Hope everyone is prepared and make it through the storm safe and warm.
Just a quick heads up. I have recommended Harr to a lot of people and am rescinding my recommendation incase anyone sees me suggesting them anywhere across the forum in older posts. I have sent a lot of people their way and know of atleast 3 TRX they sold off referral, 1 wrangler, and 1 regular 1500. Just had a frustrating experience with the typical scetchball dealership antics. I thought they were better then this but clearly not.
They had an Ignition Edition coming in a month ago so called and was told MSRP and left a deposit. I would check in every other week and was getting the "owner might buy it if he likes it" card which was probably a red flag. Truck arrived Saturday just after 9, got the call that it was in around 10:45. Naturally excited, asked for confirmation on numbers and they added in 3k worth of dealer add ons (lojack, paint protection, and under coating), price on the truck was hit with 2 price increases and not price protected which I understand that part. Told them I didn't want the dealer add ons but they claimed it was mandatory now. Asked if they can hold off on it I would rather they not do it. They said it was already done. No way it was ceramic coated, undercoated and lojack installed in just over an hour on a Saturday morning. I said fine whatever. Their site appraised my trade at 88k. MSRP is 92k+2k for the oem power steps. We know these trucks are going well over MSRP but I was perfectly fine with their online appraisal. My 21 TRX has 4k miles on it and it was 1k less then what carmax offered so I am ok with that number. One of their sales girls on the phone had confirmed it with me that their online numbers were accurate.
Owner of the dealer gets involved and says that they can only offer me 76k for my trade. Original MSRP on the Ignition truck was 96k. So now they wanted 102k with the dealer add-ons and price increases which I agreed too and now they completely low ball the trade. Went back and forth with the manager over numbers but they wouldn't budge and said atleast we are MSRP on the new truck. I said fine, I will sell my truck to carmax and bite the sales tax loss and just buy the Ignition one. Was told they would not sell me the new truck without me giving them my current one for the price they offered. So basically they are making up the over MSRP on the backend. I am not a moron lol. I can do math.
Frustrating experience to say the least. They said the owner will title it and send it to auction to get what he wants for it. I have no problem with dealers charging over MSRP if they are upfront about it and not waste my time. Nothing grinds my gears more then when a dealer is ashamed to admit they are over MSRP and play games to dance around it and make it up elsewhere. Been banging my head off the wall all week to get my deposit back so might have to credit card dispute it at this point. They've already sold or moved the truck so why getting my deposit back has been such a pain is beyond me.
Gave them 6 sold vehicles worth of referral business with 2 people still waiting for trucks and the amount of cars I go through....they made maybe 10k more sending the truck to auction but shot themselves in the foot 10x that in what I sent their way in the last year that they will never get again. They will never be getting my business again either. Sounded like new ownership but not sure.
Sorry for the novel. I needed to vent. I dont get upset easily but hate getting excited about something and then getting stepped all over.
