Shifts And Grins Reverse Light Brackets And Diode Dynamics Lights

If you can get some pics at night of the amount of light broadcast to the side it would be great. Ie, from the driver's seat looking into the side mirrors. No worries if that's a PITA. Thanks!
I'd love to see this as well. I only have an issue backing out of garage at night. It's tight and I use my mirrors and backing out almost blind. I assumed the back up lights would offer little illumination on sides and was looking at mounting some type of light possibly with remote on interior of garage, either side of garage door frame. Yes, I could turn on interior lights , but would have to jump out and turn them off and head back to truck. Not the end of the world, but it's a scratch, scrape just waiting to happen.
I've always been able to see fine in the side mirrors with other trucks. I might be missing something super obvious. 8 ft doors, tight, little margin for error.

So these aren’t perfect… brake lights first, parking lights only second and then various shots with the truck in reverse which lights up the SC1 pros.

Hope that helps. I also use my mirrors when backing up and before the pods it was dark… the pods really light up everything…

Thank you. That's very helpful. Looks like they might add a little extra to the sides, so I'll probably go ahead and pull the trigger on them.

Unfortunately they do not work in reverse. Looked all over the place for pics of the wire harnesses, or explanations, but nada. Nothing on the S&G site about the instructions so I only have access to the Aux switch (White) and DRLs (Red). When both Aux switch and DRLs are turned on the white light prevails.

@Shifts_And_Grins - any insight? Can you confirm on your Plug N Play trailer harness if the wires are supposed to connect trailer tow park light and trailer tow backup lamp fees only, or should there be a connection to the electric brake feed? Do I need another power source since I hooked into the Aux instead of the battery? Thx
Which kit do you have? Sorry if I missed that. We have installation instructions on our site but happy to help here. Since you have the Auxiliary switch hooked up I’ll assume you have the full harness that came with a switch and relay.

Question for ya. Have the lights hooked up but they only turn red when DRL are turned on, and white when I hit the AUX button. Just realized that when in reverse the white lights do not turn on, and when in reverse the red light does not turn on.

Is this how they are supposed to operate? I thought I would have both the brake and the reverse lights functioning but maybe not. This would be in addition to the Aux switch and DRLs. Thanks!
I can help with the wiring. If it’s easier to call we can do that or I can try to help on here. Let me know what works for.

Sweet. I have this kit plus the Plug N Play harness.

I cut up the DD harness and threw out the relay and wires directly to the Aux power and a ground in the engine bay.

Plug N Play harness is plugged in, but only only the Aux activates the white light and the red light is activated when the headlights or DRL are turned on.

Thanks for any insight, would love to get the lights to activate if when in reverse, braking or both.

With that kit it should light up in reverse. Let me pull up my wiring diagram and get back to you. The brake lights are a different light and harness. There is a way to modify the plug and play harness to get the red lights to light up with brakes but they won’t light up any brighter if the lights are on already. I hope that makes sense.

That makes sense, but I am wondering why the reverse lights will not turn on automatically. Not that big of a deal since I can just hit the AUX switch, but I say the more automation the better.

Lights are wicked bright though, real good quality and an overall easy install, except for this one glitch. I'm going to check the harness over the weekend to see if maybe one of the pins came loose or some oddity like that.

we switched the harnesses we start with for the plug and play recently. Does your harness have a blue and red lead?

Did you connect blue on the plug and play harness to blue on the main harness and red to yellow?

For some reason I think the main harness was blue and brown, brown being the running lights and blue being what I think is reverse as the blue wire is in the middle of the 7 pin connector.

And blue did not go to blue, it was potentially blue to brown. I need to check to see actual colors, but all wires were properly tucked away so I have unzip them and take a look.

Odd that the DRL lights work but not reverse. Maybe the pin is not fully seated in the harness, something I should check.

Yes make sure it is fully seated on both sides and send a photo of the connections where 7 pin plug and play connects to the main harness if you can.

I forgot I had a picture prior to installing. Can you zoom in to see what you are looking for?

Yes. That is the harness from the old supplier. Brown on the plug and play harness to blue on the full harness that runs to the front of the truck. Blue on the plug and play harness to yellow on the main harness. . Make sure you are hooked up that way.

Yeah, it is hooked up that way as the DRL red lights turn on but not the white reverse lights. Not a big deal since I wired directly to the Aux so I can manually turn on.

I want to make sure it is working correctly and make sure you get any replacement parts if needed. Trying to narrow down where the problem is so we can make sure it is fixed. Let me look through my wiring diagrams and I’ll get back to you.

Will the SSC2 pods fit within the confines of your tow hook brackets?
I don’t know for sure. It would very close but I’m thinking no. I won’t be able to test it until tomorrow or Saturday but I believe I have a tow and I have lots of SSC2s so I’ll give it a try.
