I have the auto pro kit, anyway to make red lights work as brake lights instead of DRL?
There is. It requires wiring the harness differently. I can tell you how to do it or if you want to buy a new auto operation only harness put it in the notes what you want and that we talked on here and we will get you one built and shipped out. Let me know what you'd prefer. In that scenario the red lights will come on with the brakes lights and flash with the turn signals. The trigger wire for the turn signals and brake lights are the same wire in the trailer light harness. I've had one person mention the pod flashed slightly out of time with the trucks turn signal but no one else I am aware of has experienced that.I have the auto pro kit, anyway to make red lights work as brake lights instead of DRL?

You'll have to remove the protective coating off of all of the harness. Currently the right and left Light pod connectors are spliced together. Those will have to be seperated. Cut the wires from the splice point behind the one connector. Only cut the one pig tail off to leave the other portion in tact. You should now have one connector with three wires separated from the rest of the harness. Tape the wires individually where the wires were cut away from the harness. Now cut the three wires still attached to the harness at the splice location near the T connector harness where they are spliced in.Yeah, if you have instructions I'll give it a shot.
Great customer service. I can say I HATE wiring and I almost puked reading this, is how much I hate electrical stuff haaaYou'll have to remove the protective coating off of all of the harness. Now that the harness is deconstructed you can begin reassembly.
The white wires from both pod light pigtails are the ground wires. Those can be spliced together at the ends and spliced into the white wire of the T harness that connects to the truck.
Next you will take the blue wires from each pod light pigtail and splice them together and splice them in to the blue wires of the T harness.
Next take the brown wire in the pod light pigtail that will go to the driver's side pod light and splice it to the yellow wire in the harness that connects to the truck.
Last take the brown wire from the passenger side pigtail and connect it to the green wire in the harness that connects to the truck. Secure all of the wires and plug everything in. You should now have white lights that come on with the reverse lights, both pods should come on with the brake lights and each side should flash with the turn signal on that side.
Let me know if you have any questions.
We do our best. I actually like wiring almost as much as welding and I love welding.Great customer service. I can say I HATE wiring and I almost puked reading this, is how much I hate electrical stuff haaa
Awesome. I’m glad it was helpful.I ended up rewiring everything but it is working perfectly. I used your instructions to figure out all of the wiring so that was super useful, thank you!
Where / how can I purchase this harness? My ridged lights with red radiant backlight are installed and now I’m ready to connect them. Thx for the help!Thank you very much. The price on the website includes two powder coated brackets, two lights and the reverse light wiring harness. That harness isn’t plug and play as it is. I have the materials I need to build out the plug and play addition coming over the next few days. Once I build that portion of the harness And test it, I’ll know what additional cost that will be. I can add that to any order and can even make one that will work with people who already have the reverse light harness. As soon as I have a price on the plug and play version I’ll post that up. As far as the two lights, the pros are brighter than the sports. For the minimal price difference I prefer the pros but the sports are nice too. Thank you again for the kind words.
Can you shoot me a picture of the connector receptacle on your lights? Also which options do you want for the lights? Auto operation only or the ability to manually control the white light as well?Where / how can I purchase this harness? Yep. Just unplug the 7 pin from behind the bumper and plug the T harness in. Then plug the two plugs into the light pods.Hi Guys,
My auto operation kit arrives tomorrow. I am still a little confused if it just plugs and plays off the trailer harness or if I still have to run it to the engine bay and power off of the battery.
Yes it connects right there. Dropping the spare helps zip tie the wires so they don't dangle as well.Is it between the gray section and this black section? I just popped the whole thing out so I don't have to drop the spare.
I am sure it will make more sense once I actually see it, I just try to prepare.
That makes sense. ThanksYes it connects right there. Dropping the spare helps zip tie the wires so they don't dangle as well.
I dropped my spare and tied it up nicely. I wish I had of opted for the harness that I could've wired to the Aux. Main reason is because I have yet to see the white lights from back of the truck and if I let the wife in it to hit reverse, she will likely run me over on purpose. As @GC34 said that is correct. I didn’t drop my spare when I did ours but many said it was easier that way. I didn’t have any issues but I’m also used to working in tight spaces. It would provide a lot more room to remove the spare though.
Put the truck in run mode but don't turn it on. With the E brake still on you should be able to shift to reverse, step out and see the lights for yourself.I dropped my spare and tied it up nicely.
