Ravelco vs. IGLA

I messaged the guy I was talking to when I was trying to get a shop here certified to install and he said the Connect App only works with the GSM system. If you don't mind sending me the other document though I would be interested in it. He said the "service/valet" mode time can be changed but hasn't told me how to do it yet. Mine isn't turning off after driving atleast 10 minutes over the speed it says, but would also be interested in the other options that could be turned on through it.
Turns out it was a link….see below, but agree it sounds like maybe some of the features aren’t available for the US?

Check the “table of features” section

Okay, so I tried the folding mirrors option and that did not work unfortunately. Hopefully that comes with the update next year.

A couple questions for the IGLA experts here:

1. What are you all doing when you go to valet your truck at a nice restaurant or hotel? I don't want to give them a fob nor my password obviously.

2. Is there any way for us to verify that key cloning/OBD port access is blocked? That's what they advertise, and that's what my installer told me, but obviously some features are in the IGLA documentation that do not work for our trucks, so makes me paranoid about one of the key features which is blocking of OBD key cloning.

I asked an installer that same question today:

When you drop off your truck give them your ram fob with the truck running, take your IGLA fob with you. When you are ready to pick up, give them the IGLA fob with your valet ticket. Seems like the best option unless they turn off your ignition on the valet drive....

Not all features are supported on every vehicle. Comfort and mirror are not mopar supported.

You just put it into service mode when you drop it off. It will deactivate when driven over 31mph for 1 second and then driven for 3 minutes or you enter the pin. If it is stolen while at a service place, it will then shutoff and not restart once its turned off but unless you have the gps still active or a separate gps with battery backup, it will be gone. You could also activate anti carjacking but it will activate if the door is left open for more than 3 seconds and then they can’t service it without entering the pin. I tell people to enter it into service mode, anti carjacking off and only leave it somewhere with insurance that will give to you in writing they will pay market value with whatever accessories installed if stolen (it is their responsibility to keep it safe)

Ahhhh, yes I actually like that method......but could also go for the service method @IGLA Installer KY is suggesting since I wouldn't expect a valet place to drive it over 31mph.....and I would warn them if they do the engine is going to cut off.

On jeep/dodge obd block doesnt work from what I heard, key clone/relay is blocked and the ability to hook to the obd or gateway to make a key is blocked unless you put it into service mode. Not even a dealer can make a key with igla installed

I personally would get some sort of gps with battery backip whether its compustar drone or another gps device that can be hidden with battery backup

Glad to hear that.....so but the only way to test it's working would be to ask a dealership to try and make me another key while the IGLA is armed?

I have multiple Apple Air Tags currently that have been working for me. But, supposedly IGLA/Author is coming out with their "Compass" upgrade next year that has shock/tilt & GPS capabilities. Likely will get that installed if/when it comes out.

Igla is on all the time unless in service mode or transport mode. If I get a chance tomorrow at the shop I will hook to my SRT Jeep up and try and make a key fob. Then enter service mode and try again

Actually yea that would be cool if you could test that out.....and even better if you made a video and posted that? Just very curious to see how we would confirm the key cloning is blocked. Thanks for taking the time to discuss all this btw, very helpful!

I will try it tomorrow. My scanner/programmer is kinda new to me and says mopar is supported but haven’t had the chance to try it on one. I have done a few American vehicles and worked great. I just had surgery last week so been laid up (they decided to wait 9 days to fix a broken bone in my left foot that was in half🤦‍♂️) fun times 😂😂

Dayummmmm, that looks like it had to hurt! Hope you have a speedy recovery.

It actually doesn’t, walked 13 hours on it before going to the ER, then over a week like that. There isn’t much pain, just really annoying. I have to have surgery on my right knee right after this heals enough. I am probably going to be down for awhile

Does an installer have to change the time setting. I have used mine and it does not lock out after 31mph for 3 minutes. I was told that it can be set to 10 minutes also and I haven't tested that but was probably close after last time driving home from the dealership.

I haven't valet my truck yet but have tried a few different ways while having ceramic coating, tint, and an oil change. With tint and oil change I stayed at the location so I knew what was going on. Tint I just left a FOB in the truck so it would start like normal since I was there and it wasn't leaving the parking lot, for Oil Change I put it in service mode and it worked for them to get it serviced but I left it in service mode to drive home and see if it would lock me out and it never did. The other time was for ceramic coating and I put the FOB on with my keys and just made a joke when handing him my keys about not using my "GYM" fob to go work out so he wouldn't know the IGLA was on there. Obviously he had the key and fob so he could have done anything he wanted with my truck but I just checked in on it frequently through the AirTag I have in it.

My understanding is it doesn’t shut the truck down after the 31mph for 3mins, it just takes it out of service mode, meaning the next time you shut it off, the system is armed again and won’t start without a fob or the code. Pretty sure only the anti-carjack setting will kill the engine. I’m still debating whether I want to do that only because I could see myself with my truck ok and the driver door open for more than 3 seconds….I guess unless I trained myself to never do that.

That is what I meant, I don't know why I said shut it down. But after driving home, and turning it off it let me start it right back up with out entering the code. I hope its just a time setting issue that can be changed easily since I got mine installed about 3 hours from where I live and hate to drive all the way down there just to have that one setting changed. Maybe just have to wait until the GSM stuff hits and see what it would cost to add it.

I’m going to test the service mode sometime this weekend and will let you know what I find. @IGLA Installer KY may have an opinion on your situation…..
