What do you plan on towing?

I almost pull the trigger on a Desert Sled... Do you ride the Ducati much?

I do as it is my "commuter" bike. I used to daily ride the HD Road Glide (weather permitting) and though I handle it well it is kinda big for downtown metro city riding (my office is in the city). So wanted something smaller for going into town - hence the Ducati Scrambler (Sport Pro 1100). It is a beast, light and easy to maneuver. It effortlessly pulls away from ANYTHING.

Will be getting this ready in the next month.

Just returned from the first family trip. Was a 1000km trip. I weighted in at the scales before and after hook-up just for my own piece of mind. Unloaded total with me, kid and full tank of gas was 6900lbs.
loaded up with the wife and gear plus toy hauler the weight came in at about 11,500 lbs.
according to the scale I was within 200lbs max payload and had the capacity to add 2,000lbs of toys in the trailer. (No toy this trip).
I used a weight distribution hitch of course. minimal sag, was about level maybe an inch more squated compared to the front. I also had a half cord of wood in the box for campfires.
In the end it was a very pleasurable ride! I would not be concerned if I added toys in the trailer. Also my MPG was the same at 105kms/hr all the way up to 118kms /hr on flat-ish highway.
the only downside I could find and I didn’t care to much but could bug some ppl. It was the exhaust sound bouncing off the trailer, definitely increased the drone.
i found about 110kms in 7th put it at ~2,000rpm and the drone was loud. Same speed in 6th held engine around 2500 and was substantially quieter.
I can’t wait for my max tow across canada next summer!
happy towing!

Does my wife’s shopping bags in an enclosed trailer count? Better yet does the 1 ton of damn cardboard received weekly count?

Nothing too heavy, but I have a lot of options.
The Tiny trailer I will use to haul my 2018 Sportsman 570 Camo and other stuff I don't want in the bed of the TRX...
And yes, the 2x 100lb Doggos will ride in the backseat area with the seats folded up.

If I hook up my boat behind the Wrangler and then the TRX behind my motorhome, I’ll be ready for the apocalypse!

I will just use the TRX to tow our small utility trailer with the Can Am on it. The TRX is replacing the Jeep Mojave I had before. I still own a Ram 3500 that will be used to tow the bigger utility trailer and the toy hauler.

How did the Gladiator do towing?
I sold my Raptor a couple weeks ago and have been driving a Grand Cherokee until I get another truck…. deposit on the TRX but considering changing to a 3.6 AWD Gladiator, kinda liking the smaller size around the city!

Quite frankly, the Gladiator was pretty horrible at towing. Even with a small trailer that had a loaded weight of just 2700 lbs it would have to downshift four gears and rev at 4500 RPM to maintain 65 mph on the interstate. The problem is the small six cylinder gas engine, which makes no torque unless it is revved up that high. It only got 8 mpg towing 2,700 lbs. In contrast, my Ram 3500 got 10 mpg towing 27,000 lbs over the same section of interstate at the same speed. And the Ram would tow ten times the weight while staying in high gear at just 1600 RPM. I know you cant compare a six cylinder gas engine to a six cylinder diesel engine, but I still think you can safely say that the Gladiator was poor at towing anything.

I liked the Gladiator for everything else, just don't hook a trailer to it.

I was afraid of that and it is what has me thinking the TRX is more my do everything choice. I only tow 3500lbs once or twice a year but we head out to the mountains, so I need something that can pull it. The TRX seems to fit that role.
I had thought the 3.0 diesel Gladiator might work but it kinda sucks you can’t get the AWD option with it.

Read up on cooling issues while towing with the diesel Gladiator. The Gladiator's cooling capacity is inadequate for that engine, and the engine computer de-throttles the engine to compensate. Several people have reported not being able to maintain 45 mph up any sort of grade while towing in summer months with their diesel Gladiator.
