Front end suspension clunk

Not that I think all dealership techs are bad.....BUT.....I would put it up on a rack and check for myself.
You could also take it for an alignment, have them check for anything binding.
My brother owns a shop and when I take it in to use his lift to change out fluid, I will do this.

I had a KING suspension in my Tundra before getting this TRX. That suspension was fantastic but it also had the clunk when dropping off a curb. It was very sharp and loud on the KING setup. It is my opinion that this is the rebound of the shock that is returning to full extension rapidly. The faster the rebound the louder and more abrupt the return. I had the KING shocks tuned for fast fire road driving with washboards and big dips etc. it was amazing but this was the result.
I assume this is what we are hearing on the Bilstein’s. If you change the drive modes on the TRX you will probably notice a slightly different sound or clunk as the rebound valving changes.

I get it but why just one side? If I drop off a curb with both front tires at the same time, it's only the passenger side that has the clunk.

Good point on the drive modes; I will give it a shot once out of this darn quarantine.

Mine does sound more prominent on the passenger side as well.

Mine happens on the passenger side as well. I guess I'll go check how much flex my catch can has

As long as others are experiencing this I will assume it is normal. After all, it was worse with my King susp.

You and the gas tank are on the drivers side. So maybe it hasMore shaft travel to build more speed for when it tops out and the shock internals hit.

I’ve seen a million pics of the eibach internal bump stop (or their internal bypass as king calls them)

I’m trying to find a pic or vid or cutaway of the top out, so when it goes to full extension. Is it just piston assembly against the oil cap?

So dealer called and said they didn’t hear anything abnormal. Typical bs. I’m going to see if I change it to Baja mode if it will still do it. I mostly use street mode or sport mode.

I don’t know if it’s my imagination or if it’s real but it seems better (less clunk) in Baja mode.
Yesterday I took a bend in the road a little hot and cut the corner enough to have my front passenger tire off the pavement and unweighted. The clunk was obvious. I think the suspension is trying to return to the ground as fast as possible And the noise is the rebound topping out.

Someone needs to put a gopro down there and film this

I went to srt and trackhawk before buying trx, and the racks work the same as on trx, they knock even when moving recumbent, it’s not a suspension failure, it’s a fucking bilstein, I think that the Fox struts are where better than a bilstein, have you ever seen a bilstein off-road?! That's it ... Therefore, look, the racks knock and will knock, they all knock even on Subaru ...

On my TRX already 26000 km

Bilstein has a huge presence off road. One of the reasons they aren’t like king prerunner or fox non factory series is because bilstein black hawks are billet bodies with billet bypass tubes.

And they stack their shocks full of details.
For instance an oem fitment Tacoma fox or king won’t have an internal bypass or internal “hudraulic bump”

The bilsteins do.

The king and fox in order to get a comp adjuster or as bilstein calls it, an anti cavitation valve, it’s a 350 per shock upgarde. Bilstein comes standard.

You are forced into a much better stock at an entry level with bilstein and you pay for it.

And I’m not a bilstein fan boy. I’m an ads racing guy.
