Daily driving a TRX

My in town mileage on winter fuel is around 10mpg.
Once the winter fuel shit is gone the truck gets a tick over 11mpg.
On the highway it depends on speed. You have to work you ass off to get the 14mpg Ram claims.
DUDE! That’s amazing to hear. You have no idea. My rebel is at 12ish. I talked to a guy the other day that just got his TRX. He said he’s getting between ‘4.6 and 6.2’ mpg. That was a pretty big deal breaker as that’s just silly. 10-11 is very do-able

Regarding fuel economy, here's a copy of what I put together last October when traveling to San Juan Island and back. Kind of gives you a ball park figure of what you might be getting in to.

It also depends on how you drive the truck. I drive like a normal person most of the time. If the 12 year old in me takes over, fuel economy takes a hit. Never seen 6.2mpg though!

I was close to canceling and going with the 22 raptor. I’m very glad I spoke with you before making any crazy decisions lol

I went from a 2012 Power Wagon to a 2020 Ford Raptor to my now 2021 TRX. The Raptor is a very nice truck, and you won't hear me talk bad about the truck. It was comfortable, the EcoPoop makes plenty of power, and the fuel economy was closer to 17mpg on the same trip I posted above going to San Juan Island. Ford truly made a nice truck. With that said, I never fell in love with the Raptor. I missed the sound of the V8, and the fake sound piped into the speakers from the Raptor was tough to handle. I just never felt like I had a connection with the Raptor. It was almost like the truck didn't have a soul. It's hard to explain. I should have been happy with the Raptor, but I just couldn't get to the point where I loved it. I see how guys love the Raptor, it has a lot going for it. It just wasn't the truck for me.

I drove mine 3 weeks for work, with driving it home 1,000 miles, and work 4,500 miles. I decided to get a work truck, and keep the trx for the nice days. Bought a Silverado 1500 3.0 diesel, it will almost pay for itself with fuel savings.

26k. 14 months. DD mixed rural, highway and a little city. Usually between 11-12 mpg. I drive in auto mode 90% of the time. Sport mode when I want to get after it and have quick shifts. No regrets at all. Tires are pretty much shot....Rotated them at 10k and 20k.....they will be replaced before 30k. I know you will enjoy this truck!

Awesome to hear, that's how my current ram went, rotated at 10 and 20, and replaced at 30. I can live with that all day! I have been replacing the tires every 30k and i'm on my 3rd set.

That’s pretty much exactly what I ordered. Without advanced safety. A lot of the guys here may know when factory’s switch over to the new model years. I’m just thinking if it’s Julyish, waiting a couple months may not be a bad idea. I saw the 23 will have a digital gauge cluster. Not sure what else though. Hopefully they address the Uconnect issues
Well now, since I'm looking to upgrade, and want the newest tech, maybe I will wait for a 2023, I am going to do some digging (and maybe make a post if I can't find one) and see what the "insiders" are saying as far as 2023 build dates. I am with you, if its july-ish I can wait, if its fall/winter, I don't think I can make it another 6 months to put an order in (to wait another 4 to get it).

Another pretty big benifit could be the resale. Last model year may be worth quite a bit in the years to come. For what that’s worth.
So its confirmed, the supercharged v8's are done after 2023?

I had a 2012 Raptor and then a 2020 Raptor before my TRX. I actually like d the 2012 Raptor better just because it had the v8 even though it lacked some technology and refinement of the 2020. I agree with your comments 100% about just not connecting with the truck but I have sure connected with the TRX. I don't have to daily drive the truck ( but I seem to anyway) so I don't focus on the gas mileage too much but it is about 10.4 and all city type driving.

The cost of tires is not the issue, I was just concerned about how “fast” they wear with normal driving (not off road or racing). I had an AWD AMG that listerally lasted 10k miles (edit: just looked it up, I did 8k with the factory tires, 9k with nitto and 10k with another brand that I forget), and it wasn’t the tires because I tried 2 other brands and they all wore just as fast. That’s what I wanted to know, If the TRX eats tires.
Still waiting on mine so I don’t know from first hand experience

But awd + heavy + power I would assume probably worse than a 1/2 ton Denali.

Do it!!

Just tell her all the upgrades you are doing are in hopes that she will like it more. I promise a 4.5L whipple will make all the difference.
I would if I thought it was worth it. You can only do so much with the tires being a hugely limiting factor. Unless I want to get a new DD and keep the TRX on drag radials year round. :ROFLMAO:

As soon as someone lowers it and puts it on street tires its going to be a beast...that being said, I don't like the aesthetic so it won't be me.

I would not say it’s confirmed, but that’s what I’ve seen. That ram/dodge will be moving away from the hellcat motor. Let me know if you find any information on the 23. If it’s just the dash cluster, I’ll probably stick with the 22. But if we’re talking a bit more power, better headlight, more colors, I may place a new order. Chapman Ram may still offer the 11% under MSRP on the 23

I’m at 33k miles in less than 10 months. I love every minute of it. Daily drive it, have a back up that I tow the TRX to the races in case I brake something so I have a way home. Add mods, I’m over 1k HP now and still drive it comfortably with no hesitation.

I have 2 daughters and a grandson, no issues or compliants from the family, except when I floor it messing with someone else on the interstate. They hate being pushed back in the seat unannounced, 🤣😂. Mine is a level 2 and the comfort and amenities are spot on for my family and I.

Factory Tires are getting lower on the tread life, about 30% left at 28k miles before I swapper to a more aggressive set a couple of months ago.

Haven’t ordered yet but I’m making a final decision this week as to what I’m ordering (TRX, Limited, Denali ultimate) and I’m looking for some input from you guys who have or had a TRX. A little background: I’ve owned a few rams, including my current Laramie, absolutely love it, and always had a toy (usually a corvette z06, c5 and c6 - sold my last one almost 2 years ago with the intention on buying another). Im due for a new truck and was going to go with a limited ram/Denali and shop for another z06 (would love to own yet another 50th anny millennium yellow z). But I’m having a kid in August so this is why I’m thinking TRX would work best for me since it’ll be best of both worlds - will feed my need for acceleration and raw power as well as a truck for the family.

Wanted to know what you guys think about daily driving a TRX and putting ~12k miles a year on it. It will be my only vehicle. My main concern is maintenance and tires: how long these a/t tires actually last with normal (non off road) driving? My uncle owns a repair garage (formerly a Chevrolet dealership) so I have the access to a “non-ram dealer” service center for oil changes and will tires at wholesale.

Also, since a kid is on the way, Throwing a car seat in the back will be a must, any of you driving a Trx daily with car seats?
It is a great truck. Lots of pieces to the decision but what pushed me we are getting closer to these monsters being gone forever. The dinosaur is a great analogy

Which tires did you switch to out of curiosity? I really wish there was a better set of tires for ya know...going fast. That aren't...drag radials. Maybe I should've bought a demon.

Drove mine 2/3 of the time for a year putting 21K miles on it. Great fun but got tired of $100+ fill-ups and highway tire noise that’s inevitable with tire wear. Use it more sparingly now

I jest a lot about the Ethanol gas mileage...we're on E60-E70 at the pump here, and my avg has only dropped from 10.5 to 9.2 under NORMAL driving conditions. And now I'm paying $3.20 a gal instead of $5. It's not the worst thing I've ever done.
