RAVELCO THREAD

I can understand why some want to know ways to remove it if they ever decide to sell the truck. Seems however though this device can become increasingly popular as time passes, almost a necessity for TRXs if Ravelcos are indeed what we read around.
Judging by how popular searching and debate around this device has become in the largest TRX forum around(Ravelco replied on its email back to me "check on TRX forums for yourself")I'm sure a potential buyer will appreciate the existing system-it will add value

Let's compare and contrast another option. I always look at options.

My take is that you should 1) take that post (link) down immediately because it only enables the bad guys and is an absolute determent to our trucks and every one here and becomes a google search , and B) is there one (1) simple street criminal who would be prepared for that... ?

You have people here trying to rightfully protect their property and you want to post that bull shit ?? Move on Pal

I talked with friends on law enforcement and I mentioned the Ravelco system as the completely anti-theft device, they look at me and laugh, so I think if you invested close to 6 digits on a truck you definitely want to search for the best alarm system or combine 2 anti-theft devices, do not get blind by marketing strategies, so stop watching CNN and welcome to the real world but if you're getting paid by Ravelco I understand your frustration.

Just curious … what security device do you have on your truck? Ravelco will definitely slow them down unless they tow it away. If they do tow it then a hidden GPS tracker could assist. At the least it prevents the thieves grabbing codes and driving them away…

I'll still do this, thinking about what I have now which is basically nothing it seems. In the video It did require a visual of the hub to defeat it. Makes me wonder though if it's a good idea to have it visible on the dash... maybe installed at an angle out of sight? I'm sure a prepared thief going in knowing it's equipped with such system would facilitate, but if caught by surprise it could greatly help deter the aholes. Thoughts?

Yeah, at first I liked the "Into the leather" install location pictured above, but now I'm thinking an upside down install would be best.

. . . most difficult to poke and prod with a set of leads, while trying to remain inconspicuous in the driver seat. *shrug*

I assume that dude is Russian...I don't speak Russian and I really don't know how long that really took. Certainly not a couple three minutes.

So, what does that guy recommend then?

BTW...he has the door open. If the alarm is on opening the door would sound the horn, correct? Perhaps a simple shock sensor added with the Ravelco would be sufficient.

I doubt anyone here is being paid by Ravelco. So, sure, I am trying to combine options. Ravelco plus shock sensor, for one option. Mutli-option Viper system - siren, shock, tilt and engine kill.

What do you recommend?

That's my top choice so far as well.

. . . Ravelco + Shock sensor on OEM fob.

That video is classic. I thought it would be something simple, but he looked like he was defusing a bomb. Had a hand written diagram and shit to record his results. If I get fucked by comrade Ivan Drago I'm going to just chalk that up as a lulz and a thank god for insurance.

For those that are interested. Here is the video.

$155 bucks and they say it is a 40 minute install job that you can do yourself. This with the Ravelco seem like a reasonable combination. You already cannot open the door or the horn sounds, so bust a window now, the horn sounds. That should end it, but if not them having to screw with the missing plug will certainly cause them to hit the road.

They also have a module for the tail gate too. I am probably going to have that installed too. I like the way it all works with the factory fob.
