful for me, the camera on with the signals as well as the auto fold and unfold when the truck is on or off as well as the auto brake hold, then the amber going all the way to the side mirrors as well.

I miss these, but I’m now happy with the OEM capabilities that alpha old gives us and would love to find a way to have it in the future work just like a tazer.

Things I still need to figure out:
1- to have the amber lights on while the handbrake is engaged.
2- find out why the DRLs are on white/ off during day time, it seems not to be consistent.

Things I need help which were not discussed here are:
1- auto brake is it possible to activate it using alpha old just like the tazer.
2- extend the DRL to the side mirrors

Just made the change, maybe just needs a few power cycles before it sets in. I drove around the block and it's still doing the chime.
I know it’s different than AlfaOBD but I tried to turn it off with JScan as well and it wouldn’t stick. Almost as if it can’t be changed or something

What year is your truck? It only works on the '23 and '24's. You have to do the buckle/unbuckle seat belt trick for the '21-22's.

Does it work permanently or do you have to do that process every time you start the truck?
It's permanent until you do it again to reverse the process. It's been the process for every Mopar vehicle up until 2023.

17 pages about amber drl's and what alfa obd cant do and only tazer can.

Is there a list around that actually shows what alfa obd is able to do, how to configure it and what people recommend?

Im sure this thread was started for that purpose but ended up becoming a how was your experience with alfaobd page.

Thinking this has been answered before, BUT, I like the amber DRLs and Clearance lights to remain on whenever the headlights or parking lights are on.. Ive got a tazer and no-limitz but had to remove both for the addition of twin turbos... in order for the RTD to pull files and sahre with HPTuners stuff there is a cable that runs to the SGW box that normally the tazer is plugged into... While they prefer I not reinstall the Tazer due to all the tuning and insane power, they say Id have to remove the SGW cable for the tuner access, then install the tazer... now fast forward, I need to run logs and files still due to some cold start issues which may take a long time to totally smooth out.. so moving these things back and forth is NOT convenient at all and Id prefer a permanent solution... So the ultimate question is why cant a guy go to the dealer and have the techs (service mgr most likely) go into the system and set these lighting features the way we want instead of all this bypassing and purchaseing of add-ons that may or may not cause other issues along the way?? I get the need to be in control of your own programiing, but for simple lighting changes cant a dealer pull that off with their OEM speced computers?? They would ahve ultimate control and access Id assume. If anyone can shed some light on my approach Id appreciate it. If there is a thread that anseres this.. show me the way! Thanks..

I used AlfaOBD for amber. I also did the wire tap in the fuse box. I have amber DRL and clearance lights all the time but if my headlights come on, the 2 DRL lines go back to white. AlfaOBD changes and the wire tap in fuse will stay unless you change and you never need to keep anything connected like the Tazer.

I would say dealerships can do what we do with AlfaOBD. If you have a good dealer maybe they do it. I think most dealerships do not do modification beyond what they are told they can do.

those are 2 different mods the drl is with either the alphaobd or the tazer the always on clearance lights is physical modification in the fuse box.

The rtd plugs into the obd2 port. The tazer plugs into the security gateway like the alphaobd. The no limitz plugs into the radio and can bus. None of those things has anything to do with idle. You do not need to remove the hp tuners pcm bypass but you also dont need to leave it in after you have your stock file and pcm unlocked.

Did you ask your dealership if they would change the settings in the software for amber drl? It's just a setting already there. Im sure they will do it for 15 or 30 or 60 min of labor. Whatever the minimum charge is.

Dealerships do not have the capability to change BCM settings like what alfaobd or tazer does.
The only things they are capable of configuring the bcm for (add sales codes for) are features that are offered as mopar kits, such as remote start, power side steps, and bed lighting.
Otherwise, they have no access to changing settings or configurations in the BCM.

Hey everyone,
I need some advice regarding 37 inch tires. I plan to use AlfaOBD to calibrate my speedometer, but I’ve read that some RAM 1500 owners also need to adjust the ABS settings. Is that necessary, and if so, are there any other settings I need to modify in AlfaOBD to ensure everything is configured correctly for the larger tires? Thanks in advance for the help!

Yes, you need to reset the ABS module with AlfaOBD, but it's really simple. I attached the instruction for making the change and resetting the ABS module. They're older instructions, so you'll just have to select your year in the menus. The new tire size might screw up your ParkSense sensors. Not sure if AlfaOBD is capable of fixing that.
