Tri State TRX (NY,NJ,CT)

The receipt doesn't matter if it's still over 6,000 lbs, so you gotta figure out a way to remove 400lbs or know a guy that can help you out and sign off on the truck being under 6,000.

The verbiage says that if you are OVER 6001 lb you can register it as a passenger vehicle with a camper top so a bed cap with windows should be OK

Maybe I have a light truck my reg says 5999 lbs is this a typo 🤷🏼‍♂️

When all of us New York Staters are forced to eventually leave --- It will feel like moving to America no matter where we go!
NJ is the same, shitty weather, expensive as hell, and to much red tape. The problem where to go to?

I see it can be greater than 6,000 lbs with those modifications, but do they actually inspect your vehicle or do they just take your receipt and believe you did the mods, that is the main question. I haven't dealt with a DMV other than CT and CT inspects you for this sort of thing.

DMV does not check anything, I had passenger plates on my 2500 power wagon , just waiting on my title to transfer my passenger plates and turn in the commercial plates , just tell them you installed a permanent camper top and you sign a form and that’s it

I’ve been told you need to bring the truck to a DMV office to have them sign off.

Does the 6000 pound limit applies to NJ also? What is the difference between a comercial registration and passenger?

No - my 3500 Dually is registered as a passenger vehicle in NJ, with a GW (gross weight) of 7,351. NJ only requires commercial plates on vehicles used for commercial purposes.

See here for info. on non-commercial truck registration:
https://www.state.nj.us/mvc/vehicles/noncomtrucks.htm

Note the last line:
"You will receive regular passenger plates when you register your non-commercial truck."

Awesome. Thank you. I was beginning to worry. Where in Jersey are you? I am in the Clinton area. Should get my truck in 3 weeks

Just down the road from you - I'm in Readington. I was supposed to have my TRX by now (built on 3/10), but it's still stuck in final inspection purgatory. Maybe sometime in May.

Wow cool . There is another guy near Clinton that just got his truck . We are going to meet for coffee and part the 2 trucks next to each other. Let me know when you get yours. Maybe the 3 of us should meet for a cup one day in the early summer

I will have one available when I get the truck back from xpel and ceramic coating this week. I am looking to get MSRP as there is only around 100 miles on the truck.

I've seen guys ordering from the parts department for around 1100-1200, so if I can't scoop up a used one for around1k I'll just get one new from parts. Let me know.

NJ lets you decide what kind of registration you want.
Got Putco Bed Rails with T slot for cross bars and a bed cover installed. Now working on some storage solution for stuff in the bed

I will just hold onto it at that price. Best of luck getting it through the dealer, the replacement bed rail covers that aren’t drilled through are proving to be a pain to get. One side is ordered and the other on back order. 🤷🏻‍♂️

So apparently my invoice worked just waiting on the the official registration of a passenger vehicle to come to show ya how it's done🤷🏽‍♂️
