Ahh the rabbit hole................ Cheers

It's funny! I wish this whole group lived close by so we all could have a good bullshiting---get-together once or twice a month sampling good spirits, beers, etc. Probably could if we all lived in Luxembourg or Liechtenstein! Cheers all!

Well Mr. @soulsea my chores took muck longer than I would have cared for, so please excuse my tardiness, I will do my best to catch up. The 2 bottles on the left are reloads, all the others are new to me.... so any critique and or opinion would be welcomed. Cheers.

Also picked up one of my favorites Oban 14 that I’m looking forward to reacquainting myself with its goodness.

Amateur opinion until our fearless leader gives you a thorough product review. ;)

I'm curious to hear what you think of the Michter's. I can't say I'm the biggest fan but they have other offerings that are borderline orgasmic. It's spicy from start to finish so as a rye whiskey fan you'll likely appreciate it. It's one of those that gets name recognition so I keep it around the house but I don't drink it when I'm at home, if that makes sense. Too many others that will curl your toes. ;) The Heaven's Door Bourbon is the only offering I've tried but I hear they have a good rye. I can't quite see which one you have there but I'm typically leery of new to market liquors from some aging musician. The typical recipe for high revenue is to buy the booze already produced from someone like MGP, finish it in some high end wine casks and sell it to your fan base at a premium. Bob Dylan was a fantastic musician but I can't speak to his passion for producing good whiskey so let's see what you think about that one as well. I found the bourbon less than fantastic but I'm snooty. ;) Legent is all of the rage right now so please comment on it. My brother rants and raves about it but I've yet to try it. As far as the Buffalo Trace, run. Run like hell. I've heard others comment on how wonderful it is and it's absolute garbage. They are capitalizing on the "most famous", "longest continually running" and almost oldest distillery in the US's name which has produced many whiskies over the years. I find it deplorable. Four Roses small batch bourbon.... Now you're talking good whiskey! But it's too strong for someone that hasn't been pickling their liver so bring the percentage down to about 30%. I believe the bottle you have is 100+ proof which might scald a few folks until you've been there enough times. Speaking of..... All of these new whiskies should be tasted at or near 30% which opens them up and levels the playing field. Splash a little Texas hill country water in there to get them to 60 proof for the best tasting experience. As for the Russel's Reserve, I'm curious to hear your thoughts.

Just my .02 after far too many,

J

P.S. I just reread the above and confirmed what my wife continues to tell me..... I'm a bit critical and I don't mean to sound so derogatory. (not her exact wording ;) ) You bought the first two selections for a reason..... They are good whiskey. Some of the others are famous but not going to dazzle you the way the Envy will. Again.... In my opinion. I'll go crawl back into my hole now. :(

THE UNTHINKABLE HAPPENED......

Well I thought this would be an appropriate place to finally celebrate the arrival of the Beast. I couldn’t be happier with this truck so far. I went to San Antonio late yesterday afternoon and finally got possession at around 6:30 pm. It was much later than I would have wanted as I had an eighty mile trip back home. As I think some of you know I live in a very rural area and I was concerned about driving through the hills after dark. I was literally saying a mantra “ don’t hit a deer” over and over again. My concern became well warranted, I was only two miles from my driveway road and what I had been fearing for the last 45 minutes happened...... I briefly looked down to the dash and when I looked up this deer was almost to the middle of the road. I did what your told never to do and swerved to avoid a head on collision with the deer. Of course I couldn’t stop the inevitable . Smashed my right front bumper into the helpless animal. I have lived in Texas for over 8 years and never ever hit a deer. I have slowed down many many times to avoid them. After waiting for more than 6+ months like many of us, my worst nightmare came true. One I just took out a helpless animal and two I just smashed my 1 plus hour old dream truck.

All I can say is I swore out loud cussing the truck gods, No No No this didn’t just happen to me and my new truck. (Also said a quick prayer for the deer) I still had about 7 miles to drive to get home. I have been dreaming about this trucks suspension setup for months and couldn’t wait to get on my 4.5 mile off road easement driveway road. So I stopped the truck on my road and did what any normal person would do... go check out the damage... No not me...I figured out how to setup the custom mode and put it into Baja suspension so I could see how well it works.I realized that there was nothing I could do about any damage so I says to myself let’s rock and roll. Now I got to tell you this truck is an absolute Monster. It worked flawlessly and was a blast bombing down the road. (Never exceeding 3500 rpm)This truck is everything I was hoping for and more.

Sorry for the long winded expose.... my wife was waiting with one of our daughters that is visiting. I got out of the truck and turned on a flashlight to see what damage I did to my beautiful new truck. It was a truck miracle, this beast didn’t have a mark or a smudge, nothing nada unfreakingbelievable. It ate that poor deer and spit her out like it was on a walk in the park. I still can’t believe that happened and the truck survived unscathed in its first encounter with nature.

So I want to make a toast to this incredible machine that defies logic in many many ways. And I especially want to toast all of our forum members for making this agonizing buying process so much more fun and informative. And as many have said to those still waiting hang in there, the long wait is definitely worth it. I have learned a ton and laughed much more than usual. Cheers to you all and Thank You.

Congrats @Caliche ! Very happy for you! Left us hanging there thinking there would be damage! Its built like a tank! Glad your truck is okay, sorry about the deer but that should send a clear message to his gang! What did you have for dinner that night?

pics when you can

Thanks. Yeah not the way I had intended getting the girl home. Went with the normal meal. We did have a couple of cocktails to celebrate her arrival though.... In Texas your not allowed to harvest road kill legally, as I already have a freezer full, no need. I have about 360 miles on her, tomorrow I am taking my wife to the airport and will get home with over 500 miles. Debating to test out the launch control and or just stomp on her a bit. I can’t believe how responsive this truck is with only 30 to 40 % throttle. I hope yours is still doing what she is supposed to do, bring a ton of smiles!! Cheers

I really like the granite color. I was a little worried seeing so many different shades through pics. It is darker than I thought it would be and that makes me very happy.

Ooooooooo! Ahhhhhhhhh! Man she looks awesome! That pic really shows the way the Granite metallic “flops”, to different shades based on the angle of panels, really pretty, no scratch that too feminine,,, its sick! When you’re looking forward to driving people to the airport (even the wife or especially the wife) then you done good!

Congrats again! Ohhhh think you just settled something, you said ”wife”,,, well maybe not but,,,no you did, @Caliche is definitely a dude, you have cows & stuff!

The nicest guy on the forum deserves such a Saaaaaaaweeeeet Truck! 👍👍

Thought I would change it up a little tonight before going back to the grind tomorrow! A couple Gin n Tonics should do it.....although a little heavy on the gin....not much room for club soda! Just a splash, but the tonic syrup is delicious! Cheers all!
