Delivery and First Service Checklist

My only 2 suggestions for the list, which the is spectacular is:

a) Add numbering of each item (1-22).

b) Name TRX Issues file to have the date at the end of file name. Like todays list: TRX ISSUES LIST 02.26.2021, so forum members can know they are looking at the latest hit list by just looking at the date, built into filename.

Updated attached. Also included page numbers so a tech can't just throw away a page and not have you realize it.

I started practicing law as a product liability defense attorney. This post is spot on. Missing bolts is inexcusable in law and in fact. I had a long conversation with a mechanical expert currently involved in Ram 1500 litigation. He will be doing a pre-purchase inspection of my truck for any visible issues, but Dealer will not want him to put a wrench to any bolts. Therefore, if all looks ok, I will purchase and then let him do a full intrusive evaluation, checking torque of all bolts. While I definitely don't want to break down on the side of the road, I am more concerned about losing control of the vehicle because of a suspension issue and hurting someone. Ram should be recalling all of these trucks based on the notice that they now have. Ford learned the hard way on the Pinto about what happens when you consciously ignore defects. And we should all want Ram to recall because if there are multiple accidents, the truck will earn an unfavorable reputation that will impact resale value of our investment.

They more worried about how I leaked their 22 TRX info then this situation. They investigating that but still have yet to issue at least a TSB to check incoming trucks. If trucks were catching on fire like Demons, they would do something but no one is hurt, so they going to roll the dice because I know it still happens in the plant from info I have.

Part of that is in the tracker in the issues tab. Have when the truck was assembled but could easily go to each link and get the time stamp when it was found

Ok so I didn’t want to wait till next week, so drove it to the dealership this morning for them to at least remove the plastic from my caliper.

Whist here I spoke to the head of the service dept about making an appointment next week for a complete inspection and to change fluids. I also spoke to him about all the issues and emailed him the list.

First let me say that they know what’s going on with the TRX. They also know about this forum. Not in a bad way from the dealer POV as they understand customers posting their issues, but they know the Ram is watching.

Whilst dealing with the plastic, the service manager armed with the list, went in and did his own visual inspection checking my truck against the list. Wouldn’t you know it, I have the axle boot issue at the right front and a new axle has been ordered.

When it comes in they’re going to take all the time it takes to go through every inch of the truck and do the fluids.

Anyway, I’m actually super pleased with how the dealership is handling this, and I’m super grateful to those of you who are compiling this list. You are doing great work and without hyperbole you might be saving people’s lives and limbs.

I’m honestly not sure what I’m going to do with this truck, I can’t use it for the purpose it was built it if I can’t trust it. We’ll see, hopefully nothing else shows up when they do the full inspection next week, otherwise it might be time to cut bait and move on.

You mean a new axle boot has been ordered, not a new axle, right? If so, I'm really surprised that they don't stock axle boots.

I believe it's like the axle on my Raptor. The boot tore on it, and you can't just replace the boot. Required a whole new axle because of the way the boot is attached.

Saw another with the boot issue on the TRX a few weeks ago, and his explanation was very similar to my Raptor issue.... so I'm guessing it's the same.

Yeah others have said they would just replace the whole axle then just the boot. Odd all these are tearing within a few hundred miles. Must be like a bad batch

Shoddy workmanship is one thing which I think we can all agree on. And yes I’m not saying that FCA isn’t liable for the many issues that have happened and thank God no one has been injured yet. The trucks should all be inspected. There are manufacturing defects that could cause injury. The members on this forum are only a small percentage of owners. There are most certainly vehicles on the road with missing or loose bolts that pose a risk of injury.

Now that I am closer to actually getting the dinosaur I too have been working on a pickup check list that I have been putting together from all the problems identified to date on the forum. I believe it has all the same info as the other check list in this forum however there are no pictures more of a point by point issues list. With over 30 years of commissioning new equipment into service (Large hydro-electric generators) I gravitate towards point form check lists. Thought I would share it, who knows someone else might like the format too. Important thing is we all let the dealers know that we are expecting more than the typical 30,000ft PDI

I had the same issue. My daughter fixed me up. Highlighted the text for copy then pasted to notes. She’s 17 I’m 55. My kids help me often.
