Passive entry added to REAR doors?? *EDIT* - ACCOMPLISHED AND WORKS PERFECTLY!!!

So admittedly, I’m responding to this while running around this morning, so someone needs to fact check me, but I’m pretty sure it’s supposed to be the green with purple stripe wire… I think you have the wrong wire there.
Yeah that dark green wire is the wrong one. I made the same mistake. It needs to be the light colored green wire with the stripe.

Yep. 100%. Sorry I missed your reply. I posted a few posts above I just need to run more wire. At the moment I’m too lazy but now the weather has cooled down I may look into it.
Agree, it’s mod weather, finally… but then it’s also fall sports season… looks like I’ll be modding in the dark 😭

Sorry I thought the picture was attached.
My black wire goes to the green wire with white stripe, and red wire goes to the green wire with yellow stripe. Is that how you had them? Hard to tell in the pic but it appears you may have the correct wires unless they were flipped? I posted some close up pics on page 4, see if you can compare to those to make sure you got the right wires?

Yes I followed the wire colors Jimmy provided on the harness he made. I also PMed him with the picture and he said those look to be the correct wires.

So no one has had this issue with their 2022? Im waiting for a part for my Windows laptop so I can use AlfaOBD (we are a Linux house :ROFLMAO: ). Im not sure what else I can try or if I can even add this to my TRX.

Well I am kicking myself right now as I write this but I fixed it.

Long story short double check your connectors are seated fully in the pillar even if the window works :ROFLMAO:

I was just double checking I didn't mixed the wires for 1/7 up in the connector and as I pulled out the connector it became unplugged. Pulled it back in again and passive entry is now working. I also wired the rear driver door and its also working

Hi everyone! I did this on my 2018 Charger and it works but with a slight caveat; if I drive the car for less than 5 minutes, keyless entry does not work on any of the doors when I exit the vehicle. After 5 minutes have passed from the time I started driving, it works fine, which makes me think it's an issue with the voltage and the computer has to reset itself. Did any of you encounter this issue and do you know how to fix it? My setup is the same as @jdduck1212 did in his video, door handle swap and tapped into the front wires. That is all I did, no changes to the BCM or fuses or anything else. I do have AlfaOBD and DiagFCA. If you have any ideas please let me know. Thanks!

I have noticed since I added rear passive entry I have to hit double tap the handle to lock the doors

In the back? I think it's because there aren't any rf receivers in the rear so it's more sensitive to being in range of the front sensor when you use the backdoor

No issues with mine whatsoever.

Sounds like you have an issue. I don’t drive the TRX much so I can’t say for sure at the moment but I’ll check in two days when I return home from a trip and let you know.

On a charger or a different vehicle?
Oh man. I’m so sorry. I somehow missed the 2018 Charger part of your reply and assumed it was a TRX.

I can only say I’ve had no issues on my TRX and since you were asking on a TRX forum I assumed that’s what you wanted to know about.

My turn for troubleshooting help. I got everything installed but the rear handles do not work. Front function normally. I double checked all part numbers. I swapped the end cap with the one on the front passenger door and no change (front continues to work and rear does not). I tried to swap the tap wires without success thinking maybe they were miss-labeled. I checked the pins in the door jam harness and all look good. I double checked the plug into the handle and that is secure. I am confused because both doors don't work. I can't imagine I am batting .000 here.

I just checked and I have continuity on the blue and gray wires from the handle side plug to the tap end of the wire. So that eliminates the door jamb harness connection. I guess that leaves:
  • the possibility I got 2 broken handles from the factory (I guess I will swap the full handle from front pass door)
  • Tapped the wrong wires
  • Bad tap job (but I removed and reinstalled)
Any other ideas?

Sorry I'm just now responding to this.

Honestly it sounds like you're checking all the boxes and going through a pretty methodical checklist... I don't know what else it could be. Your pictures of your wires appear to be the correct colors. Are you sure you grabbed the right pin slots in the door jamb harness? I remember those being really tiny and hard to make out to get the correct ones.

What year is your truck? Any chance it's a 23 or 24? I know they refreshed the cluster and all that... maybe they changed some wires too? Grasping at straws there...

If it’s a 2023 it follows the same wiring as previous year trucks. I can’t speak to 2024 though.

To @WVU_Eric, I also recommend double checking your wiring harness pin locations. More than likely that is the issue if everything else works. Your pin colors seem to be correct.

Thanks guys. Its a 22. I thought I was careful on the pin locations. Even took a photo of the connector so I could read the numbers. Just ran out and checked both sides. 1 and 7 are in there correctly. I'm going on vacation tomorrow so I'll try to forget about it for a week and start fresh when I get home.

I have the memory that on the drivers side for one wire color was more then one wire in the harness, but I'M not 100% sure, might want to go through the wires in the harness again.
Actually that's a good point now that you say that- I remember there being others incredibly similar. I.E. be careful distinguishing between a green wire WITH a white stripe versus a white wire WITH a green stripe. One of the stripes is ever so slightly bigger and I feel like I remember finding one that fit both criteria, it's possible the wrong one was grabbed which would be incredibly easy to do.
