Little treat for the weekend. Maybe a truck will be where the mat is too!

Breckenridge Bourbon is a new one to me so tell us what you think.

Widow Jane is some good stuff! I've got a little something special for tonight as well.

Copenhagen "used to" have a 30 year love affair with Copenhagen? :ROFLMAO: Love it!

Don’t misunderstand me, this isn’t worth the price tag. It’s also too much for me at over 120 proof. When you bring it down to 40% with some cool distilled water it transforms into a tasty dram. I hated the stuff the first few times I drank it but have come to enjoy it at a lesser percentage.

Cheers Gents,

J

Love this bourbon, it is one of my faves.

I've been looking for the recently released batch 10 locally without success. :(

One of my favorites, let us know your thoughts
I really like this, it is very smooth and flavorful. Since I’m in the tasting mood I thought I might try this too......

This is obviously very strong and it hit me on nose pretty hard. So I added some agua pura and it too is very delicious. Cheers.

Fwiw adding a few drops of distilled water to high proof bourbon/rye is to release the flavors/aromas, not to water it down to make it drinkable or tolerable.

If you need to water it down to like it then you don't like it.

The whole genius of exceptional high proof whiskey is that it is smooth and drinkable. There are better whiskeys at lower proof than a watered down high proof whiskey.

There I said it. :)

Reporting out a day late but the beast finally made it into my hand yesterday 🙃

Yes it is worth the wait, Dealer was great it arrived on Tuesday and of course I was out of town and unable to watch it be unloaded but I got the video. Truck stayed parked until I got there. After inspecting the truck, rode with the service tech into the shop for the PDI where I got to ask questions and observe most of the process. Put it on the lift looked all under checked the front diff it was down about a 1/8" looked it up in their service manual and it specs 1/8 to 1/4" below plug is OK and moved on to the transfer case. Was end the day so with no more time to do the issues review and with none of the major problems on the list found when on the PDI test drive with the tech, (received the truck with 13km). After all signed off on the PDI, I drove it to fuel up with the lot guy following along in another vehicle to top up, they filled the beast with premium to the top $188.70CAD, thirsty beast...

Scheduled back in to complete the issues list inspection next Friday, my choice to get some miles on it first.

GREAT EXPERIENCE with the dealer

Cheers

What has been said cannot be unsaid. What has been done cannot be undone. All we can do is learn and move on...🥃

Our fearless leader is somewhat correct except that our taste buds and olfactory receptors are the most accurate when the whiskey is below 40%ABV. More than 40% and the alcohol can block some of the more subtle flavors and aromas. Your first time or two experiencing a whiskey, add some water to get it down below 40%. The famous Master Distiller from The Dalmore, Sir Richard Patterson, would argue that it should be closer to 30% to grasp more of the subtleties of the spirit but it comes down to personal preference. Then, once you know what you're getting into, most of us prefer the ABV it is in the bottle even though some of those older whiskeys can be really high in alcohol content as the water moves out of the barrel over the years and concentrates the contents into a higher proof, more complex whiskey. You'll be hard pressed to find a "smooth" bourbon that's over 60%ABV which is why the reviews on a whiskey like Kentucky Owl are so askew. Many don't understand this concept and get a little butt hurt when they spend $300 only to have their toes curl every time they partake.

Now I'm going a different path tomorrow with another gift from a pilot friend who just got back from Japan and brought me a little something. I'm intrigued to say the least!

Cheers Gents,

J
