I wish we could do a better job with this. It's a manual process we have to go in and check between updates, we aren't notified on status. Frankly, I don't really trust what I'm told either. Between trucks going D1, then reverting to D status, then having ESDs pushed back and shipping windows change.


I ordered my brother a Laramie 1500 in June. It showed up 6 days ago. I ordered him the exact same truck in January and it showed up 4 days ago. The first truck was stuck in Kansas city for 3 months without any explanation.

I realize people want to plan, but we've found it best to wait for the truck to show up, then plan on your trip because there is so much inconsistency.

All good Zach we know you're trying to push these as fast as possible.

1. more trucks moving, more income for you're dealer
2. you made a power move by doing this big discount on the forums which worked great and now is a big challenge for you and your team
3. you obviously understand the passion here on these trucks and this sale helped alot of folks get into a trx that otherwise would have been too $$$

I'm sure they are busting their ass on deliveries...

I could be way off... but I believe it goes through the following.

1. Truck arrives at dealer
2. Truck goes into service bay
3. Truck's service mode is unlocked and set up for consumer mode.
4. Truck goes through a 2 page vehicle prep checklist - tech goes over everything (potential damage, proper fluids)
5. Truck is cleaned
6. Truck info goes to new car manager to get stock number assigned.
7. Finance department prepares all paperwork
8. Dealer informs buyer and coordinates pickup.


Now if all the stars are aligned at dealer this might take 2-4 hours? But i believe it's feast or famine right now. I assume Granger get 10 trucks 1 day and 0 the next. So there obviously is a delay as they work through customer deliveries.

My thoughts on trucking.
- Shortage of drivers.
- Available drivers don't want to haul cars during this time of year - the second it's on their truck, they're liable for any damage.
-Ram TRX is big and heavy - it can only fit on the top
-towing cars is heavy and burns alot of gas.

seems like a perfect storm? I could be wrong on most of this... just guessing.

And everyone knows I’m not an apologist for the dealerships. It reality is, nothing is smooth and processing cars is secondary to onsite sales and customer pay work. Or rather those events are happening at the same time and new ordered car processing has to be sprinkled in.

You missed the post on the union. When you have a labor union contract you can’t just outsource to a load board if the union isn’t doing their job. If wages need to go up to attract drivers that doesn’t happen over night. It’s a long drawn out process to make a change. I was offering to help since I could technically haul, but because of all that bs that’s not an option.

Yup I was just guessing... obviously lots of variables.

I would think processing sold cars is the #1 priority. It's the final objective to get the truck off the lot (liability) and get the money in the dealer's bank. Should be 24 hour turnaround if they have the manpower.

Does it make more sense to punch out 4-5 truck in a day with a combined value of 400K or have 6 techs doing oil changes and warranty work?

I honestly don't know.... but to me I would have a dedicated team that can flex their schedules on any day to pump them out to customers.

Mine finally showed up at the dealership today! Hoping to fly in on Saturday to drive it back. Amanda said half of the team was out with the flu, so I may have to Uber it from the airport. A small price to pay.
