Complete installation instructions for adaptive cruise control ACC for our TRX

If you have a copy of alfaobd + a compatible OBD adapter + a security gateway bypass + wifi in your garage, I'm happy to remote control your android phone or windows computer and do it for you.
OH yes i would love that. I have been working with the AlphaObD software guy and we have not had a resolution yet. We are not able to get the Parallel virtual windows (on my mac) to completely connect.

Anyone in the Northern Virginia area who has done this already able to help enable this on my truck? I’ve already installed the switch in the steering wheel just need SW enabled… willing to compensate for your time as well.
LMK
I have installed everything myself but i can't get the software to connect to my OBDLink MX+

The issue is it's impossible with Parallels to connect the standard wifi/bluetooth card included with your Mac to your virtual machine so you can utilize the card in the way Alfa OBD needs.

If you can get Windows running via Bootcamp it will work no problem. The other option open to you is picking up a USB wireless card and mapping it to the virtual machine. See https://kb.parallels.com/123823

Get an android device and download alfaobd. I was able to add acc, lane keep assist (lka) and pedestrian emergency braking (peb) and I don’t have much knowledge in alfaobd. If you need help I can make a video detailing how this is done. It is super easy, don’t get discouraged. I was able to do this on my 2022 trx simply from researching online and I was able to successfully get everything to work.
pls do :)

Damn. I don’t know what windows boot camp is. And I do not have a PC that I can install software on. I have one for work, but they lock it down and there’s no executable that I’ll be able to execute off of it.

Ok i am at a loss. I am so frustrated now. Unfortinately i don't have any android devices or PC's. Parallel windows on a mac sucks shi$. I don't know what to do. Anyone in the Loudoun County Va area want to come install the software changes for me?

Guys, I screwed up with my acc programming. I should have read this thread before trying the install! I did what most typical guys do and throw out the instruction before install lol.
So I need your help. I changed too many parameters at once and can’t remember how the original settings were. I have the acc error that needs to be serviced. I tried to go back and it’s all screwed up. I didn’t save a backup of the original. 🤬
Can anyone check what your settings are on for all acc parameters:

1.vehconfig 2: cruise control - not present
2.vehconfig 7: type of adaptive cruise control - acc with stop and go
3. P/t chassis net : ACC adaptive cruise control -enabled
4.P/t chassis net : acc/dasm adaptive cruise control/driver assistance module - enabled
5. Cust.set.menu 1: Adaptive front light system CSM present - yes
Thanks

What year is your trx and trim level?
If you can find
There is only 2 settings you have to change on alfaobd to get acc.

Number 3 should be “not enabled”.

I have a 22 limited 10th year anniversary

I even tried to go back to my original and now can even get cruise control to work.

Would love to get a BCM ID from a similar build. Let me know if some can help please. Thanks.

Adding acc to your truck requires more hardware than just the switch. If you go to the 5th gen ram forums you’ll most likely find help there.

Just finished installing the adaptive cruise control. I only removed the fuse for the horn and never touched the ignition while working with the airbag. I did have to program it twice as I got collision assist service warning after first disabling cruise , them enabling ACC with stop and go. I think it just needs extra time for the remaining systems to acknowledge the change. Went back to original settings, no warnings. Programmed the ACC again, got the warnings to service the system. Went back to the house to investigate the issue, after 20 minutes went back to the truck and ACC is working perfectly with no warning lights.

Looks great! I did the same and also added lane keep assist (replaced 12” screen with the lka button) and also add peb.

Non-TRX trucks need the correct abs module and HCU swapped in also.
PM me your current BCM log, and I’ll get you sorted out for any current incorrect settings.

I wonder if this alphaobd setup is also useful to re-calibrate the ride height sensors after leveling the truck. Is it?

I solved it directly with one of the programmers, he sent me the unofficial version in which it was, since then I think they added it to the normal version when they updated the application.

