TRX Stock Wheel specifications - Offset, etc.

Cool. My gut tells me that while they won’t rub on a full lock turn, they will likely impact body in jumps/rock crawling. This is a 20” wheel with 35’s below. Would really prefer more sidewall but if I have to choose between bigger brakes or less sidewall, I’m choosing brakes.

Know what the lightest wheel for 20x9 is thats strong enough to take abuse? Prefer open spoke design. Is 20x9 the right width for new wheels? I always prefer more tire

I would also prefer more brakes. Sounds like the existing systems begins to fade way too quickly. Might be fine for everyday driving but not so much for heavy off-road use.

For those running aftermarket tires, don't forget that the OEM tires are 13.5 wide, which has a lot to do with the difficulty of putting 700hp to the ground. When you reduce your tire width to 12.5, you are losing a lot of contact patch surface area so keep that in mind...

Didn't do the math on the OEMs. That'll probably change my mind back to 13.5 again :p

But the 12.5” will be lighter. If you can manage the wheel spin then you will possibly improve the pace.

Weight is totally dependent on the tire, there are many factors that go into it not just the width.

For those looking at aftermarket tires, I am not aware of any out there with the same dimensions and speed rating as the factory Territory tires. I have seen some that have the same dimensions, but lower speed rating. If anyone finds any that match the factory tire specs, please share that info!

Is there any information on the sizes of the stock bead-locks ? Size / Widths / Offsets ?

I just bought a 2021 TRX, I ordered 37 x 12.50 x 18 Toyo AT 3 tires for the truck. I want to change the stock rims. I know the stock rims are 6x139.7 bolt pattern, I know that the stock offset is +19 and the stock rims are 9 inches wide. If I get a new rim that is 9.5 inches wide, how do I know what the new rim offset should be? Do I have to have to have the same +19 offset on the new rims? or can it be just close like +12? Some rime that I like will fit but the offsets are different for a lot of rims that have the right bolt pattern. Can anyone help explain? Does it make a big difference for the offset from a 9inch stock rim to a 9.5 inch new rim? Stock tires are 13, my new tires are 12.5.

I'd probably try to stick with a +20 to +25 offset if you can find it. +25 would have the outside of the wheel sitting at the same location as the stock wheels, but the inside of the wheel would be further in. I don't think you would have any clearance issues on the inside with that minor of a change, but I don't know for certain. Since the 12.50 is a little more narrow, you might get away with a 9.5" wide wheel that has a +12 to +15 offset, but some rubbing might happen.

It worked out perfect, the new 37 inch tires and the new rims look awesome with no clearance issues at all. Thanks for your feedback!

Also, the offset on the new rim was plus 12 on an 18 inch rim, worked perfect with the 12.5 /37/18 Toyo tires.

Can you post a picture of the finished look/stance?

Yes you give up a little but not really enough to notice.. I do like the height difference plus the Nitto Ridge Grapplers will put the OEM tires to shame off road where I go not to mention a WHOLE lot tougher.

@BusaDave Do you think those Nittos can go on stock wheels with no rubbing since they aren’t as wide or do they need to be pushed out? Thx!

That is the million dollar question. From just my looking at the lock to lock of the factory weiner skins I would say most likely it will work BUT may lose some travel and have some contact. THAT IS WHY I DID NOT put them on the next day after I bought the truck. The speed rating thing does not bother me as much as I will be keeping it below 120. Been over 200 more times than I can count in my highly modified C7 Z06 and my old Busa which was modified. Trucks scare me at real high speeds---everything from the tires to the drivelines are not designed to go that fast.
