Best replacement battery?

Well, after 17 months my Odyssey H8 is done. I didn't put on a maintainer for the first 7 months or so and maybe that shortened its life. Going forward, I will keep the new battery plugged in at all times when it's parked in the garage. When I first tested the battery, it showed 880 CCA. I figured that was normal for a battery that advertised 950 CCA.

I replaced it with an Everstart Platinum H8. I tested the battery and it's showing 850 CCA, even though the specs say it has 900 CCA. Hopefully this is a better battery. If not, it was half the cost of the Odyssey.

Well, I guess that’s another company that we can add to “went in the crapper.” Sorry to hear it dude.

have had a few Odysseys and never had a problem. Similarly my 392 Jeep, which I usually keep connected to a 2Amp Noco maintainer, as the drone compustar system will drain the battery in about a week. Been driving it more, kept it off the charger for 4 days when I didn’t charge it and after the first start the battery was dead, had to jump it at my next stop with my Pack.

In the Siberia weather we have, I notice once it’s parked it’s down to 12v and less after only a couple hours. Think it’s shot. Exactly 2 years on this odyssey. Looking now for an alternative. The stock battery in this was a POS that lasted less than 2 months new. Might go over to a deka or Napa platinum (eastpenn) the only other US battery mfg, if I can’t find a OG interstate made by eastpenn

My original Stellantis battery lasted 3 months in my TRX and about 2 months in the Jeep. Both were clarios. Trash.

Yellow top still going strong for over 2 years. It’s -5F outside and the battery is showing 12.3v.

If there's one thing Odyssey batteries don't like, it's being completely discharged. No battery does, but they seem to be unusually sensitive to it.

I'm starting to have more and more confidence in Weize batteries. Not that I've had any of them for more than about two years, but still, for the price...

Then again, my '21 TRX is on its original battery, as is the '18 Challenger, and the '17 Ram 3500. Plus I have at least 12 regular wet batteries that are a minimum of 10 years old and still fully functional. Guess I'm doing something right.

Yea ive noticed that too, which is annoying because thats the point of a deep cycle, to be cycled down to 11v or less and be able to take it. I have however been very happy with their extremes, have them in some old OBS trucks and another older car, very solid.

Nothing is made well anymore, it is very irritating. Think im going over to an MTZ interstate (the green top and white case premium ones), those seem to be east penn made, and were my go-to prior to odyssey. The NAPA premiums are good too, same mfg

I've seen Weize, made in china.

Yup, and they make no secret about it.

It's similar to the magnetic drill, socket sets, and some other things I've bought from Vevor. I've been impressed with the quality and the price is definitely right.

Just recently bought a Chinese tire machine and the fit and finish is nicer than that of my old Hunter. Which is also an import, but from Italy.

I put the Wally-World H8 in my F150. ~3 months after picking up the truck, the crappy FORD H6 factory (made in Mexico) Battery Failed. It would throw weird random warnings, sleep mode, BS warnings, and whatever issues. I have not one issue with this battery since swapping over to the H8 Wally world one. It is also made in Germany.

Wally world has no issues swapping out batteries for new ones within the warranty period. Here is Texas, If I get 3 to 4 years it is a miracle. I usually start noticing the batteries die around year 3. I then Go to Wally-World, they test it out, It fails, and then they hand me a new one and I am off on my merry way.

...or find a good agm thats sealed and won't leak acid down my frame .....
There has to be something wrong with it for an AGM battery to "leak".

Out of the dozens of AGMs I've had and have, only once have I seen one "leak" It would produce maybe 8 drops at one cell when being charged. I would wipe it clean and kept using that battery for another year or so. It was one of four in parallel.

i think Batteries can be hit or miss. My odyssey from 2016 is doing well on my classic car still. I just bought 2 AGM batteries, one fore my TRX (H8), and one for a 2019 Hyundai Tucson. The TRX battery is doing well and no issues. The Hyundai Tucson replacement died in 2 months and had to take it back to Costco for a replacement.

From Costco or Wally World, they are good with warranty claims. the Parts suppliers ....not so much.

The only downside to the Costco warranty was they wanted me to pay $10 extra for the replacement battery even after only 2 months and it failed. I was like "....bro you serious? 2 months and i gotta pay for a defective battery?!?! Tech was like "yea that's the only downside"

This is why I stopped buying batteries from Costco. Love that place, generally, but when they went to pro-rated refunds only for car batteries, I said nope.

why can't we go lithium ?
antigravity battery ? something to do with charging it ? or bus not reading it correctly ?
