HOT! RB Performance Brakes is a Supporting Vendor of RAM-TRX.com!

The OE caliper wt just got updated - It's 26 lbs loaded with pads (wear is neglected) so there is a solid wt saving of 15 lbs per caliper which is very ssubstantial.

Our caliper pistons are made of stainless steel (machined from a bar stock) which has much lower heat conductivity than carbon steel (OE).
The fix piston caliper is more efficient and can provide instant pedal response (both inner & outer pads simultaneously) vs. OE floating piston which only acts on inner pad, while outer pads move only upon the bracket closure (there is a lagging).

Warren please check your email.

This looks like a solid solution. It’s a bummer that the 17” wheel didn’t work out but it’s better to have trustworthy brakes.

No, if you mean dual caliper setup.
This was a Rear BBK project for Mustang GT500 years ago but never materialized due to the involvement and too low of consumer interests (cost & installation).

Fitment test by a template and feeler gauge for the stock size brake kit on stock 18" wheel resulting a clearance of 3.08mm.

So say again, what is the clearance of this kit vs the clearance with stock calipers? Would you consider providing some stopping distance tests between the two?

It may be arranged when the kits are ready.

By reading all the posts I felt most members agreed and had the concern of "not quite sufficient" stock brakes, while having an "anxiety" of learning what they should do or the peer pressure from others already upgraded "I got to do something" but not quite sure what direction to take.

So I think an open discussion (No sales pitch) is beneficial to the forum members so you can have a better understanding on your brakes which can help you make a more sensible decision at your own path.

Rest be assured OE brakes must have provided basic requirement to stop your TRX, so no worries, no pressure, no anxiety.
That’s all I’m looking for but there’s so many to choose from. I live in Southern California and this summer I will be taking it up to Eastern Washington to be a farm truck. So I need brakes that can stop it when going 100+ and I need great brakes going down steep hills in gravel dirt & mud.
Plus I don’t want to spend a fortune for brakes. 🧎🏻‍♂️🙏🏽
Help & Thanks

@Warren-RB I just purchased a new-to-me TRX with 16k miles and am considering upgrading the front calipers with your solution. Reading through this thread, it's clear to me that the OE rotors I already have definitely fit. Will the OE pads that I already have also fit?

My current thought process is that my rotors and pads are pretty fresh, so I could just upgrade the calipers and then do the rotors/pads later down the line.

Does this seem like a sound idea to you? Specifically, I'm curious whether I'm going to notice a major improvement in pedal feel (my main gripe with the OE TRX brakes) if I retain the OE rotors/pads.

On my other car, I have AP Racing Radi-CAL calipers, and I really really like a firm brake pedal. It seems to me like the OE TRX brakes can stop the truck reasonably well, but the feeling isn't confidence inspiring.

Thank you!

This just went to the top of my want list. When do you expect full kits to begin shipping?

UPDATE:
More info are updated including detail weight table (below)

This RB front 4 piston caliper kit is worth considering - A well balanced upgrade in affordability, simplicity (install & maintain), performance improvement, and durability.

RB brakes offer these unique feature.
  • Transparency in design & pricing - You know what you get, and how much you can save (compared to others' offers).
  • A purchase direct from a mfgr w/o getting confused with deceiving info through dealerships.
  • Performance & durability against other advertised brands with a money back guarantee.

Yes that sounds a good plan to replace just the stock calipers first so you can preserve the stock rotors and witness what you are looking for an "instant feedback with a firm pedal". You can order the calipers by selecting the calipers only option.

We offer the same OE calipers (Brembo) replcement for some of the discremenating & demanding track/SUV vehicles link Mustang GT350, GT500, Porsche 911, Jeep Trackhwak, McLaren (AP) 570/720, Telsa S Plaid etc. just to name a few.

I'm pooling together a bulk order to try and get the best discount. I should already have 3 kits lined up. I just need two more to hit the maximum bulking-savings discount. If there is anyone in the Pittsburgh, PA area that is interested in this BBK, please reach out via private messaging.
This is what we think will work for the volume order.

The GB organizer shall:
  1. Start a thread/discussion stating a specific qty/discount.
  2. Add the buyer to the list.
  3. When the number of buyers is reached, the activity will be closed.
  4. Committed buyers to sign up an account to RB website (No purchase yet until you receive a discount coupon reflecting the discount).
  5. A discount coupon will be sent to those buyers
  6. ALL buyers must place their orders (at discounted price) within 72 hours.
  7. After the committed orders/payments are received with the number of buyers verified, the order will be fulfilled and shipped individually to the buyers.
Note the shipping is calculated by our ordering system automatically; based on the contents weight, shipping method, and "ship to" address, so it's irrelevant to where you are located. eg if you select "store pickup" there will be no shipping charge.

Note:
To avoid confusion, NO same GB activity can be run until the ongoing one is closed.

Let me know if you have any question or suggestion.

Wonder about RB 4 pot caliper durability?
Learn this most recent feedback from Chris S. who installed this 380mm BBK on his Tesla M3 since 2019:

He wants to buy the new units but we advised him he only needs to rebuild them, and after rebuilt the calipers will perform just like brand new calipers for another 100,000 miles. To save money and he can continue logging the longevity of those calipers.

Is there an added level of brake noise that can be expected going from the OEM brake setup to the complete RB kit (front calipers, front and rear two piece rotors, pads)?
