Anybody try this 3rd brake light camera relocation kit yet??

Looks like a really bad idea. The light leaks into the cabin frying rf hubs ect from the factory so clamping a bracket around the light pulling it further out is guaranteed to end very badly. $0.02
Yeah, I would definitely agree with you if it was clamping around the third brake light of the truck, but in this case it’s clamping around the third brake light of the truck bed topper

I would 100% pull the headliner down and route the cable down one of the C-Pillars. It's not hard, and the chances of setting off an airbag are pretty damn low lol. They're not even attached to the trim panels, they sit behind them.

There are also plenty of rubber grommets and holes available in the bottom of the cab. I ran my BAP through one of the larger ones under the rear seat, didn't have to remove any metal.

How do you pull the headliner down exactly? Is there a starting point and sequence to ensure i dont break everything?

Can you snap a quick pick of where you routed out of the cab when u get a sec?

Look at the HD forums. Those with 5th wheels and Rams rear view camera have been using 25-40ft cables . I have a 45ft 5th wheel with the ram aux camera mounted on the back that shows up in the digital rear view mirror. The cable is to connect to the truck is 60’ and it works awesome. You do need to limit the connections and use the longest continuous cable you can. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08MY3TBVP/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Yes, good advice! I've gone through about 45-50 pages on the HD forums for sure. Curious where did you find a 60' cable? The link is for a 25' one. And is the Ram Aux camera different from the one they use in the 3rd brake light for our trucks?

You have to pull the trim on the pillars first, then all the little bits and bobs in the headliner with bolts behind them. You don't have to pull the whole headliner, just the rear stuff and pull it down a few inches to get behind it.

Lot's of youtube videos on how to do it.

I just added the 25’ extension to the factory 50’ cable on my 5th wheel. I think if you need longer you could have them custom make you one. If I had any issues with the connections, that is what I had planned. but thankfully the only connection issue i have had is at the truck bed plug in (which you wont have) so if you can get a cable long enough to only add one connection it should work great. I did go heavy on the dielectric grease on the plugs.

I bought 4 different sizes so hopefully only 1 extra connection but do you know for sure if there will be an issue with 2 added connections?

Connecting two you’ll be fine. Multiple other guys on here used the 25/10 setup to reach their bed caps. But as always first connect everything and test it. Before you route it.

Just bought the cable as well, going to route it into the camper shell sometime soon, then start experimenting with camera locations and what not.

I'm thinking I actually want it inside the camper shell, just behind the glass rear window. Makes mounting easy, plus I don't have to worry about getting a wire penetration back out of the shell. I'm trying to think of cons, but I can't really come up with any except for maybe some reduced visibility.

Keep us posted on the routing. I'm still finishing up my rack/tent/possible awning setup and then that's next on the list to F with once i've got everything situated on the rack. No use routing the camera until i know where everything is going to sit.

As far as cons on the shell, if ur window gets dirty/scratched/etc? Not many cons i can think of either.

Only con would be dirt and in my case I have limo tints so the view at night won’t be great

The dirt happens either way, and as far as tint I've found it doesn't mess with the rear view all that much, you're either looking at headlights and it's all washed out anyway or you have lights pointing back to help.
