EBC Brakes Announce NEW High Performance Pads

@EBC Brakes it sounds like you are doing yourself a disservice by referring to them as "Military Grade". I have worked with companies that manufacture, quote and supply products to the military. As you know the "Bid" always goes to the lowest bidder. That in and of itself means you are not getting the best product which in my opinion is a disservice to the people that put their lives on the line to keep us safe. That being said if these are in fact superior in quality then you should strongly consider naming them something else that would reflect that. You already have a strong line of quality brake pads for everyday use and for racing so where in you line up do these fall. Most of us here are already familiar with your Green and Red series brake pads. How do these compare? Where is the testing to back up the quality of these new "Military Brake Pads" In your opening Statement you reference the "SR" series. Are you saying that is what these are? If so why not just call them so and be done with it. I look forward to your response as I'm sure others will too.

So thought I would chime and say I am currently in Government contracting and when we evaluate proposals for a requirement we go off of several factors that weigh differently. For example everyone refers to the “lowest bidder” but in reality the evaluation factor was probably lowest price technically acceptable (LPTA). Meaning that vendor met the technical specifications for that requirement at the lowest price. There are other evaluation factors such as best value, where factors other than price are considered.

Most veterans know that service members break everything lol and generally don’t treat our equipment as we would if we purchased it personally. I cannot verify if their compound is the same that is used in the military, but I think they are just trying to market it as “tough and reliable” like our armed forces.

What if our trucks have not arrived yet? Are we excluded from this contest? Maybe you could do a separate contest for us unlucky guys and gals that have been waiting forever and ever to take delivery of our trucks. Thank you
We will certainly do another giveaway of some sort in the near future, so there will be another chance for you guys :)

I have used ebc red yellow and green. That’s not the point. The point is “military grade”.
For those in the military that doesn’t mean much. And I doubt they are using the same compound… or I hope they aren’t, that they say they make for amgeneral.

If they want to make a heavy vehicle performance brake pad… and market it to those who want high mu at cold temp with thick pads for trucks. Say that.
thank you the input is certainly important to us, and we will take all of your comments on board.

We do not supply the AM general company, we supply spare parts direct to the military, and the new proposed brand of MGP are a sintered metal of an even higher spec using the same base of pressure-sintered alloys we specialize in.

This material is also used in endurance auto racing and has a high friction level capable of faster speeds also (on highways etc)

I had not considered this outlook and response from ex-military persons but I am glad it has been raised to my attention.

There is a new technology which is used in the SR series that creates a brake 'film' and it has been shown to extend life substantially and improve braking ability, we are using the same technology but they will not be the exact same pads. I will be speaking to my superiors and considering a change of name for the product. SR stands for 'Sintered-Race', so we will look for a new name to distinguish the difference.

Thank you for sharing your opinion, its very important to us to get a good idea of what customers think and these forums are the perfect place to 'test the water' for things like this, and it will all be taken into consideration.

Military Grade:
Guys, choose another name for this classification. As a civilian who hangs with a lot of vets, it makes them cringe, which makes me cringe. Maybe something off the desert theme they are built in like “Trophy Grade” baja grade, or something highly impressive like The Maximus Haultus trophy series…. By the way my truck isn’t in yet but you can send them to me at: Joel Golden…

I guess my point is so many companies are jumping on the “military” band wagon… but not really doing their best when supplying the mil or for supporting vets.

So if this isn’t the same spec you are providing for a sub 10,000 lb mil vehicle then it’s not milspec.

As someone pointed out you had the “SR” monicker on it. Run with that. Call it the “sports truck” series or “prerunner” series if your focus is trucks.

I think it was Hawk that came out with the “LTS” pad designed for trucks and whoever who had the z36… it was just their regular semi metallic sport pad just thicker.
The “LTS” monicker was good “Light Truck Sport”

Trust me, I’m all in for a good pad that is focused on the weight of a truck abs the rotational leverage of a 35 or 37 inch tire. And that is thick so I have an extra 2-3 mm of pad material…

But call it what it is and stop leveraging the military.

Trophy grade… baja grade… prerunner grade…

Fast truck grade … (yea that sucks)

I will have to agree with my fellow brothers in arms on this one. I think the name will “cheapen” the product regardless of the quality. I personally have not used your pads to date, but I wouldn't buy a product that claimed to be military grade.

Sticking with the veteran branding...Veteran Inspired Pads (VIP) could be tied back to your military sales/experience...plus everyone likes the VIP treatment 🙌🏾

I simply drive my truck way too fast and too hard all the time. If you look around, I was one of the first people to complain how crap the brakes are because you can literally slam on the brakes a couple times and they are already pretty cooked. Doesn't make sense a vehicle this big, this fast come with such crap brakes. Give me a set of pads, I'll put them through the test.

Yeah, I avoid stuff labeled “Military Grade”. It’s typically used to hype up a very lackluster product.

Would definitely be interested in some quality performance pads though.

Send a set to KnightMare. He will give an honest review. He was one of the FIRST TRX owner/reviewers and his opinions are respected by most of us here.

How about calling them TBG "Tommy Boy Grade"

I will do this one better. I truly believe the moderators of this forum especially triple b really deserve the right to be the winners of this raffle for all there work with little to no compensation.
