Power Running Boards

Has anybody had the mopar step only go in and out half way? then when driving at stop lights goes in and out? Turned of the truck and it went back to normal. happens randomly. Will tell the dealer as i have only had it for 1 day checking the real knowledgeable crew

Just shot you a message. Did you ever resolve the issue? My dealership cannot figure it out

You probably have a bad control module or motor.

Do these do a good job from protecting from rock chips when deployed while driving? Or do they fold down too low compared to the factory installed steps to help much?

Is Anyone going to wait for the RBP running boards? I called the company a few months ago, and a guy told me they were not going to produce TRX running boards until at least December? I’d be fine with Mopar, but I don’t have any personal experience with them and quality.

They offer no protection when they are folded down, might as well be running naked especially with the protruding fenders on the TRX. I had them on my '19 longhorn. If I put anything on it will be mudflaps just in the front and I'm debating the OEM off-road boards. I like the look without anything but my shorter wife and daughter will probably tell me different.

This is exactly was I was debating of replacing the OEM off-road boards with power boards. I love them on my Longhorn but for the TRX I probably will stay with the OEMs.

You and I are thinking the same. I loved them on my old truck. I think they look slick and are really convenient but if you do decide on them and plan to do anything off the streets, you'll probably want to get some Rokbloz flaps at least in the front to protect your rocker panels.

Even if you can get the power boards set to extend while your driving, I think they will be too low on this rig to offer any protection from anything flying up from the 35's.

Completely agree with you

Thanks for the reply not what I was hoping to hear. As much as I like the power steps I will probably go with the factory installed steps to help with rock chips. On my Raptor the steps have helped drastically with chips and I despise mud flaps.

If they are able to stay down from the pics I’ve seen it looks like it would offer protection to the rear door rockers but not much on the driver door rockers. I still haven’t gotten any confirmation if they can stay deployed while driving though.

So, with the factory power running boards I had on my '19, I was able to keep them deployed like in that picture when I was in park. It was great when I was trying to protect against door dings. The problem is that when I had them deployed and putting the truck in gear, after a certain mph got reached (like 5 or 6 mphs) they would then retract to the stored position. I know guys with alphaobd have been trying to find a way too keep them retracted through configurable options but I have also seen no confirmation if someone figured it out. An option may be to cross wires or something to trick the system into thinking extended boards are in the stored position, but that is beyond my expertise :)

As a new member waiting for his built-but-maybe-shipped-maybe-not TRX to arrive, do any power running board owners have toddlers?

I love the look and functionality but worry about my 3 year-old getting his hands trapped in there. Thanks!

I purchased the power steps to help my grandkids get in and out. We have had no problems with hands etc. We have had the amp steps since 2014.

The Mopar steps are fairly sensitive to obstructions - it takes very little pressure on them before they reverse themselves.

<runs out to truck to try and get it to crush my hand/arm>

OK. They won't crush a 1 liter soda bottle with the cap on it - they sense the obstruction and reverse. They will crush it with the cap off. They're also slow enough that you would have to consciously hold your hand/arm in there while they're closing - takes about 2 seconds to fully retract.

But I'll be honest - I didn't have the guts to stick my arm in there to feel just how hard it would squeeze.
