Colorado TRX Owners

Outstanding! That means you’re saving a reasonable amount on the sales tax as you only have to pay sales tax on the difference of the trade. However, here in Colorado ownership tax and registration fees are extremely expensive for new vehicles and usually based off of MSRP. I called my local county motor vehicle department and they’re quoting me about $1700 of ownership tax and registration fees.
Strasburg has a low tax rate way lower then most others in the state right at 3 % so taxes will be lower. As far as registration I have been granted disabled vet plates from the state and will not have to pay the registration fees.

For anyone looking to place an order at MSRP and zero down to place an order here is my salesman’s info

Colorado peeps, the wife and I are constantly watching YouTube videos of 4x4s roaming the trails of the Rockies. We are hoping to be able to do some family camping via forest service trails, how feasible will this be in the TRX? Will it be too big? We are also looking to join a 4x4 club in NOCO once we arrive since we are 4x4 noobs, any suggestions? I found this club via google: http://mountaineers4x4.org/
This really depends on the type of camping you plan on doing and how many people in your family... dry camping, pulling small camper, electricity/water, etc.

We are a family of 4.5 (me/wife/2 kids under 11/Rottweiler dog), and we camp all over the state and absolutely love it. Forest service trails or BLM (bureau of land management) is typically open all year round but mostly dry camping, if you want anything with electricity/water/sewage you'll have to plan in advance for weekend trips (6 months in advance for booking).

The forest trails can be pretty rough but the TRX will do fine more majority of them, however don't expect to keep it looking pretty on the gnarly trails. Lots of rocks/boulders/trees that will scratch up your pretty truck if you're not careful.

I've already accepted that even though it's a relatively expensive vehicle I won't get wrapped up on keeping the scratches and dents off it. I will of course be concerned about corrosion if it gets to dinged up and will keep it maintained in that regard. My kids loved the truck I just sold because riding in it was always to go and do something special that the DSRT couldn't. I want to keep that excitement going.

Same demographic, family of 4.5 w/ kids under 11 yrs. old. We are wanting to do something like this to start. Kids in the bed tent, Mom, Dad and dog in the extension tent:

Few years down the road this is the dream, need to finish the projects on the new house before I can mentally justify this:

Absolutely awesome!

The only drawback with the TRX (i'm sure you're already aware) is the payload is pretty low for a half-ton truck. Your future/second option below mitigates that concern as you can load your gear (food, water, clothes, etc.) in the trailer that you're pulling and just have your family and trailer tongue wait contributing to the payload on the TRX. You get better camping setup and allows you to carry more gear during your outdoor adventure.

When you go with your fist option you're going to max out your payload REALLY fast with tents, gear, food/water, etc. so just be cognizant and stay safe.

On the upkeep of the TRX beauty... many folks are talking about PPF (paint protection films) and ceramic coating, but what I have been relying on is seeing the state's best auto detailer and PDR (painless dent repair) team once per year, and that's been consecutively Man Cave. The only place I will let touch my truck for detailing. These specialize in exotic cars (Mclaren, Lambo, Ferarri, etc.) and pay close attention to extreme detail.

I like that option WAY better than PPF or CC, that’s more my style.

Yep, that’s it!
Thanks for the rec on detailing. I’ve been wondering where to go for my wife’s x3 M40i and the TRX. We haven’t typically owned nice enough cars to care prior.
@Loops one way to keep down the weight of just packing in water for your first option is the life straw products. Just gotta camp where there is a stream or lake (I’m 9/10 times looking for fly fishing, so never a problem for me). The kids think it is super cool to drink straight stream water too which is a bonus. Then you keep critical payload capacity for important things like beer and ice.

Keeping the Colorado side active. Any guess on what dealer will be the first to deliver our TRX orders? The way things seem to be going I anticipate taking delivery sometime next February or March.

Dealer originally told me January when I ordered in august, so far that seems true.

Johnson Auto Plaza in Brighton will likely be one of the first in the state to deliver the TRX. They have the states largest sales volumes in trucks and one of the best customer satisfaction ratings.

My truck was a dealer order converted to customer order with a few changes. Originally this one was to be late December, January. FCA asked my dealer if I wanted to lose the bead locks and carbon fiber as it would speed up the order. I only dropped bead locks. They were saying late Feb or March now. That seems to line up with the delayed production notes some are getting. I’m hoping mine isn’t too far after that, as I do have one of the higher VINs. My truck is through Christopher Dodge.

Since there is only a few allocations in Montana and I have one, this is probably as close as I will get to a local thread. Sound off if you're in the Northwest!
I’ve got one of the allocations from Montana as well. I live in Buffalo Wyoming but snagged one from lithia in Billings.

Congrats on the truck. Did you get a LE? Billings quoted me 20k over the day of launch. Said no non LE allocations. I gave them some choice words and called Missoula and got a loaded GC for 5k over? I hope your experience was better. Looking forward to a NW meetup some day!

I paid 4 over msrp
Was pissed but decided to do it.

I am confused here. Your dealers are charging over MSRP? Meaning, if you build on the RAM site and it comes in at a price, they add to that? My RAM build came in at $81k. My dealer price was $77k. I did pay a $2k non refundable deposit Which is transferable to any other order.

I think we all know what a dealer add tag is. Why try to shame people who live in areas where the only available trucks are selling for over sticker. Sure it is cool if you can get msrp or under, but not everyone can.

In other news, 4k over isn't great, but others are being charged as much as 20k over. Dont beat yourself up about it, unless it is an amount that will create hardship for you, in which case consider not purchasing.

LOL, you can't purchase something that isn't built yet. By all means brag about what price you've paid (with proof) when you have the keys in your hand and the deal is done. I'd be willing to bet you and a lot of other guys with "MSRP or lower" pricing will be paying the same ADM by the time your driving away from the dealer. Congrats on your order, I sincerely hope you get the deal you think your getting in the end.

Sorry guys. I didn’t intend to piss anyone off. I see how that happened though.

So, I may be a Colorado TRX owner sooner than expected. Submitted my info to Lockheed last week after talking to some folks on here, and a recruiter called me today to tell me that he thinks they have a home for me at Lockheed Martin in CO...so, I guess I get to do some of those super fun engineer interviews (they are not fun at all, like a impromptu pop quiz about a subject you didnt study for) and maybe get an offer and move my family before my truck even gets delivered...which would mean I would have to come back to Texas again to get my truck, but would come with a road trip into the mountains with the purchase!

It is cool, @Futant. There are just a lot of tense folks around here who have been waiting for months (and will be for the foreseeable future) for their trucks to be built and it is better if we can be supportive and constructive. I am sure that the affected parties appreciate your apology!
