Power Running Boards

Go see Morgan at Tomball.

My steps worked out of the box automatically with door opening and closing. Haven't added them in Uconnect yet but had them added onto my vin. Just haven't been flashed yet. Not concerned with controlling them by button, all I care about is with the doors.
Yea, I was in the same boat. Mine worked, I just didn’t have the Uconnect control. They didn’t flash it when the installed them (which kinda irritated me to begin with. That and they had my truck for 12 hours) That was about a month ago and had to go back to get my plates so I decided to get them “flashed” this time just because I want them to work they way they’re supposed to.

I keep forgetting about Tomball. It’s actually closer to me now that 249 is open damn near to College Station. Thanks for the rec.

Just so this is known about the AMP steps they can be turned off and on. My TRX will be here the 17th of May. Have a 2020 Denali 2500 oil burner with the AMP HD 2 motor steps. I drive to the ranch in SE NM quite a bit 46k on the truck and the environment is very hostile with fine dirt and ugly. I had a small low profile switch installed under the steering column. Just a simple break in the ground so they do not try and come down when the truck it is in a spot where they should not come down.

Mine had the Mopar rail step already ordered so it will be on it, may do either one still need to research the Mopar power steps to see how tough they are.

That’s a good deal! My local dealer quoted $1700 plus 5 hours labor @$160 an hour 🙄
My Dealer did it for 3 hours labor. They struggled a while with loading to the UConnect. It seems the directions are not clear enough about the power cycles needed for it to take. I believe that is why some people on here had it work after leaving the dealership. I asked them to go back and do more power cycles and it finally took.

Is the coding part to the u-connect possible without the steps being installed? I’m having the dealer do an oil change and picking up my steps tomorrow at there parts dept. Would be nice if they can code them to truck at the same time they do the oil change. Will install the steps myself at a later time.

I did just that today, have them code the steps while doing an oil change but I installed the steps first.

Crazy how the oil change was cheaper than them typing on a keyboard to add the steps. Oil change was $75 and steps was like $140. SMH

Dealer wanted $165 to code the steps. Said it was a very involved process lol. I’ll get it done later. Will be nice to leave them down in a parking lot space to avoid idiots opening the doors and hitting my truck!

Took me 2 hours total to install my steps using Butta’s YouTube directions. I’m guessing a good tech can get it done in an hour.

I just had mine done and it was $140 SMH

Couldn't you add them yourself with something like AlfaOBD? Or is that not a thing anymore on RAM's these days?

I got a dirt cheap Android tablet with the app a few years ago because of it. Just kept it in the truck. Could do a lot of fun (and illegal) stuff on my 4th gen, lol!

I don't think they need to flash, after the install I didnt see any of the options under setup to control the boards. Called dealer and my sales guy added the dealer install option to my truck in the system, which also puts them under warranty BTW. Without going to the dealer, the options showed up magically in 12 hours.

Oh that's pretty cool! I thought they didn't show up for some people after a 'flash' because there's no room left for an extra button in the controls menu on most TRX'es.

But honestly, it's just great that they work plug & play. I guess no one's ever really going to need to deploy them from inside the truck without opening a door, lol!

The menu changes when they show up and shifts the location of your other buttons

Yessssir, I'm subscribed to your channel lol so the video popped up as soon as I turned on the TV.
I just thought that might've been it because it didn't pop up for some people, and for this other guy it popped up without a flash. Also wondered if you could add it yourself with AlfaOBD instead of paying the 140, which is kinda ridiculous for adding a sales code.

Thanks for the sub!

I wonder if anyone who has access to dealer connect that can just add it. I figured it was just a OTA update but they probably flash the vehicle so the change is immediate

After the power steps are installed and sales code is added, what do I have to do to UConnect? I am struggling with my new steps today.

It shows up once the sales code is tied to your vin but can take 24 hours after the sales code is entered. My icons in Uconnect didn't show up till the next day.
