Dram of the Day

(True story)!🫡

I took the weekend off from refreshments. Haha…guess I made up for it last night and tonight.

Tuesday I enjoyed my old stalwart….Bakers 107. It’s hard for me to imagine enjoying another option more. My lips have never touched a Pappy pour so I reserve judgment of the “best” til that day.

Tonight I tried Weller 107 Antique for the first time. Actually found it while picking up the TRX in Georgetown, KY at the beginning of the month. Wow, is it good. Got a nose on it that is really enjoyable. Lots of apple and raisin notes with some cinnamon too. Hard for me to find…so after two shallow pours I went back to my Bakers from the night before (still the top of my list)!

I happened upon a couple new Clase Azul additions this weekend, Anejo and Guerrero Mezcal. The anejo is more refined and much less sweet than the reposado. I’ve been disappointed in their reposado offering, but the anejo is pleasant.

My wife and I are going to do a little bourbon tour when picking up the truck, any favorite spots to hit/recommendations? We’ll probably do 3-4 days or so before cruising back home

Not sure if you will be near the Jack Dainels distillery, but I enjoyed it! It was over a decade ago, but they will upload your group tour photo on their website.....provided they still.do it! Have fun!

Live in the general area so we've been there, enjoyed it quite a bit, even did the bottle engraving thing, which is a nice piece on the bar cart.

Are you picking up at Cummings in Kentucky? If you are anywhere near Bardstown, both Bardstown Bourbon Company and Heaven Hill have beautiful facilities. There are so many bourbon things to do in the Louisville/Bardstown area, it's tough to name them all.

Yup! I was looking around online and found the bourbon trail website and was using that as reference for different places/locations. Good to hear Bardstown is a good spot, that was an area I was eyeing, my wife hates bourbon so she gets to be the DD during the break-in period haha.

Always nice to have a built-in DD!

Big American whiskey fan over here, so I thought I's start a thread just so folks can post what they're drinking at any given time.

My current daily rotation includes McKenna 10, Heaven Hill 7, Elijah Craig Toasted Barrel, and Wilderness Trail, and there's some stuff in the back for more special occasions. :)

You guys can get this rolling cause I'm on the back end of my dry January, so no drink for me till 12:00.01 Feb 1st.

It doesn't have to be bourbon or rye, for the purposes of this thread it can also be Scotch, or Japanese, or whatever other type of whiskey.

As always, pics or we don't believe you. :)
I live very close to many distilleries near the Ky. River and pick up interesting bottles of bourbon frequently. My latest find is Dexter, finished with oak, maple and cherry woods.
Highly awarded. Very smooth.
(It’s actually distilled near Cincinnati, but I make the occasional exception to out of state spirits.)

Get yourself over to Buffalo Trace! I regret not stopping there on the way home.

Have a few co workers that also really have enjoyed the bourbon train dinner experience. My wife and I have yet to try it… I believe it’s called the old Kentucky train bourbon experience… but I’ll let folks more local than I weigh in if it’s worth your time…
