24 Raptor R = 720 HP

In '20 RAM was all ears to the loyal owners, at the TRX's unveiling RAMs CEO's words were "you asked for it, we listened".
Poked fun at Ford for not giving two shits about the V8 calls from Raptor's 10+ years loyal owners.

Fast forward to '23 RAM didnt touch the TRX's performance, highly increased its MSRP, no stage kits, did nothing worth being called "special edition" other bringing out colors that normally sit neglected on the shelves, painted some wheels and stitching. Meanwhile so many available monster crate engines sit around and tons of 1000hp proven tuned TRX packages get sold poking at everyone it is absolutely possible.

Ford brought 700Hp packages for base trucks, improved the R suspension, gave it the missing HUD, a more aggressive look and now destroyed RAM's stupid 2hp claim of glory as the most powerful truck ever produced.

Ram's future look like absolute shit with old fart renamed trim trucks with their pockets empty and no gas to get us anything exciting to look for.
Our solutions:
1- Keep/tune your TRX and drive it until the wheels fall off:
1.5- Sell it get a '24 TRX and pay $125k for the same exact truck you already have;

2- Get a Raptor R which many including myself don't think it's worth the $$$
3-Give in and get a Hummer EV/cybertruck or some other stupid shit that will bore you 10 days after purchase.
I will indeed miss the production of the best AFFORDABLE luxury “Lamboesque” truck ever produced! The soul of the TRX will never be matched after the hay days of 21/22 <$90k IMO.

Addicted to the V8+ ICE music for life sadly for me.

The competition is great. I like both of them. Both are badass. If both were the exact same price I am not sure which I would choose. All trucks are cool. I just watched a video of a supercharged Silverado and it was badass.

One of my greatest regrets is selling my 2021 TRX I got for 90k with every interior and tech option. It's insane to think 3 years later, the 540hp inline 6 RemovedHellcatOption Ram will cost more than my TRX's base price

THIS

I didn’t sell but you are correct on the insanity here. I personally think they they kept bumping MSRPs just to make the room for the RHO to start at the same place as the real TRX started.

Thinking of it… I wonder if the RHO with its new engine is actually more expensive to manufacture than the tried and true Hellcat TRXs.

I really love this Trx. My buddy had a raptor r. It’s nice but not nearly as nice as mine and even he says so.

Either way I’m happy. If they get to 720 hp great for them! Not like I’m drag racing. in my mind taking a loss on the Trx to get a raptor that has 13 hp more and likely will cost a lot more makes no sense.

I can spent 5k and hit 800. Why not just do that when the warranty is up ?

I love my 21 lvl2 TRX and I'll never sell it. It has 52,000km on it currently and I daily it towing my cargo trailers. I'm actually going to get another engine and moth ball (store) it for the future when the current engine goes. I'll then swap them out and rebuild the old engine. Wash, rinse ,repeat until there's no more parts available.

That's my thought. My 3 year warranty is up in August '24, I was planning on extending it but I might just get an 800 package. I gotta see my options here in NY

When I got my TRX it seemed Ram was the company trying to hold the line against the EV forced invasion by sticking to the V8 in these trucks. That's the reason I stopped buying Raptors. It seemed Ford was all in on EV at the time. Thanks to the TRX, Ford finally produced the R and now seem to be the one staying in the high horsepower V8 market. I just like seeing customers being offered a choice, V8, 6 cylinder or EV. I'll have a V8 thank you.
I totally agree and think all markets should be customer driven. Keep in mind this is being forced on them by government mandates and threatening of fines. I know some people at Honda pretty high up. The government harassment has resulting in them moving the accord out of the plant that it’s been in for forty years to commit to build a pos EV. No one is happy about it, but that’s the reality of what a socialized government does to business. FCA or Stellantis tried fighting this and held steadfast for a while but eventually had to cave in. It’s sad to see and at this point I have no idea what the future will hold. It is sad as a lifelong mopar fan to see the company reduced to this. I will be holding onto my fire breathing super charged truck for a long time.

I would still buy a TRX as the crazy mark ups on the Raptor R’s
Not being a hater although I must say 720Hp makes me envy not the truck but the fact that Ford is making things happen and RAM is sitting on the EV dildo.
The R is awesome but never will be cooler than the TRX. Exhaust, SC whine...most agree the TRX is more fun to drive but yes the R edges due to weight and now extra Hp.
RAM can still step it up with stage kits which already exist...
100%. I just don’t understand why RAM will not bring the stage kits to the TRX?

Sure, piss on a man's grave. Yeah, I am sure RAM has bigger fish to fry then keeping the TRX since their 2023 sales are in the toilet. 2500's average 724 days on dealer's lots....ouch.
There is a reason for that who wants a low powered 6 speed trans with a mini back door 3/4 ton truck when Chevy and Ford have them smoked.

The R is in my future for sure. I doubt I’ll ever buy another ram.

What is everyone’s guess on how high the mark up will be on the 2024 Raptor R? I bet it’s even higher than the 2023s.

What’s funny is Ford HAD to wait for Ram to retire the Hellcat engine from the TRX to announce 720 HP because they knew Ram would come back with the Redeye version which they have no production answer for.

That’s a great thought but probably the Ram will
Surprise us.

The TRX really rocked FORD and especially Raptor owners in 2020. Those of us with early TRX's really enjoyed seeing them on the road. I think Ford did really plan the R comeback and purposely went with 700hp and just a hair above the TRX in performance just enough to regain their honor without pissing off RAM for a response with a Redeye or else.

The truck wars promised to be epic with Godzillas and Hellephants possibly coming out. Then Ford responds and RAM settled.... weak.
Feeling RAM is now cornered and the TRX is dead, I bet it will poke fun with all kinds of improvements for the next year or so.
At least a large majority that wanted to own a supertruck was able to until 2023-24 with a TRX(lots of former Raptor owners here).
Meanwhile 98% of the Raptor Fanboys(ones that defend the R with their lives) will never own or sit in one.

I am very satisfied with my 22 TRX but I will never buy another Ram with less power. As far FORD I will never buy one no matter what. I already have a very bad experience with 22 gen 3.
I agree. Its a RAM TRX or no RAM at all. I had a ‘23 Raptor but simply did not like it. No major issues with it other than only half of the speakers worked and the screen worked half of the time.
