Break-in Period

You maybe right but if you have a catastrophic failure from minor to major and take it into the dealership and when they download the data from the computer, they’re not going to cover you.

The factory can’t feel any better knowing that they’re not going to have to absorb a huge repair cost is that data is reviewed.

They take this break in very seriously and when you signed on the dot of line you committed to following that break in procedure along with other service milestones.

Living in the day of big brother always watching, it’s better to be safe than brave unless money is endless for you.

On the flipside, maybe it something happens and you bring it in and nobody says Jack shit consider yourself fortunate!

Never said launch
Rolling starts. Do not hammer down from a stop.

I never said anything about going off road or abusing it.

. . .Bingo. Why take the chance, unless you have $$$ to piss away.

So when it says shifting manually, doesn't it want you to go right up against the rev limiter? 🤔
That is a really good question because Baja mode is paddle shifting from what I remember. I don’t really use that mode. Mostly sport auto custom and mud/sand driver I know when you use the paddle shifters they don’t automatically shift back to auto shifting without disabling it or changing modes. You aren’t supposed to do Baja driving for the first 500 miles. Not sure if that means mode. There is definitely some ambiguity in some of that. Take that as a keep driving it the way you been driving it but give it some more throttle once in awhile just don’t do any hard pulls to 100+

Out of curiosity here, why can they deny your warranty for not doing a break in (legally speaking).

Verbage on the break in instructions are "recommendation" and I haven't noticed that to be a requirement for warranty anywhere in the owners manual.. Not looking to discuss good idea or bad idea, just how they can go about doing that.

If only they put something about the break-in procedure in the owners manual.
Then we'd have simple answers to how they want it done.

And maybe add something about how the paddles function, modes and such, while they're at it.

If you hold the + shifter for about 2 seconds it will put transmission into auto shift.
It does hold the gears longer than say Street.
Going down the road at 70mph it was in 4th gear and doesn't shift any higher.

You can use the padels in any mode. Hold the positive for a few seconds and it will go to auto shift while still holding the mode you are in.

Hope this helps

It might be as simple as what constitutes RAM's legal definition of "owner abuse".
One person may say not following the BI procedure, is NOT abuse.......
The dealership or RAM might take the position that it is abuse........Now you are in a legal battle with RAM and Stellantis over a $25,000 engine???? I have bigger fish to fry.
For me, 500 miles of following their recommendations was no big deal. Did it with the RE and did it with the TRX.

Gotcha okay. So it's more them claiming abuse rather than something explicitly talking about the break in recommendations not being followed.

Blanket terms man :(

Exactly, my take is even though the BI is a "recommendation" they could use any excuse to invalidate a warranty claim especially if they can trace it back to something like higher than recommended BI RPMs. To me, its just not worth the headache.

Its like my Dad used to tell me, never argue with a newspaper editor (old school).....they buy ink by the barrel and paper by the ton.......you will not win!!!!!!

Realistically unless your dealer is a total ASS its not gonna be an issue. If you read in the manual it says "Recommended Break In" Not required. I 100% am going to follow the break in but as long as you dont go and absolutely thrash it you should be fine realistically. There are some people who follow the school of thought that you should break in a motor hard, I have never done it with any of my vehicles or toys but thats just me.

Oh, and! “shit in one hand and wish in the other and see which one fills up first”!
Sounds like my Dad!!!!!!!!!!!
"Here is a penny for your thoughts, cuz that's all they are worth"!!!!!!!!!!
"Opinions are like ass holes, everyone has one"!!!!!!!!!!!
"If its not spurting blood you will be fine"!!!!!!!!!
I will think of more........

. . .just making sure bro, just making sure. There are some in this forum that may have taken you seriously - just helping out.
I didn’t take him seriously El jefe but when I get my truck, IS there some kind of instructions on how to properly break in engine/drivetrain??

So your telling me. FCA puts the engine together. But doesn't run it at full throttle after built. Hmm
I think not.

The whole break in is bogus.
If it actually mattered they would lock out more power just like launch control is locked till 501 miles.

Recommend legal speaking means its not binding.

Does not say Required break in.

Everyone should do as they please.
