New England (NH, VT, MA, RI, CT, ME)

I never could deal with them All they ever wanted to sell me by payment.

Well, I’m one of those referrals that ordered a TRX from them. And as of last week I was the only one that moved to D1. Since I put my order in June, if they force me to take the add-ons, I’ll probably have to take them but will fight as much as I can as I’m not willing to wait another 8 months. And if they lowball me on my trade-in and reneg on the price protection, I’ll probably walk, which I hope is not the case. I’m thinking that I may not even mention a trade at this point. But anyways I did get a nice pick of your supposed truck and can confirm it did not have ceramic coat…lol

Damn. No intention of buying here but these kinds of tactics pisses me off so much. You’re truck is worth way more than 76k at this current market. They were trying to make money on all ends of the deal, screwing you over in every aspect. I would flame this dealer all over the internet and never buy another vehicle again, even if they had the exact one I wanted in the future.

One thing I’ve learned over the years is that I’m not afraid to search the country for a vehicle because I know that someone is always going to give a better price. I almost never will buy a vehicle in the northeast because the volume of sales is crap compared to places like the mid Atlantic, so the dealers here tend to play fuck fuck games 95% of the time.

My dad needed a new vehicle recently and wanted a Honda CRV. I looked all over the east coast but some states wouldn’t even sell to an out of state buyer because of the demand in their states, so ultimately I was forced to deal with a local dealer here in Maine. I ended up finding one at the Honda dealer in Portland and I knew I was going to pay a markup, which I was fine with since my dad needed the vehicle. The part that got me was that during the paperwork the dealer tacked on the “oh and here’s $500 fee for LoJack.” I told him he wouldn’t make the sale if he didn’t get that fee removed and we literally almost walked of the dealer over the $500 charge that the salesman said was mandatory since it was already installed. Long story short(er), he had to call his GM who was on vacation to get the fee removed but I was pissed at how far he was taking the whole charade. Never have I paid for the LoJack, even when it was pre installed. These dealers are just taking way too much advantage of the supply and this to me is the new form of price-gouging during an emergency. It should be illegal, it probably is in some states, but people are forced in some situations when they don’t have any other options.

Haha, I just realized how long my rant was and I apologize but apparently your story triggered me and my recent dealings with these sleaze balls .
Haha I ranted longer so its ok. But yikes. On a CRV too. I totally agree that it is crazy how far along they will run the charade. I honestly don't get it either. How long to they think this market and chip shortage will actually last. At some point it will end but the tarnished and customer abusive relationship the bad dealers are making for themselves never goes away. Like when the market is back to normal and every dealer has a CRV on the lot again, people will take their chances with another dealer before going back to one that played games with them.

I have always been a tad bit nervous buying too far away but like you said, its the way to go so I will have to get comfortable with it.

They go sideways on your deal and then I will start writing reviews for them. The staff there had been really good but it seems the owner was really bent on milking for this specific truck and willing to burn a relationship over it. 3 other people I sent their way bought TRXs and besides lojack, they didn't any issues so fingers crossed they follow through with you.

It wasn't like that when I got my first truck but it totally was this time. They just threw a payment at me and when I asked for trade info and numbers didn't add up.....had to start breaking down to figure out all the different charges. Just cause $3000 in dealer add-ons divided over 60 months is "only" $50 bucks a month, doesn't make it any less stupid lol.

I absolutely HATE Harr. They are all about money and not their customers. Many many issues over the past 14 years with my various mopar vehicles. Service department is just as bad. I will never recommend them to anyone,

Anyone know any good Toyota dealers in the area. Have a cousins looking to buy a Highlander. Called 8 dealers.....anywhere from 3k to 5k over MSRP. Having a harder time getting a Toyota highlander then the TRX and C8 combined.

One dealer was talking up this big inventory shortage and how no one has any cars....that dealer had 79 Highlanders listed on their site with 39 of them on the lot that I counted.....didn't feel like they were that short.

