RIPATUNED 800

Just out of curiosity did you grab your MPH on those passes and calculate HP based on it and compare to the dyno results? The stock TRX MPH in the 1/4 matches really well (705hp) with the advertised motor output.
Unfortunately I did not get the MPH, wished I would have. I will be going back to the dyno this week hopefully. I will be gathering a lot more info this go round.

I actually picked up an average 1 mpg (from 11-12 when going from stock to the R-TRX 800 on my daily driver. Obviously results will vary depending on how you adapt to the added power. For me, my driving style did not change therefore the gains are real.

I’m curious too if bigger injectors means the minimal amount of fuel it will squirt is higher. I know bigger injectors means it can push more fuel with heavier use, but idk if the minimums are effected. I know for me a pulley doesn’t really effect fuel economy negatively for me.

The R-TRX 800 kit retails for $4999.99. We are putting a group buy together in the next week or two that will save you some coin as well.
 
Fuel economy generally will rise 10% due to a much more efficient tune under cruise situations. The injector size has nothing to do with mpg as they are scaled accordingly.

E85 will use 25% more fuel but it is also
Generally 25% percent cheaper than pump gas so it is a wash, with WAY more power and knock protection.

Why are you expecting more than 100hp? It’s literally called their 800 kit and the stock motor is 700…

BoostedToy already touched on it but the reason Hennessy is making that power level with those mods is because they are running a much larger blower. Boost doesn’t really mean anything. CFM is what makes power. You can run the same delta P out of small and large blowers and turbos and the power is based on CFM which equates equally to size as well as your PR. In addition, as you get to the upper limits on what the supercharger (or turbocharger) can produce then you get the hairdryer effect. You are way outside of the efficiency range of the compressor and just end up heating air rather than compressing it. As a result, your actual air density doesn’t go up and your intake charge gets hotter so you have to pull timing / add fuel, etc. You will always make more power by running the same boost level with a larger higher CFM blower.

The reason folks need e85 to get the same numbers on the stock blower as Hennessy gets on pump gas is to mitigate the high temperature of the intake charge due to the poor thermal efficiency from over spinning the blower.

Boost is certainly not boost as you say.

Edit: To be as accurate as possible, m-dot (mass flow rate) is actually what correlates directly to power (that’s why you see lb/min ratings on turbos, etc). Mdot is the combination of CFM and PR (pressure ratio). So assuming the same boost level, CFM then does drive power production, but just wanted to make that assumption clear.
Ripa used to advertise RWHP. With an incognito pulley there saying 50-70 hp. Your saying when you take that and add a smaller upper pulley (piles of boost), larger injectors, ecu unlock and a professional tune it only adds 30??

Their lower pulley adds maybe 50 awhp and then doing the 3.09 upper (which is only a nats ass bit smaller than the stock upper) will add another 50 awhp.

I’m not sure what’s not “logical captain” for you since the data is really clear… just seems you haven’t actually researched it in the slightest. Here is the pulley cross reference…

As you can see, most folks just do the 2.85 upper which nets 100-110 awhp gain. That has the blower at 18.6k RPM. Blower RPM equals boost in this case since no other changes in hardware aside from pulley. Running an incognito lower (9%) with a 3.09 upper (the TRX-800 kit) will put you just under that since the ATI lower (10%) with that upper also makes 18.6k RPM.

Did they do a baseline dyno run on your truck stock with the front driveshaft still connected? I have nothing against Ripatuned but they did ignore my question about why on their dyno charts they did the stock run in a lower gear and whether that was a true AWD dyno or only turning the rear wheels. I’m personally weary of shops that over promise and prefer the ones that under promise.

Again, this motor has been around for 7 years. All of these packages have been done on the hellcats for literally that long. Want to learn something? Jump over on the hellcat forum and do some reading. All of the info is there with plenty of data and dyno sheets.

SxSblog garage channel on YouTube just dynoed a TRX and only gained 35 RWHP with incognito pulley from Ripatuned. Went from like 586 to 619RWHP. 🤷🏼‍♂️ 24 minutes and 40 seconds into the video 😉

So are they doing a stock and after dyno on an AWD dyno in the same conditions and same gear then to settle the discussion? If not you’re gonna have to take it to the track to get a couple good MPH data points in the 1/4. That you can at least use to get accurate whp. Dynos lie as anyone will tell you and them posting their stock numbers as low as they are already indicates they either fudged the numbers or did that pull hot and others cold. Ripas own dyno numbers for the 800 kit show 110whp gain over what other folks are measuring stock and I’m guessing what they would have measured in the same gear. So pick it up and go to the track.

I-like-HP thank you for sharing that. That seems very believable to add about 50chp/35awhp via the incognito lower pulley. That stock dyno number at 585whp also matches Hennessy and others (versus the 540whp from Ripa). That would suggest adding the 3.09 upper gives you another 65-75 whp to get you in that 100-110 whp gain range for the blower at 18.6k RPM. Sounds about right…I might have given the 9% lower a little too much credit given it’s not tuned for.
 
Chiming in here my incognito did add boost but I had a stock TRX with bigger tires, ADD bumpers pull on me. Not sure why but feel like my truck is underperforming. Ran exactly the same 0-60 times before and after the pulley. 1-2 boost increase for zero performance.

Tune it.
 
Thats my next step, trying to figure out which tune/company to go with. The group buy has my attention but theres plenty of tuners out there. Tim Barth and Satera both have been super helpful in diagnosing my truck so may end up with them. They both are saying cat over temp causing over fueling, may have fouled plugs as they've seen it plenty of times with TRXs in hot climates.

Very possible. Thermal management is key with these motors. And that’s one reason I am pulling the cats.
