Mopar Extended Warranty

Quick question.... why this guy and not dealer? I assume better pricing?
I have the same question. I am not clear why you would buy an extended warranty from a third part but then I would not spend my money on one to begin with. Still would like to understand the pros vs cons in case I change my mind.

Well 1st I don’t have a truck and 2 I have never bought an extended warranty before... so I am a complete noob dealing with the possibilty of a warranty. Thanks
One time in my life I purchase an extended warranty on a vehicle because at the time I was putting on over 40,000 miles a year. The warranty was purchased from the dealership where I purchased the car and on the same day I purchased the car. The warranty was a bumper to bumper meaning it was sold as covering everything on the car. The one time I tried to use it for a broken door panel they denied the claim. I have never purchased another one since and really haven’t needed one since I tend to buy new vehicles every year or two.

Yeah I also believe you can purchase an extended warranty later if you deem it necessary.

I have never purchased an extended warranty for a vehicle before, but did this time simply because of it being the first year for the TRX and I do plan to keep the truck for a while. I only wanted the Mopar backed MaxCare plan though. From other threads here that seemed to be the best option for the truck, its through Mopar and is accepted at any CDJR dealer. I would like to thank @OkieTRX80 publicly, he posted in another thread about selling the Mopar backed MaxCare warranty at Cost+$100 and even provided the complete price breakdown of all options. I chose the 7yr/125k $100ded plan as that fit my previous couple trucks mileage usage pretty well.

Armed with his information, when I picked my truck up yesterday, the dealer offered a 3rd party plan that didn't match what the Mopar offered and at a higher price. I was able to counter with the exact part number Mopar plan that I wanted and price I would pay. They accepted it on the spot. All deals should be that easy.

Thanks. Can your share that part number for future reference.

Haha yeah, that’s why I said $200 over cost. Everyone understands profit. They have jobs. We have jobs. But i just don’t like when people say hey this is $100 over and it’s not.
Make a new post and I'll pin it to the top and delete this one!

@OkieTRX80 mentions in the other thread that it is VIN specific so maybe its based on the options the truck was built with? he sent them to me in a PM so while the part numbers are the same the prices in the sheet I have may not be accurate to everyone so I don't want to post the sheet just to save confusion. He may be able to clarify that for us, and if it is accurate to all I can post the PDF here.

I will try to break down the part numbers though.
All part numbers begin with WM and end in N
Then pick deductible. $0 = X, $100 = (NOTHING), $200 = T
Then years (5,6,7,8), then mileage (60,75,85,100,125)

EX. mine for a 7yr/125k with $100 deductible is WM7125N
if I chose the $200 ded I would have added the T in so it would be WMT7125N

I will say that there are unlimited mileage plans for 5,6 & 7 year ranges as well but it says they exclude SRT vehicles. I didn't feel like it was worth it to take the unlimited just in the event they didn't cover the engine since it has an SRT badge on it.

Many people don't know this and the seller don't make it clear. Just remember that your extended warrantly will start on day one /zero mile and not when your 3 yrs factory warranty ends. So if you buy 5 yrs of extended warranty, you're only getting 2 yrs of extended warranty.

If you plan on keeping this thing and driving it hard, extended warranty is always worth it
I plan to try and break it for a bit then roll around with 1100-1400hp. I don’t think they will cover broken axles

As a fellow TRX owner in waiting (D1 status), I Hope this helps guys.

I work for a dealer, in the service department. I give this information as a tool for you to use, when buying your FCA extended warranty. I actually advocate you buying from your dealer, because it's ONE transaction and more convenient. But Simply put, if your dealer won't sell for $100 over their cost, I will.

Why? Because we are not doing anything but a few damned key strokes with ZERO risk and I hate seeing people get burned for 1000s over cost for a warranty. I absolutely cringe when I see someone paid 5k for a warranty that would have cost 1500.

I offer to yall $100 over cost, only to keep my bosses happy. If they see a 0 margin sale, they tend to want someone's head. If I could do at cost, I certainly would lol. 🤣🤣

With that said, I can confirm this FB post is NOT a great deal and a typical finance liar that I'm sure uses the term "Bumper to Bumper" loosly, as in service, there is literally no such thing.

Full transparency, Here is a break down of FCA maxcare warranty dealer cost for your truck, if they are telling you different, they are LYING. Feel free to reach out to me if your dealer is a douche and you want it added. I'll send you my info and we can make it happen over the phone, In the matter of minutes.

I truly do hope this helps
Thanks that is very helpfu!!

I view paying high extended warranty fees like paying ADM over MSRP. There is a lot of people out there creating that demand by paying ADM. It would not exist if people would take the time to do some research and find dealers that don’t charge ADM and do business with them and tell the ADM dealers where to go. Also I view dealers that charge ADM as morally bankrupt. If they will rip you off when you buy from them then you can’t trust them and most likely they will rip you off every time you bring a vehicle in for service. They are the dealerships that overcharge for service and parts along with selling repairs or parts you don’t need.

That's exactly my point i had a long discussion on FB about this with a guy that is selling extended warranty for $100 now $200 over his cost
My question is if you { like me } know that you are not going to put on your truck more than 36k in 3 years why do you want to give a dealer adisional 2K { warranties and financing are where the dealer is making the most amount of money btw } on top of $90+ that you are paying for the truck ?
Simple rule if your 3 year is about to expire then you start shopping for your extended warranty it might cost you a little more but at least you don't piss away 2k during your first 3 years

Really appreciate this. Am I reading this correctly that an 8yr/85K/200ded is cheaper than a 7yr/85K/200ded?

I believe this will cover a TRX and its engine. It says:

Excludes: SRT vehicles; Viper; diesel vehicles including Eco Diesel; Ram Cab/Chassis; ProMaster; Hellcat models; Demon Models; vehicles equipped with Scat Package...

I havent seen any marketing calling the TRX a SRT and we all known 'Hellcat' is a Dodge term not referenced on the Ram. I according tot he exclusions you would run into trouble if you had any cab or chassis issues though.

I'm not going to risk it - i'll go with a mileage-based extended warranty.

Assuming that you're planning to buy the 5 yrs extended warranty just before your 3 yrs factory is about to expire, I think the cost will be much higher but you still will only be getting 2 yrs of extended warranty and not 5. So wouldn't it be cheaper to buy it now?

Talk to my dealer today and honestly cost of 2 years would be cheaper then buying 5 years and only using 2 because 3 are covered by warranty that comes with a vehicle
One more thing a lot of people add the amount they pay for a warranty to the car payment so after all you are paying much more than you are quoted .
