RAVELCO THREAD

What happens when your truck is running and you pull the plug out? Does the entire truck just shut down?
My assumption is one of the circuits that's spliced into is the fuel pump relay control circuit, so yes, the fuel pump would stop running when the plug is pulled out.

I've had remote starts on every vehicle since the 90s, except a manual Ranger....and I only used RS about 12 times per year, if that...and I've lived in MA and now in TX, so places it is useful.

If you've got a garage that cuts use in half. And half the time when it's hot I forget to hit the button until I'm basically in the truck. I get everything ceramic tinted, so that helps. Plus, today's vehicles cool and heat pretty quickly.

The Ravelco really, to me, is for parking in unknown areas. I park right in front of my office, for example, so no real need there. I don't park at airports, so stealing it there won't happen.

So, long dinners, movies, stuff like that is what I'm getting this installed for.

Have you ever had a vehicle stolen?

I contacted a Ravelco dealer in my area today and I have tentatively scheduled mine for install once I can get my truck built and delivered to the dealership. Yeah, it is not the most ideal way to protect our trucks (no remote start) but if it means I have to sit in my truck for a few minutes to warm it up knowing it is where I left it when I parked, it is a small price to pay for peace of mind.
At home, Worst case is that you walk out, install the cap, walk back in and start it and let it warm up for 15 minutes.

.

I suppose if this were a run of the mill vehicle I might not add anything, but if stolen we are talking either buy at over MSRP or wait 4 months or so...what a nightmare.
That's my thinking as well. If they steal you don't want it back, can't get another one. Will have to get something else. That'll suck

I guess I will have to deal with that when it happens lol

I like the Ravelco and IGLA solutions but unfortunately the closet Ravelco installer is out until March and I’m waiting for latest update IGLA update.

I’m hoping the OBDSaver and Shock sensor will get me by. Anyone else running with these two items exclusively?

What am I getting with the Ravelco?

Obviously there is something better about a Ravelco.... but someone put it in real world terms on what it does vs say, a CLUB on the steering wheel and a gas pedal and brake lock.

It is on the internet, so it must be true:

You're correct. The chances are minimal.

Do you live in a nice area? If so, that may help.

For 800 bucks I'll sleep better, so to speak.
I talked to Steven this afternoon who is the Ravelco installer for the Austin/San Antonio area. He said he can meet anywhere to install and needed 2 hrs. He's also willing to install at the dealership which is in Burnet, TX. I'm going to try and get the dealership to tint the windows and let the Ravelco guy do his work before I take delivery.

Southeast Ravelco completed my install this afternoon. Bret was professional, took the time to answer a ton of questions, and left the truck as he found it (clean). I chose to go the discreet route with the device mounted upside down to the left of the hood release. You barely notice the device yet I can easily install the plug before jumping into the truck. Bret also explained the warranty and how to order new plugs. No complaints.
