Mopar Extended Warranty

Many people don't know this and the seller don't make it clear. Just remember that your extended warrantly will start on day one /zero mile and not when your 3 yrs factory warranty ends. So if you buy 5 yrs of extended warranty, you're only getting 2 yrs of extended warranty.
Truth, for example; the new car 7 year / unlimited miles that would expire in 2028 whether you buy today or 2 years because they go by the original in service date.

Now.... there ARE preowned Maxcare warranties with the same coverage as new car Maxcare warranties, that you can buy and do start from date of purchase, but... are they cheaper? That's debatable and most typically are not, and I'd in typical cases recommend buying the new car warranty vs preowned

Here's why: The older the vehicle and the more miles on the vehicle, the higher premiums are, Think of it Just like health insurance. Also, since I used the above 7year / unlimited miles, ill use that for following case, comparing apples to apples. The best comparable you can get to that is 4years / unlimited miles. (The 7 year isn't in the preowned)

Let's just say that you waited 3 years for your factory warranty to expire, and have just over 36k miles. You'd only be able to buy (4years) until the year 2028, just like you would with the new care warranty, only diff is that it's $740 more and this is *IF FCA doesn't increase rates over the next 3 years (we know they will lol). See photos below.

can canadians get warranty from you?

I have also started waiting until just just prior to factory warranty expires and buying from a dealer that’ll give me a good deal. This way if I get rid of the truck for whatever reason within 3 years, I’m not wasting that money.

But if you read above, you will likely pay a higher price for less warranty. The price paid today on a 2021 TRX for a 100,000 warranty will likely be less than the same 100,000 warranty in 3-4 years when your TRX has 60,000 miles on it. It would be great if they extended the warranty 100,000 miles above what you already have but that’s not the case. Inflation is in our future! You can’t spend 5 trillion dollars in one year and expect the dollars value to be the same. I would expect the price of these warranty’s to double in 2-3 years.

I believe this will cover a TRX and its engine. It says:

Excludes: SRT vehicles; Viper; diesel vehicles including Eco Diesel; Ram Cab/Chassis; ProMaster; Hellcat models; Demon Models; vehicles equipped with Scat Package...

I havent seen any marketing calling the TRX a SRT and we all known 'Hellcat' is a Dodge term not referenced on the Ram. I according tot he exclusions you would run into trouble if you had any cab or chassis issues though.

I'm not going to risk it - i'll go with a mileage-based extended warranty.
Absolutely correct! I see the EXCLUSION is for SRT vehicles and like you, ive not seen any marketing of TRX being in the SRT family, so posted pricing. However, today when I pull the vin detail of another members truck, it listed
Engine:
ESD-6.2L Supercharged HEMI V8 SRT Engine

So, I've edited my post until I have clarification from my MVP rep.

Good Catch

Interesting seeing Ziegler offering an unlimited mileage warranty on the TRX. I wonder what their take is on the exact coverage or exclusions for the TRX.

I know the TRX is not a “SRT” vehicle but the window stickers states it has the “SRT engine” do you think dealers/ FCA will try and use that as a loophole if a big problem arises?

I don't have my truck yet but I swear I have seen pictures of the supercharger and it has an SRT logo.

It sounds like it. Let’s wait and see what Okie comes back with.

Someone did post a picture of that somewhere in the forum.

My dealer sold one of our TRXs yesterday, while in finance, he added the 8yr/12k MVP with $100 deduct, for $5200. I was cringing!! But I have to stay cordial to the other departments, while there.

I'm like, "YO.......DONT DO IT......."

Zeigler has 8yr/125k for $3245 with $100 deduct and im over here @ $2880....

I paid $3,200 for the 100k warranty, service plan and tire protection. I was never an extended warranty guy because I usually traded out every year. But I kept my raptor for 4 years and the transfer case failed at 75k miles....so that experience changed my perspective. (I do have to give a nod to Ford they didn’t charge me for the parts just the labor) Since I plan on keeping Trx for awhile I figured I would get it this time.

Did you confirm that TRX isn't excluded? If so I missed that part of the thread.

Actually, my rep is still awaiting confirmation. He says that it's most likely going to be the same as the demons/hellcats. But was unsure, based on the writings of exclusions.
