Does anyone know how to decipher the VIN? What does the character after FU9 and before MN designate?

IN TRAILERS IT IS A NUMBER FROM 0 TO 9 AND ALWAYS 0-2-4-6-8-1-3-5-7-9 SO THE VIN WON'T BE DUPLICATED.

@KnightMare @tripleB Not sure who updates/tracks the info but just received word from my dealer that I am in D1! Not sure when he found out as I had to contact him to ask (so frustrating lack of proactive communication from the dealership), but progress! He did not give me a build date/week though, so not sure about that right now.

Just noticed a typo in the registry just to keep the overall data accurate. I ordered mine on 8/19 not 9/19, I think that was my bad. Last update from dealer was truck was in NM heading to AZ on Jan 25th. Should be any day now! Thanks again for the tracking!

This Vin thing of late is really confusing.
90---- I thought were the first production trucks for the public. Mine is 904777
I thought all the preproduction press mules were the 50----.
Now I see these 68---- numbers turning up.
I noticed today New member MarkHawkins has a 50---- number.

What does the 68 mean compared to the 90s? How did a 50 series build get to be a model for sale to the public.
Always something new.

My original dealer finally got a vin on the order I had canceled when I got a vin from a different dealer earlier this month.
The original order was given 4731 which yesterday had me scratching my head since I it was issued nearly a month after I received my 904777. Then this morning I spotted in the registry someone on here already has 4731 different state and different color. So now I am thinking I should have asked for the whole VIN yesterday I am betting it was a 684731 . This is going to make using the last 4 in the registry a bit of a problem. Lol

I am really perplexed at the jump from 4 digits to 6. I am certain FCA has some meaning behind it but we may never know.

Well let’s just think about who is making all of the crazy decisions with our trucks “FCA”. I can’t make any sense about most of this experience with Ram...... ?????? But I have absolutely no clue on your question. Cheers

This is just purely a guess, the change in VIN numbers likely doesn't mean anything to us but is some internal change. The new VINs happened to start showing up right after the transition from FCA to Stellantis so my guess is after they moved the computer systems over the VIN assignment changed. Possibly just as an easy indicator internally as to which system the VIN originated in? Again, complete guess with nothing to back it up other than the timeframe it coincided with.

I'm "at the ramp"!!!!! So I asked what that means..... I'm at the Alliance train station in Dallas (not far from my house) and will be unloaded (supposedly) in the coming days. Then off to Abilene on a truck (very far from my house) to be cleaned up and made ready. I'm guessing the 10th will be my day to take delivery. Wahoo!
