This PPE unit is $33.50 worth of extra high capacity, built-in magnet overkill.

No, I’m not cutting it open. Not until after I use it.

And while it is an impressive filter, I change oil too often and generally do not skip filter changes either. So something this expensive is just a waste to ever buy again.

Yep. Here’s their site with more details.

super excited ! by the way the Amazon ppe filters are fake , just a heads up ask me how I know
curious on how this stacks up to the srt oil filter ...my biggest concern was flow
the added length and filter media helps but time will tell thanks again !

Thank you for all your hard work and the money you spent we've all learned a lot. Some of us might change oil filters, some may stay with the same ones , but now we have the facts and the results from you so we can make now make up our own mind on which filter is the best for our REX ...We appreciate it very much!

So I did cut it open I am impressed I don't have access to test filters like the other member ...but cut it open new I know lol I am very impressed looks like a synthetic media filter nice anti drain back valve heavy duty spring so bypass open at 32psi.. built in magnet my biggest concern was flow so we don't starve our motors the end caps line up and the holes look similar ish one wider ppe and the srt is closer in to the center and the center core looks to have enough holes to flow time will see I was worried at such a low micron will it restrict flow ....

Update, I guess mainly for the 10 respondents to the poll that are using the M1. There is a new design for the M1-210A. It is now made in Vietnam and looks to have that generic overseas Premium Guard style core. Which means at ~$15 it is way overpriced. If you want the “old” M1 you can still buy it. Same exact filter is now sold in a gold can and available exclusively at WalMart as the Purolator 20k LX2 for $8.47.

Interesting that Purolator spun off Fram’s numbering system for these. And disappointing that this might be replacing the Fram Endurance on their shelves. That was a much nicer filter.

@FULLTHROTTLERICK, you should try this one instead. Supposedly same threads as the one above, but longer. ;) Let us know how it goes.

yes they make two different lengths 6 inch which I shared and a 8inch one

@MEANONETRX Maximum oil filter (6”) fits fine. I would NOT recommend the 8” one, it’ll be all over the lower rad hose. Ain’t much clearance there.

Some other observations.

Filter is made in China and looks to be a Premium Guard to me. Which is fine. Just think it’s overpriced for something not even made here.

Pre-filling took forever with the 5w50 and I still made a slight mess.

I did fit the full 8 quarts with this filter but have to put a slight asterisk next to that because I used 2 ounces for a VOA sample and probably lost another 2 on the pre-fill install spill.

Magnet built into the filter is on the tip and may not be as effective as it would in a vertical install. So I slapped my usual magnets on it anyway.

That’s about it. Everything else seems normal. Cold oil pressure ~70 PSI as it was with the M1 5w50 and SRT filter.

@FULLTHROTTLERICK, do not let him deter you. This is what they said about 40s, and you made them fit. You can make the bigger filter fit, we have faith in you! 🤣

Mostly kidding about the bigger filter. If I decide to try these out myself, it will be the "smaller" regular size PPE.

One thing about Premium Guard, I thought they were made in Vietnam? Sorry if I missed a few posts in this thread. The regular size Premium Guard branded unit I have left for the Challenger's fall oil change (and the smaller unit for the wife's 5.7 Jeep) are made there, not China.

Just did my last oil change yesterday with the Penzoil. I bought it in bulk like the SRT filters. Been changing it every 3k miles. Next change I am going Redline. Was hoping to get 4k miles out of it. @OnTheReel you think that 4k miles change is doable with Redline? Will use 0w40 since I daily my truck.

Yeah, they have plants in China, Vietnam and Korea. Most of the store brand ones they produce seem to come from Vietnam. Why this one is China I have no clue, but that center tube design is a dead giveaway. All of their stuff has it. Overall their filters are VERY nicely made though, even the super cheap ones. Just wish PPE got with Champion Labs to make this in the US (or Mexico) instead.

I’ve taken Red Line out to ~3700 on my truck. I think 4k in one that’s well broken in and not driven by a total madman would be no problem.
