Hi. I just got my 2022 TRX used in August. It only come with one key. So I tried using alfaobd to program another key fob for spare . It failed I can't read the pin code. Would this be a sign my TRX have this RF hub locked ? How can I tell if the RF hub on my truck is locked?
If it is lock can this be unlock? Or you i really have to replace the rf hub .
I also can not change my vehicle configuration.. I can connect to the body computer and get in the configuration page but the change I made doesn't apply.
Above you mention in order to add new key if your key were all lost or damage with RF hub is on locked down you are not able to program new key.. the FCA install this feature from factory without letting vehicle owner know of this prior to purchase would be lame. Unless the previous owner have this done to the truck then decided to sale it. Either way if my trx have this RF hub locked then I screwed
Any advice for me ? Thank you
The only real way to tell is to go through with trying to program another fob.
Using AlfaOBD or Jscan to pull the PIN won’t be an indicator because they aren’t even capable of reading the PIN on the 5th gens right now.
As far as car configuration changes, sounds like you don’t have the security gateway bypassed?
the sale manager finally call me after like 2 week and say they were given only 1 key fob when they get the truck.. so I asked for pin code so I can program my own key that I paid 134$ on ebay.. he told hold as he walk to the parts department and then come back on the phone and say. The code is only good for 30 minute and that I won't have enough time to program the new fob... smell like BS,...
The PIN that the parts department pulls is 4 digit. As far as how long it’s good for, here is what I have discovered:
- The PIN you receive from the parts department (the only person authorized to obtain it) can only be used when programming a fob using the wiTECH 2 server. So, if you’re not going using wiTECH subscription via genuine micropod or other approved pass-thru device, don’t even bother obtaining that PIN.
- Despite what anyone says about when it expires, it’s “kind of” true. When you go to the screen on wiTECH that prompts for the PIN, it does say “PIN is valid for 12 hours, a new PIN must be obtained for use each day”. BUT, I’ve obtained my PIN, and it was valid for all three days of my wiTECH subscription. So, once the PIN is requested, it will remain the same UNTIL IT’S REQUESTED AGAIN. Then it will be different.
Aftermarket fob programmers will pull a 5 digit static PIN using the “key off, hazard lights on method”. That means you don’t need a valid fob present to program a new fob. I use the Topdon T Ninja 1000 to program fobs for the 5th gens, and the PIN that it pulls will work with AlfaOBD to reset the RF Hub, but not program the fob, so it seems like AlfaOBD is getting close to being capable.