I have to start by thanking the people who helped get me here. Taylor potter for making the switch install video and going far enough with it to show it will actually work and for me the member DUSM that helped by showing what prompts in the program were changed to make it happen. I actually have to thank my RAM dealer because if they didn't suck so fully I may not have had the drive to prove them wrong and start fiddling with my ECU. Something I know nothing about
Now that I know how to do it it's really simple. I will provide links and photos below
Installing the switch
Watch potters install of the switch. It's very straight forward. He did an outstanding job with the video. For me I found that I just needed to be patient fiddling around to get to the tabs to release the air bag the rest was easy. Listen to what he has to say. You need to come threw the holes in the steering wheel at a slight angle to get them. I'm really mechanically sharp and it frustrated me. I actually used a Philips screw driver. Take your time with this project. Worst case scenario any local garage could install the switch.
The programming. For a lot of us this is unchartered waters
You will need to buy a OBD link MX+ and a security bypass (links below). The security bypass has 4 plugs. One gets plugged to the OBD port one has what will be your new OBD port that you will plug the OBD mx to and 2 small plugs that get plugged into 2 different circuit boards under the dash. (No worries the adapter comes with good instructions, its a snap to install) I had a fellow member tell me a good hint. Remove the tabs that hold the 2 small plugs in. (Photo below). It's not a terrible spot to get the plugs into but getting them out would be tuff and there's no reason to keep it attached after your done. You'll see this immediately as you do it.
Then do not make the mistake of trying to use the software that comes with the OBD link. Like I did. You must download and buy alphaobd, link below. Its the key. Once the program is loaded follow the instructions on the alpha obd website to buy and activate the program. Easy peezy. Support is quick to respond if you have issues [email protected].
After you have activated the program go to the first tab "start" Put your vehicle information in and you will need to connect to the OBD link. Click on connect. (shown in photo1) a box comes up with the link on it. select it (photo 2) once that is done the program starts the connection to your truck and when it's good on the upper right hand side of the screen the red status will go from idle to connected
Next you want to go to the tab status/faults. You want to be sure the tab save log is checked. There's nothing worse than making an error and not remembering what you changed. just below that theres 2 tabs that bring up the changes you have made (photo 3)
The programming, click on the tab "active diagnostics". Its the one that has he car hood up, click on the open box and you get a drop down. Go all the way to the bottom. There are 2 important items. the first is car configuration change and ECU reset. To make the necessary changes click on car configuration changes. If you screw up and can't figure out what you did wrong by going back to the log you can use the ECU reset to start fresh (like I did 2x) (photo 4 below)
When you click on car configuration you will get a search box, type in cruise control and the cruise control parameter will come up. Under that it will give you to option to turn it on or off. It will be currently on, you need click it to off (photo 5) then hit the start prompt just above it. It will tell you when it's done.
Next search ACC and the adaptive cruise control will come up, change the setting to ACC with stop and go. Like before press start and the changes will be made and the program tells you when it's complete (Photo 6) Don't put the truck in drive to test it. (I have been tole the cruise has to be off before turning on the ACC) I made that mistake and it sets off the collision avoidance system. Shut it off and allow the setting to take in the computer. The program says to wait 30 sec. I actually got out and allowed the truck to go dark. Then fire it up and your ready to go. Remember if you have an issue, at the bottom of the list just under control settings is a ECU reset if you screw up. No worries. I had to do it 2X :).
When it's all said and done my dealer said he would do it for $175 and decided not to and waste my time. He said it's not possible. I can tell you I'm a techno nothing and got it. In any case you can do it yourself for close to that, in less time then it takes to deal with them and have the satisfaction of giving the dealer noting but the middle finger.
I'd like to say I appreciate this forum and what it brings to me and others. I'm glad to contribute!!

Hey Rob how is it going? I have done this upgrade to my TRX and it all went great but the strange thing. sometimes (twice already) my TRX revert back to its old settings and remove both the Cruise and ACC options and I had to plug in the AlfaOBD with OBD link MX+ to re-program it again! Is this normal or is my truck haunted?

Can someone help with programing with AlfaOBD Android version. I'm thinking I should have bought the PC version, I can't find the CC and ACC on this Android version, no search button.

Same as with the PC version, all the same settings are there in the android version. Click on the car with hood open in the lower right corner. Then select car configuration change and change the two settings:
VehConfig 2: Cruise Control Present- NO
VehConfig 7: Type of adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) system present- ACC with stop and go

What function and Control unit do I select in the drop downs?
