Auto Transport by Stopwatch - Best Auto Transport Company For Your TRX

I just used stopwatch a few weeks ago and had a great experience. Maybe I got lucky right before the holiday rush but the truck was picked up in Ohio on a Tuesday and delivered Saturday in California.

I feel I should explain this to you as well as others here to aid in any questions someone could have about this.

This price was the way it was for a couple of reasons : amount of available vehicles in this lane, wages for drivers are high out east right now, out east has a lot more tolls, and a few other factors. NY, NJ, MA, CT, and Long Island are always some of the highest paid lanes because of the demand for drivers. There are a lot easier lanes for drivers to run than these so they do get compensated different. Also on short mileage trips you have to understand we use smaller trailers. So while we go out east for a 1,600 mile trip we use 9 car trailers, so we have 9 customers all paying for the trip. Something 300 miles may be moved with a 3 car or 5 car trailer. Meaning less customers are contributing to the drivers total trip pay. Also, no matter the mileage the driver still has time at weigh stations, loading each vehicle, and unloading each vehicle. Sometimes we get stuck at places hours at a time waiting for a vehicle to be ready or for someone to be home. Time is money.

Everyone on this forum please understand rates are not only determined by mileage but based on lots of other factors as well. Some lanes will be 60 cents per mile, and others $2 per mile. These lanes and prices are also always fluctuating kind of like the stock market. It is based on volume, gas prices, demand, and lots of things. Hopefully this clears up some conversations on pricing.

Kind Regards,
Jaron

Here is a post I made in another part of the forum. Hope this helps.

I was debating on flying in and just doing the deal myself. I think its a better experience picking up at the dealer, but the 16 hour drive home will get boring lol.
We loved every hour. Great way to break in the truck and enjoy it.

My truck finally showed up at Granger, IA. Quote requested!!

I wanted to post up on my experience with Stopwatch, since I got my truck on Monday (transported from Kentucky to Florida). Jaron was great to work with and transport was incredibly fast. So fast, in fact, that he had someone sitting at the dealership the day I prepaid for transportation. We had to wait until the next day to get some paperwork done for the dealership (my fault), but his driver was able to accommodate and I got my truck in pristine condition. I will not hesitate to use Jaron again next time I need something transported (likely from Dan Cummins, as you can see from my review over on that thread today).

Good to hear the positive review. My truck is now just waiting for delivery to the dealer in Illinois and I will then have it transported to Clearwater. Stopwatch is on my shortlist of companies to contact based on the comments by forum members that have used them.

Any increase in mileage on your truck once it left the dealership?

Jaron is the man. Used him twice now, both were flawless interactions and quick deliveries. Stopwatch is excellent.

question, how can you verify insurance a trucking company has? can that even be done?

i'm not doubting your insurance, it;s just something i read the other day regarding a trucking company lying about their policy coverage amount and its something i never thought of.

Something to remember boys and girls is that no matter what rate you are paying the driver is NOT getting anywhere near close to that number. Please be patient with them if they are owner ops, just because you pay it doesnt mean they get it and even the most professional driver gets a little butthurt if he thinks hes not making enough on a run. This is coming from an owner op, I run step deck out of kc and my go/no go number is 2 per mile. This number has to go up according to fuel price so if the offer to pick up your truck isnt good enough it might sit awhile until someone gets hungry enough to justify taking the load. Now with the trucks ability to pick up multiple orders IE (running them LTL) they can justify a smaller per mile rate but the end run still has to hit the number.

At this point, it's only fair I share with members that I've had less than an ideal experience with Stopwatch. I'll come back here with a full report once the truck is in my possession, but I'll leave it at this....

The driver put 27 miles on my truck within the first hour of picking it up. My odometer went from 18 to 45 (by the way these are confirmed readings and not just the Ram app) and miles to empty from 314 to 225

The truck still sits in Philly which, comically means, the driver personally drove my TRX further than he's transported it so far.

What a way to end six months of waiting and 71 days from WS to lot. Complete shit show and it still has ~2300 miles to go.

(916ghost - it's completely fine if you're experiencing schadenfreude right now. Can't say I'd blame you 🫤)
