RFH Lock now available on TRX trucks

I thought the signal from the key fob was constantly changing ? well that what the dealer says anyway.

Has anyone heard if '23' will bring anything new on this subject ?

As a dodge tech with access to everything I can assure you Mopar has not released the update for the Trx yet. They maybe flashing the RFH module with the available software for the charger etc. I can do the same and I’m sure it will be fine. But it also may not be.

Anyways the real thing you should do is look into a IGLA device. We offer it at Uptown CDJR in Dallas.

The device stops the ability of Programing keys erasing keys. Starting the vehicle ( ie repeater attacks)
Also stoops the ability for repeater attack to remote start and do a take over. Vehicle will not be able to come out of gear.

Device is so small and undetectable. I install these on all vehicles. Trackhawks. Trx charger challenger durango. All works the same.

The small device just works and when it is disarmed it allows keys to be programmed. So it doesn’t completely lock down the module which isn’t the best of ways the offense could of been approached.

FYI you can find a key on eBay or Amazon for a fraction of the cost.
Hi. I just got my 2022 TRX used in August. It only come with one key. So I tried using alfaobd to program another key fob for spare . It failed I can't read the pin code. Would this be a sign my TRX have this RF hub locked ? How can I tell if the RF hub on my truck is locked?
If it is lock can this be unlock? Or you i really have to replace the rf hub .
I also can not change my vehicle configuration.. I can connect to the body computer and get in the configuration page but the change I made doesn't apply.

Above you mention in order to add new key if your key were all lost or damage with RF hub is on locked down you are not able to program new key.. the FCA install this feature from factory without letting vehicle owner know of this prior to purchase would be lame. Unless the previous owner have this done to the truck then decided to sale it. Either way if my trx have this RF hub locked then I screwed
Any advice for me ? Thank you

As far as i know the RF lockdown hasnt been made for the Ram TRXs, only for the dodge brand hellcats. Hell ive always demanded a second key made on any vehicle i got lol. Salesmen never gave me any issues about it when i asked for one. They just included it in the dealerships IOU contract that they owe me another key on them. Never hurts ask your dealership you bought it from for another key on them since you were only given one, plus depending on if u got the extended warranties, i think the mopar one gives you like 2 free keys a year or something

Since I'm not local to the dealer where I get it from. It already hard for me to rea h them once the truck left their lots. I asked the sale guy many time before the final signing to complete the purchase he is like Don worry it will be with the truck when you get um..
3 week later I pick up my truck at the shipping port. Only one key. Called him to ask for the second key..... he change the subject or promise to get some with an answer to call me back.... here I am nothing... the sale manager finally call me after like 2 week and say they were given only 1 key fob when they get the truck.. so I asked for pin code so I can program my own key that I paid 134$ on ebay.. he told hold as he walk to the parts department and then come back on the phone and say. The code is only good for 30 minute and that I won't have enough time to program the new fob... smell like BS,...

Right now I have to wait for lien to work some thing out with my local dmv.

I have the 2022 TRX how can I confirm if my TRX have this new security update installed?
Any one with a 2022 can confirm this?

The only real way to tell is to go through with trying to program another fob.
Using AlfaOBD or Jscan to pull the PIN won’t be an indicator because they aren’t even capable of reading the PIN on the 5th gens right now.

As far as car configuration changes, sounds like you don’t have the security gateway bypassed?

The PIN that the parts department pulls is 4 digit. As far as how long it’s good for, here is what I have discovered:
- The PIN you receive from the parts department (the only person authorized to obtain it) can only be used when programming a fob using the wiTECH 2 server. So, if you’re not going using wiTECH subscription via genuine micropod or other approved pass-thru device, don’t even bother obtaining that PIN.
- Despite what anyone says about when it expires, it’s “kind of” true. When you go to the screen on wiTECH that prompts for the PIN, it does say “PIN is valid for 12 hours, a new PIN must be obtained for use each day”. BUT, I’ve obtained my PIN, and it was valid for all three days of my wiTECH subscription. So, once the PIN is requested, it will remain the same UNTIL IT’S REQUESTED AGAIN. Then it will be different.

Aftermarket fob programmers will pull a 5 digit static PIN using the “key off, hazard lights on method”. That means you don’t need a valid fob present to program a new fob. I use the Topdon T Ninja 1000 to program fobs for the 5th gens, and the PIN that it pulls will work with AlfaOBD to reset the RF Hub, but not program the fob, so it seems like AlfaOBD is getting close to being capable.

Okay everyone has me paranoid now, so I'm trying to decide what the most logical choice is. I'd rather not have to carry extra fobs or crap in my pocket but I can if I don't have an option.

There are no installers in my state from what I can find online. so what's the best system I can install myself or get from the Mopar dealer ? I live in a very low risk area so I don't need the very best , but I'll be traveling some so it's a concern .

