VIN “811 & 812” April Order Group

Guess it depends on how much "a bit more" is.

On the four bought from our out of state dealer this year, it has been savings of around $9K per vehicle.
If also counting ADMs the "local" dealers wanted on the TRXs, that's another $10K per vehicle.

I can buy a lot of oil, filters, and even a few "loaner vehicles" for that money. But yes, it's a 900-mile round trip to pick them up, instead of only 300.
Having to pull a trailer is worth it to me. Which I would have to do no matter what dealer I use.
This right here! All the TRX’s within 500 miles of me (including the local dealer) are $20,000 over sticker. I’m more than happy to drive 700 miles to pick up a truck that was special ordered and damn near $5,000 below sticker. Plus the trip home takes care of the break in miles. I did the same thing when I bought the Challenger Hellcat I used to have, but that trip home was 1,600 miles. It’s actually a lot of fun!

Getting my TRX at MSRP about 30 mins away because I’ve bought the other vehicles from them. Never overpaid by more than a thousand or two vs the volume dealers across the country I used for benchmarks. And I do think I get that value back in good service, time, mileage and effort saved.

I’m definitely not talking an extra 9k per vehicle, that must be California pricing.

Well, I have an 812 in D1 and I'm going to pick up a different truck on Wednesday. Time to see what to do with the 812

The difference is your dealership actually cares about repeat business. I tried to buy my 2012 Power Wagon from the local guys and they were ridiculous. Bought a 2016 Challenger Hellcat at a different dealer after trying to buy local. Lastly, was looking at a 2020 Power Wagon but the sales staff was so rude that I bought my 2020 Raptor just so I could avoid the dealership. I actually sent an email to the head of the service department thanking them for taking such good care of me for 16 years after buying the Raptor.

My only point was…you often see people on here and other forums bitching about the terrible service and lack of care they receive. Since that doesn’t reflect my experiences, I wonder just how many of them are taking their out of state vehicle to the local dealer. And what impact that has on their service quality and priority, loaners, etc.

I know it shouldn’t affect it at all but you have to think it does when the dealer doesn’t view you as a customer. Warranty work isn’t a guaranteed winner for them, especially on jobs where techs can’t beat the book. Or when they have to fight for approval and reimbursement with the manufacturer. Happens often.

There are always exceptions, just giving my general reasoning for buying locally when practical.

Well all you 800 series vins in D1....congrats....I am a 764 and rocking 54 days in D status.

If only you had ordered a '22 instead. At least one of them is supposedly being built right now, and will be delivered in August.

And before you say "That's impossible", let me point out that I read it right here on the internet, so it is true.

Why would I say its impossible? Nothing you say about this process would I find surprising after what I have witnessed the last 60 days

Anyone who has a build sheet- I’m curious what options you selected?
(Or didn’t)

Ordered mine aug20, 2020 and it is in jb status. I reckon it all depends on dealer allocation. Chatting with them does not get it built any quicker.
Wow long wait! You definitely deserve to see your truck! Hope it has already arrived or arriving soon.

Did my weekly FCA chat. Not surprised but I’m still in the same status.

I’m one of the few who didn’t order the 19 speaker, or the pano. Tech was a must because my Silverado has the HUD and camera mirror and I love it. Same for the Safety group w/ ACC. You start to rely on features in other vehicles and don’t want to go without.

Lmao too true...had the vented seats in my Laramie now cannot live without! Sure I will feel the same about adaptive cruise, the HUD etc lol

Does anyone know why so many 812 and 813 vins are being built ahead of the 811s?

If it makes you feel any better I’m 813082 and a lot of higher 813’s going before me. I don’t understand it either. It has to be how they are equipped.
I had a truck that was one number below mine built. That stung!

Like others have said, no real reasoning I can see based off the VIN alone.