Ha! good luck... I had the same issue buying a CRV for my dad recently, ended up paying 3k over MSRP but that's because my dad didn't care and usually keeps his cars until they die.

That said, you will have the best luck shopping out of state. Anytime I'm buying a high volume brand like toyota or honda I go to the DC and buy there. It's worth the $100 flight down there for the $$$ in savings you'll see compared to this area.

We have a Toyota store in our group. I know they are out of cars for the most part and are selling into their pipeline. They do not charge over MSRP and $189 doc fee tho.

Thanks. I will try the NH dealer suggested above if they have something on the lot otherwise make a nice Vermont day trip out of it. My cousin totaled his highlander in the snow storm a few weeks ago and just got the insurance check so is hoping to find something on the lot.

You'll love it, I enjoy mine it's pretty damn smooth for a truck!
cant wait. Sold my 2020 Ram Laramie two months ago to make a profit from price new so itching to get back into a truck, especially a beast like the TRX

Shrewsbury Mass here....Ordered 22 in December. doing the waiting game currently
Im in the same boat, even ordered a red one too, beat you by a few days to VIN. Where did you order from? Im a 267 VIN group

Hope everyone is prepared and make it through the storm safe and warm.

Just a quick heads up. I have recommended Harr to a lot of people and am rescinding my recommendation incase anyone sees me suggesting them anywhere across the forum in older posts. I have sent a lot of people their way and know of atleast 3 TRX they sold off referral, 1 wrangler, and 1 regular 1500. Just had a frustrating experience with the typical scetchball dealership antics. I thought they were better then this but clearly not.

They had an Ignition Edition coming in a month ago so called and was told MSRP and left a deposit. I would check in every other week and was getting the "owner might buy it if he likes it" card which was probably a red flag. Truck arrived Saturday just after 9, got the call that it was in around 10:45. Naturally excited, asked for confirmation on numbers and they added in 3k worth of dealer add ons (lojack, paint protection, and under coating), price on the truck was hit with 2 price increases and not price protected which I understand that part. Told them I didn't want the dealer add ons but they claimed it was mandatory now. Asked if they can hold off on it I would rather they not do it. They said it was already done. No way it was ceramic coated, undercoated and lojack installed in just over an hour on a Saturday morning. I said fine whatever. Their site appraised my trade at 88k. MSRP is 92k+2k for the oem power steps. We know these trucks are going well over MSRP but I was perfectly fine with their online appraisal. My 21 TRX has 4k miles on it and it was 1k less then what carmax offered so I am ok with that number. One of their sales girls on the phone had confirmed it with me that their online numbers were accurate.

Owner of the dealer gets involved and says that they can only offer me 76k for my trade. Original MSRP on the Ignition truck was 96k. So now they wanted 102k with the dealer add-ons and price increases which I agreed too and now they completely low ball the trade. Went back and forth with the manager over numbers but they wouldn't budge and said atleast we are MSRP on the new truck. I said fine, I will sell my truck to carmax and bite the sales tax loss and just buy the Ignition one. Was told they would not sell me the new truck without me giving them my current one for the price they offered. So basically they are making up the over MSRP on the backend. I am not a moron lol. I can do math.

Frustrating experience to say the least. They said the owner will title it and send it to auction to get what he wants for it. I have no problem with dealers charging over MSRP if they are upfront about it and not waste my time. Nothing grinds my gears more then when a dealer is ashamed to admit they are over MSRP and play games to dance around it and make it up elsewhere. Been banging my head off the wall all week to get my deposit back so might have to credit card dispute it at this point. They've already sold or moved the truck so why getting my deposit back has been such a pain is beyond me.

Gave them 6 sold vehicles worth of referral business with 2 people still waiting for trucks and the amount of cars I go through....they made maybe 10k more sending the truck to auction but shot themselves in the foot 10x that in what I sent their way in the last year that they will never get again. They will never be getting my business again either. Sounded like new ownership but not sure.

Sorry for the novel. I needed to vent. I dont get upset easily but hate getting excited about something and then getting stepped all over.:cry:
Who’s the dealer ?