This is a cheaper method, and to me, it blocks 99% of stolen trucks.
The cloning method works for every car basically, I think the case here in TRX is using a laptop & generate a new key.

Do you get that done at the dealer then ?

Most of the scum bags where I go aren't going to be the best and brightest. I'd just like something extra in case.

Who did you talk to in service?

My advisor is Hunter. And sometimes Kevin.

Honestly outside of those two it doesn’t seem like the other advisors have much of a clue.
Called Hunter and he said it's only for charger and challengers

dropped off mine at dealership today and they said the lockout is not available for RAM yet.

Just FYI.

Local dealer (Prosper Ram) said the RFH module lock out is now available on the TRX to prevent new virtual keys from being made, just like the Charger and Challenger Hellcats.

Total cost including a 3rd key and shank programmed to vehicle is $385.

Anyone have input on how effective this would be versus getting a Ravelco?

It would stop virtual keys from being made from the passive entry signal from my understanding, which is how these are stolen anyways right?

Appreciate input.
Hi everyone, MY dealership seems to know nothing anout this! As in NOTHING about key cloning thefts, RFHM lock TSB, the entire issue. Wants to get the vehicle in, consult engineering, etc.
if this is available there should be a TSB and uf someone has that please please share! Ive got nothing. Thank you

TexasReX what is a cheaper method and blocks 99% % of stolen trucks? Sometimes its hard to follow and keep track from post to post. Thank you

I'm pretty sure that ANY car can be stolen by relaying the key fob signal (from your house for example, via the black box, to the vehicle).

But when it comes to programming a NEW key, I agree - something appears to be easily defeatable or bypassable with the FCA vehicles.

For what it's worth, I wonder if the $385 fee (for doing the TRX fix) is simply the cost of a 3rd key fob. Maybe the security fix is free.

One caveat I've heard on this fix: If you ever do need to program a new key (for any reason), it will be insanely expensive - because they will have to replace the computer.
Negative, ravelco and igla installed vehicles can’t be stolen by relaying the key fob signal. If you get ahold of the ravelco “key” shorting cap then yes you can relay the fob and steal it. Igla, not happening. The hub lock from the dealer will not stop it at all and if they hook to the vehicle to make a new fob, they usually delete the existing fobs first which it will let them do (told from multiple sources) but when they try to make another, its blocked. Now you would need a bunch of stuff replaced, pcm, bcm ect in order to get new fobs made. Thats not a small bill, was told it would be over $5,000 from a buddy that has the hub lock on his narrow body hellcat charger. Free is not always a good thing, its fca’s lame excuse to make it look like they care when in reality they want them stolen. There are several people on this forum doing exactly what fca wants, truck stolen and they post, “it was stolen and I just went and put in another order” then they make money off the components on the hub lock vehicles that need new fobs made ect. There are several other viable options that work.

No, read above

For what it’s worth, I wasn’t making a statement about security systems. I was talking about base vehicles…they are all prone to key fob coming, and Ram is no exception.

Alfaobd as with any other scanner that you plan on read/write with any sgw fca vehicle after 2018 needs a security bypass module so you can. You can then make new fobs ect. Haven’t tried it on a newer sgw model yet with my alfaobd but a good one that does is the autel im508 and then you can make your money back by programming 4 or 5 fobs for others 🤷‍♂️

Yes sir, they are doing it on all vehicle makes and models that use the “constant send/receive” like fca uses. My wife’s vehicle (new toyota/lexus lets you) has the ability to disable the fob so no signal is there and returns to normal after you press the lock or unlock button. No proximity works, no rf signal ect. Hold lock and press unlock twice. Fca unfortunately does not.

I dont think making easy to steal my truck, is the approach i would take; but i do have insurance.

Realize these are bad people and they don’t care about you, your family, or your property. You trigger the wrong thief who just used too much meth and he’s going to blow your Brains out before you can ever reach for your side arm.

Dude it’s just not worth it. Been there and done that. Just think hard about it. I’m not saying to advertise your property to be stolen, but I am telling you that your ravelco protected truck isn’t going to be worth much to you when some strung out dirtbag comes into your home with bad intentions.

In my case It was two skinny guys… and had I been able to get ahold of one it wouldn’t have been a problem to go to work, but they had a head start out the door. It’s for the best that I didn’t catch one because the surveillance footage later showed they were armed and it could have gone very badly.
Letting someone take your belongings with no opposition just tells them and others its ok to continue to do it and they will ramp it up. I don’t care what someone wants or their intentions, they get a single finger past the door threshold and lights out forever. If they are outside with a weapon and get stupid, again, lights out. You are more likely to be killed by someone in a home invasion for just being there when it happens.
