Power Running Boards

Does anyone know of the Mopar power boards will work for the 22's since we are getting the updated Uconnect 5?
Don't see why they wouldn't. The Mopar Power Steps will be offered on MY22 RAMs. The MY22 RAMs will have Uconnect5. All is good in the world!

As a new member waiting for his built-but-maybe-shipped-maybe-not TRX to arrive, do any power running board owners have toddlers?

I love the look and functionality but worry about my 3 year-old getting his hands trapped in there. Thanks!

my 22 should start build soon and the dealer has the steps and will be installing. I hope there are no issues with using on a 22.

You should be totally fine.

The Mopar steps are fairly sensitive to obstructions - it takes very little pressure on them before they reverse themselves.

<runs out to truck to try and get it to crush my hand/arm>

OK. They won't crush a 1 liter soda bottle with the cap on it - they sense the obstruction and reverse. They will crush it with the cap off. They're also slow enough that you would have to consciously hold your hand/arm in there while they're closing - takes about 2 seconds to fully retract.

But I'll be honest - I didn't have the guts to stick my arm in there to feel just how hard it would squeeze.

I had something on side when they retracted. No pressure at all and they kicked back out. I have the Mopar ones but I don't think there's much difference except for lights with AMP. I have Level 2 so I have lights under mirrors on the sides and didn't need them.

I have no idea what to expect of my 3 year old. He might try and rip them off. I'm just trying to be proactive on this.

Mine was scared of it until I made him get used to it coming down then learn to climb in the truck

I purchased AMP running boards. They are nice. They would be easy to install if the directions were any good. Hey, I’m not a mechanic, but I do know how to read. I would say, maybe the worst set of directions I’ve ever seen with the exception of IKEA.
I bought them from JustBoltOn.
If you want some photos, here they are.
The very first step says that in TRX models you don’t have to do it. (Take a bracket off) uh, you actually do.
AMP should supply photos for their directions. They should also ask any of their customers for installation feedback. Beside the horrible installation experience, they do perform nicely.

I have both RAM and AMP running boards on my trucks. The Mopar are slow, the Amp are fast to deploy and if you choose there is a light kit. I bought a second AMP set for my 22 when it gets here. Yeah, the instructions are a bit lackluster but I don't recall having much of a problem with them. I was done in an hour. I had to recall my truck from the service department because they sat on my truck for a few days and didn't get them installed. They estimated about 3 hours to install and couldn't spare the labor being aftermarket and all. So did it myself and like I say don't recall having too much issue. Maybe one bolt that was difficult to get to, all else went smooth.

I think I will purchase the Amp steps for my 22 TRX, I like to get in quickly. I would prefer the xtreme twin motor but they appear to be less low-profle when retracted then the base model. Any photos or experience of Amp installs on member TRX's?

I have Amp boards on my company truck and the Mopar boards on the new TRX. They both work great, I like the Mopar boards better for cleaning. They don't have the rough surface that tears up the wash mitt. I also prefer the boards to not retract so quick. It allows me to shut one door and open another without them going up and down.

Dealer quoted me $2500 for mopar steps installed. I guess I'll email around to other dealers and see if anyone will get it under $2k. Other than that, I'll order the Amp XL or extreme and spend a day cussing kicking and bitching while I install them myself.

So I ordered the Mopar steps from my local dealer instead of the Amps. We have a resale account as I am an independent repair shop so I got them discounted for exactly $1500. Not the normal discount off retail prices but the parts guy explained that they dont have the margins on accessories so my discount is minimal. I think the retail price was like $1620?? We will install at my shop once my truck arrives.

That discount ain’t bad. I know some guys at the dealer and got the parts managers discount and after tax was around 1500$

TLDR for the 10 pages of comments. Having come from a GEN2 Raptor and putting 37's on, and seeing someone sound off an alarm for these steps in terms of the suspension getting in the way, I think it's worth noting that fitting vs fitting while offroading (crawling/high speeds) are two different things that should be considered and tested. Many GEN2 Raptor owners til this day throw 37s on, don't change a thing, and claim they fit; Which will rip your fenders right off if you do anything other than mall crawling.

So, in short, for the TRX community, if anyone tests these to validate that they fit, please validate whether or not they will get in the way in any condition (street ride vs full articulation.)

Dealer was giving me a 10% discount since I bought the truck there, so $1460ish. Then wanted 6 hours labor + cpu flash for a total of $900. Hell. Maybe I should buy them there, install them myself, then find a dealer to just do the flash.

Or just buy a Tazer, and turn on the feature (and many others) yourself.

I don't think taser can add it to the uconnect.
It was added a few updates ago. I used the Tazer for this and it works great. Get the buttons on UC and the animations on the cluster just like factory.
