I was just browsing mopar.com and came across a TRX driveshaft grease kit for $2.35. It comes with grease, one clamp, and 8 attaching bolts (no driveshaft boot). I ordered it...guess I'll see if it comes with the "special" grease. My question is how is this kit $2.35 but the kit described in the service bulletin $99.85.

I suspect that price is a mistake. Based on the single location that I could find with this grease, it comes out to $32.17 for a 25g amount of this grease. Plus a clamp and 8 bolts - no way it's only $2.35 (including markup).

I'm just talking out of my ass here, so take it for what it's worth.
I assume that FCA's choice of unobtanium-based grease was due to some testing - presumably they found a grease that won't relocate to the boot. Otherwise, it seems an odd choice to use a grease that isn't available in the USA.

Perhaps but I’m not holding my breath. Ford developed special stuff for this application too (what I’m using) but the long term fix was a new harder coating on their yoke splines.

so you've essentially done Ram's "fix" already (albeit without the special alien grease) and the clunk has returned? If your grease has left the building (and gone into the boot), then i'm sure Ram's alien grease will do the same. Sounds like the best evidence we've seen so far of this "fix" being a band-aid only.

the correct kit is 68597433AA

Assuming the special German alien grease does not permanently remedy the problem, It would be good to know all the different types of grease people have used so we can all do our part to find the best longer-term solution. E.g., Maybe red& tacky would stay put longer?

That is not a real part. It should not be visible on the site. That part number supersedes to 68597433AA. I have seen this happen before. A place holder part number with a bogus price makes it through the system when it was not supposed to. I have an original PDF copy of the Direct Connect catalog with some amazing prices listed.

Not per the Rev. A document. They cut it off at 2/5. But from what I'm seeing, there's a chance you can still get it done despite the date.

It’s on the official memo that if any TrX is having this problem, no matter what date is was built, to do the maintenance needed

You can try but I am positive it will be declined. That kit does not exist and there is no stock in the world for it. No dealer can order it either. That number automatically supersedes to the new number. You can try if you want. If you like anger and failure.

Mine is available since I won’t be using it if anyone wants it. Kit includes the grease, clamps, bolts, a new boot… and instructions.

The kit does exist (at least when I ordered it it did), I ordered it and it shipped from a dealer. I ordered directly from Mopar and it shipped from Lithia CDJR in Pocatello. Mine is available since I won’t be using it if anyone wants it. Kit includes the grease, clamps, bolts, a new boot… and instructions.

I am refering to the 68597291AA Kit for $1.69. It automatically supersedes in the order system. There is not an option to buy that part from the dealer. If you got some a dealer to sell it to you for that price then they took nearly a $100.00 hit on it. That is something I could not do and 99.99999% dealers will not do.

I followed your lead RobR651 and ordered from Mopar site. With shipping total cost is a little over $5. Says it will ship from a dealership in my state but not the closest dealership to me. I am guessing the closest with it in stock. I hope they send it as I would prefer to do this myself
