Official Driveline Clunk Service Repair

I have owned three TRX's, none have had the drive line clunk. Over many years, I and others, have had cars/trucks of various makes and models that felt like a slip in the drive train just after first movement from a stop. We could never figure out what it was and it never did cause a problem. Now I know what it was, just like all the descriptions on this form. So this is not a new issue, it has been around for years.

That would make sense when coupled with your cold climate. The problem accelerates in warm climates. For those living in colder areas I have seen as high as 20k miles before the issue really shows up.

Got my truck in January of this year. As members have said, did not notice until it was warmer outside. To be honest if I didn't know about it I may have never noticed. Its just the slightest thud if anything and does not happen every time but once made aware you look for it now.

Very possible that the new trans combined with whatever torque management settings are setup within the TCM could fix the issues. Just fully disengage the output shaft sooner under decel.

only like 220...but i bought truck in late march, clunk was there. TSB repair in may at 90 degrees, clunk was there.

I just got the reply from East Coast Driveline. They contacted some customers that have reached 5000 miles in both the Carbon fiber and Aluminum. Here is the Quote.
"He said that his customers have currently done about 5k miles with both and the shafts are holding up nicely. No issues with vibration and no noise coming out of our new style slip sleeve."
This looks like a worthwhile option.

"He said that his customers have currently done about 5k miles with both and the shafts are holding up nicely. No issues with vibration and no noise coming out of our new style slip sleeve."
This looks like a worthwhile option.

If they find customers who cruise past 30k with no clunk I will definitely grab one from them or ripatuned. 5k seems too low to judge but it gives me hope.

Not sure if " no noise coming out of our new style slip sleeve" covers the clunk/bump situation I have. I don't hear any noise, just feel the bump. Like rao26 says I think I would wait for some longer term testing. I am glad to see this getting some after market attention though.

Clunk is back, had tsb grease install back in mid July, made it about a month and has returned!!!

Ive had mine in 3 times at 3 different dealers. Similar shit different place. However, I have not gotten or qualified to my knowledge for the actual parts replacement. Guess I need to press the issue and no more Mr nice guy. I have 11,000 on her now and first noticed about 5,000ish. As a boat Captain I do notice any vibration or clunk intensely. So yes it bugs me.........

I hear ya but there's no parts they could replace to permanently fix it anyway. Even the latest driveshaft suffers from the same problem, so replacing it would be no better than greasing the one you have. But it would cost Ram some extra money to do it, so by all means give them shit!

Even worse is that the drive line is on back order with no real ETA. So you end up waiting three+ months for the unit and then you get 3k miles before the return of the clunk.
