I installed the Mopar retractable running boards. My guy that is a technician at a dodge dealership just used my vin and ordered the. They work wonderful

Put mine on over the weekend. After the initial bad diagram/instructions on the wiring it went relatively smoothly and worked when I was done. Love them

Awesome
Thank You

Fun day. I ordered the Ram power boards Monday and had 8:30am appointment at dealer today to install. They said 3 hours. It’s now 2:30pm and I get a call from dealer. He said Techs looked at steps and need 6 hours to install and need some wiring kit so it cannot be done today.

I tried to contain myself but let him know they are wrong. The parts guy ordered the same part as you guys but it ended in “AE” instead of AD. It was the same list price so it must just be a newer version.

I think I need a new dealer. How could it take 6 hours and what wiring kit could they be missing? What a waste of my time!

Jeeze, I’ve been 3 hours waiting to get the control buttons done on Uconnect (steps are already installed by the same dealer) and the Master Tech said it can’t be done for add ons with the TRX. I showed him instructions, videos, pictures and he’s still clueless.

Can someone tell me of a Houston/Central Texas dealership that knows WTF they are doing.

I bought my truck from Texan in Houston and was impressed with them but have not had service there. I live in Tampa area

Can anyone who had power steps installed at Dealer tell me how many hours were on the bill?

Hey...correct....Frisco. I actually ordered from Bluebonnet down in New Braunfels and they installed during my 4 hr trip I drove down to p/u. Was going to flatbed it here but decided to trade in my Denali. Dear law school friend bought the Hellcat at Grapevine Dodge and said that's the only place he'd let touch his car.....true gearhead. So I'll be going there next week to have them flash the UCONN for them to show up on the screen. I got them installed at the dealer as then they'd come under the truck warranty so keep that in mind. As for the PPF...just picked it up yesterday w/ full PPF....ceramic and ceramic tint. I've used XPEL in Dallas off of Lemon by the BMW dealership for both my 2019 Z06 and 2020 M5 Competition......they're good.
Love the look!! Does it fit in your garage? Top clearance wise?

I am going in tomorrow to have them installed. The part says 2-3 hours of labor. I am quoted 3 hours @ $139/hour. Which seems accurate. I can confirm tomorrow once done. Soulsea shared his invoice which had about 3 hours as well. Check it out here:

Yea, bought mine at AutoNation and had good sales experience but service hasn’t been spectacular. I live near College Station so I will drive.

I installed mine in about 2 hours. Easy install if the instructions didn't look like it was intentionally made to confuse people

I was gonna install them myself but dealer still wanted 1 hours labor to reflash/set up in uconnect. so figure I would only save myself 2 hours of labor at best. With them doing it, any issues and they have to fix it.

I found it in a good price here for $1,281.00. And said that IT FITS our trucks!!

I was going to post this in a separate thread, but decided to post it here...

I can verify without qualification that the Mopar power steps will work on the TRX, and perfectly. They look and function without a hitch. However, they offer zero protection to small and medium sized rocks coming off the front tires.

On my first road trip, I drove from Denver to property that I have near Fairplay, Colorado. As part of the journey, I had to traverse about 10 miles of a dirt road. It's graded and in pretty good shape. Because I was planning on adding PPF to the black paint on the bottom of the truck, I took it easy - driving 25 MPH max. In the Raptor, I drove this road from 50-70 MPH.

When I got home, there was an obvious chip in the paint, near the driver's side plastic fender flare, well beyond the paint. Upon closer examination, there was this chip, and a few others not so significant, and the plastic fender flares were beat up as well.

A few weeks later, I drove to Moab, Utah. On this trip, there was some dirt road, but again, I took it easy. This trip added even more damage to the rear fender flares and surrounding areas. Did all the damage come from the dirt roads? I'm not sure, but I don't think so. I think that the majority of damage came from rocks coming off the front tires on dirt roads, as well as the pavement - maybe 20 miles on dirt roads, versus 1,300 on the highway?

Because of this, I removed the power steps, even though they are great, and replaced them with the Mopar steps that came with the truck from the factory. Hopefully, this will stop the damage. Having my truck already rock chipped is a bit depressing, if I'm honest. I'll know more next week, as I'm headed to Moab again.

I echo this exact post. I have chips in the black paint from dirt road. I was roosting somewhat but not full romp.

Well, 5 hours and 4-5 starts and after “Skippy” the “Master Tech” told me that Uconnect told him the “deploy/retract” function for the power steps “will not work” since the steps were not put on at the factory and it was “impossible” to make them work through Uconnect, the buttons appeared in the control panel and work perfectly. Skippy was absolutely sure they would NOT work. He insisted the “Uconnect people” said so even after I showed him a video of the Uconnect controlling the steps in a TRX.

Now I’m just laughing to myself about that “cock sure” little dweeb. He fixed them and didn’t even realize it and was too cocky to simply say “man, I just don’t know”.

oh well, all’s well that ends well.

If you off road frequent then you should XPEL it with ultimate Plus 10 but for the best protection, you could try this:

Its like line-x on the bottom half but film. You lose the gloss black but you wont get any rock chips. Ultimate plus 10 is also really thick and would be good along the bottom half.

Go see Morgan at Tomball.

My steps worked out of the box automatically with door opening and closing. Haven't added them in Uconnect yet but had them added onto my vin. Just haven't been flashed yet. Not concerned with controlling them by button, all I care about is with the doors.

Does anyone have copy of install instructions they can post so I can see how difficult before ordering.

I threw mine out. It's not a bad job but the instructions don't help in a couple of spots. A member wrote up a set of helpful suggestions. Do a search.
