I’ll break into the Breckinridge tonight. I’ll let you know my thoughts. @soulsea had a rec on the single barrel. Excited to try.Breckenridge Bourbon is a new one to me so tell us what you think.
Widow Jane is some good stuff! I've got a little something special for tonight as well.
Copenhagen "used to" have a 30 year love affair with Copenhagen?Love it!
Haha @Jackson , now you understand my username!
Try that illegal one first, but then again the others might not taste as good. Cheers my friend. Enjoy. These just arrived, thank you for the recommendations @Caliche looking forward to trying them out later on tonight.
I need some more time with it.... was just doing a quick tasting. Ended up with the Rabbit Rye for the evening festivities. Now that was absolutely delicious. CheersWell lookie here ... how you like the old potrero?
This is a safe place Caliche and you can be honest with our Supreme Leader. “I need more time with it” can mean that you need more time with it or that it’s harsh in any number of ways. Whatever you do, don’t add water to it to make it more palatable. He gets PISSED.I need some more time with it.... was just doing a quick tasting. Oooh, I love the bottle! Our fearless leader is somewhat correct except that our taste buds and olfactory receptors are the most accurate when the whiskey is below 40%ABV. More than 40% and the alcohol can block some of the more subtle flavors and aromas. Your first time or two experiencing a whiskey, add some water to get it down below 40%. The famous Master Distiller from The Dalmore, Sir Richard Patterson, would argue that it should be closer to 30% to grasp more of the subtleties of the spirit but it comes down to personal preference. Then, once you know what you're getting into, most of us prefer the ABV it is in the bottle even though some of those older whiskeys can be really high in alcohol content as the water moves out of the barrel over the years and concentrates the contents into a higher proof, more complex whiskey. You'll be hard pressed to find a "smooth" bourbon that's over 60%ABV which is why the reviews on a whiskey like Kentucky Owl are so askew. Many don't understand this concept and get a little butt hurt when they spend $300 only to have their toes curl every time they partake.
Now I'm going a different path tomorrow with another gift from a pilot friend who just got back from Japan and brought me a little something. I'm intrigued to say the least!
Cheers Gents,
J

I had a client in Glasgow many years ago that gave me Scottish whiskey boot camp training. There was a bar that we frequented that had a few hundred different bottles from mild to wild. All single malts.Whatever you do, don’t add water to it to make it more palatable. He gets PISSED.![]()
Followed the directions to the tee. Also went with the Maestro. I think I’m snookered. Thank you @Jackson and @Caliche for the recommendationsGentlemen,
I’m going a different direction this evening. Let me recommend the Maestro Double Diamond tequila if you enjoy a good sipper. It’s a reposado, floral and earthy but no oaky character on the finish. It’s unique and absolutely delicious. I picked up a case at a huge discount so we are even making margaritas with it.
Secret recipe for you margarita folks..... Here’s how to keep it simple and knock the socks off your guests. Use a basic Jose Cuervo mix with the 3:1 ratio of mix to tequila but add 1/3 as much Grand Marinier and grill some oranges a day or two before. Then, soak the tequila with the grilled oranges for 12+ hrs and you get a fantastic finish that marries the flavors well but has that unique top shelf feel.

reveal? For anyone looking for a different vodka - this is not only Covid appropriate but GF, gmo free and kosher if any of that matters to you.
It’s better than the polish bathtub potato vodka I got last year.
Damn...all sold out.Where do I find this in SoCal? I had missed this. It's fantastic. Can I still go out and find some?|
EDIT: Okay. It's early enough I momentarily forgot there's this thing called the internet, it has search engines, and my lazy ass could easily find the answer as http://www.evansbrewco.com/order-beer/governhator
