Shits getting stolen left and right

I have a faraday pouch I keep my fobs in in my purse or pocket when I’m out. We also have faraday boxes that we store the fobs in at home as well. I’d rather not take any chances. (Make sure you test whatever you buy, the first one I bought didn’t work at all. )

As a fail safe, we have a shotgun or two, a backhoe and the neighbors have pigs. 😂 (Just kidding. Maybe)
You don't mess with Tiffers!

The penalty for all crimes in the U.S is too lenient.

I believe its the only way to decrease crime. Raise the stakes.
Either the fear of the penalty will deter them, or the fact they are locked up dead (death penalty) will 100% reduce crime.

Asking people to be nice, carrying signs, Facebook posts where people write "can't we just all get along/behave/etc" won't help. Neither will asking people to be better parents. "Come on, be a better parent!" posts on Facebook are seen often, but don't help. The people that are good parents, don't need the message and the ones that need the message aren't going to change their ways because someone asked.

Much stricter penalties are needed.
Parenting only goes so far, My folks were great and I was still a little shit got into tons of trouble. Luckily I pulled my head out of my ass and got my shit together. My brother was the same way.

That constant feeling of worry has me already contemplating selling it and going back to something boring. I've found myself looking at Ford rangers for fucks sake.
They steel boring vehicles too. My son's Tacoma just got stolen from an underground lot at his apartment complex in Denver. It was recovered 2 days later and was basically trashed. The problem with Lo Jack and other GPS devices is that even if you get your vehicle back it's likely to be in bad shape and will never feel the same. BTW, Denver PD had no interest in catching the thief.

I used to think Porsche was behind the times, a 2021 vehicle still requiring you to put the key in the ignition??? NO. Ahead of the game by staying behind the times.

How does that prevent someone from hot wiring it? My son's Tacoma needs a key to start it. That didn't prevent it from being stolen.

Im going with the club
Good luck. The club can be removed in less than 30 seconds with a hacksaw. At best it's a visual deterrent for amateur thieves.

Just watch Deadwood series if you don't believe the part about pigs.

My kid got me a Club for Christmas. I also have a faraday bag. Next up will be the Ravelco. Gunna' make 'em work for it if they want it.

What's the latest on your truck, Neil?

UPDATE on stolen Redeye. As has been mentioned in this thread, my Redeye was lifted from a hotel parking lot 5.5 weeks ago. My keys were in a faraday bag that worked flawlessly. The thief knocked out my passenger window and somehow started the car. Don't know if it was through a laptop or hotwire. The hotel video showed that it took about 20 seconds to gain entry, start, and get gone. The car has not been seen since. I did not want it back, so this is good as far as I'm concerned. A positive for me, from a shitty situation...insurance just paid me $15K more than I paid 2 years ago.
But..to add insult to injury, yesterday I received a notice from Dodge to bring my Redeye in for a replacement module that will make my car much more difficult to steal. It will essentially make it impossible to use a laptop to start the car. TOO LATE DODGE!!!!

Are we talking about old vs new cars? Hotwiring newer cars isn't really a thing anymore.

This is exactly what I've done. After the Redeye was stolen so easily, I couldn't trust that the TRX wouldn't have the same happen. I traded it in for a new Bronco. Thieves are targeting Dodge/Ram for the hellcat motor resale. No-body is thinking "Quick Getaway" in a 6 cylinder bronco.

I hear that, if mine was stolen I don't know if I would want it back unless they caught the person right away. I am surprised Chrystler isn't actively doing something to remediate this. I haven't read up on the technical side yet, now I will!

This might be a totally stupid idea, but if they are getting the vehicles to run by connecting a laptop to the OBD port, could some kind of locking cap be made that denies access to the port?

Eventually they would be able to remove it, but it would buy time. Thieves don’t want to be in there long.

The Club is useless, they just cut the steering wheel. When I get my TRX it will be locked in my garage with motion sensors tied to my home security and the garage door physically locked with military grade padlocks that can’t be cut with bolt cutters. Key fobs will be in faraday bags. When I am away from home I plan on relying on the CarLock device that will alert me of any vibrations and a pedal lock on the brake and gas pedal. I also might keep my mother-in-law in the back seat..lol

I think it’s more than that. When the police responded to my stolen Redeye, he said what they’ve seen on the cars they’ve recovered, thieves are pulling wires from beneath the glove box and starting the cars. I’d imagine it is the same or could potentially be the same for the TRX.
